How is the MacOS compared to Windows?
Underfire17 replied to AzzaNezz's topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
I think it's a Windows thing since they own a butt ton of the market share when it comes to OSes. The OS allows for extra software to be installed with it, and most manufacturers like to install McAffee, Buttplug Plus and other garbage. Thats one of the very few good things about Macs. They don't let advertisers into their software experience. -
I actually think I got a T3500, I use it as a file server mostly. I got that bad boy to work with 6 TB of Enterprise HDDs, and 8 gigs of RAM.

Nice! From my experience with Thinkpads, it's been pretty hit or miss with them. My 2012 one was a powerful little laptop even though it only had an i5 (or maybe an i3, I forgot), but my IT laptop with an i7 took forever to start windows or simply turn on. You probably dodged a bullet with those things.

I thought I'd ask this, since my old job was getting rid of a ton of servers, desktops, hard drives, and switches that were perfectly fine. Luckily I was able to a lot of it since my boss literally couldn't care less where they went so my coworker and I were able to nab some of the stuff we wanted. I just want to know what kind of stuff people have thrown out that works completely fine once either fixed up a little, or just powered on. if any one is interested here is a list of stuff a was able to get: A few network switches Around 15 or so desktops (I sold a ton of them for gas and bills) 3 Servers 8 or so iPods (which I traded in for an Xbox) 7 or so laptops (I mainly sold them, I kept a few old ones for my collection, and I use a couple for daily drivers) 30 Raspberry pis (Half of them need to be fixed tho) 2 UPS stations

Install macOS on PC?
Underfire17 replied to Slo2020's topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
I think pretty much any one of full versions would work, you just need to make it compatible with your system. I've heard of people getting Mac OS X to work with AMD processors, but it's a huge pain in the butt since, well, Mac OS X only supports Intel CPU's natively. I don't work with AMD based machines often, so I would probably be stumped, but there is a forum out there called https://amd-osx.com/ , and they work just with AMD based systems. I suggest trying them out and seeing if you can get some help from them. -

It really depends on who you ask. My mom got a Macbook when I was a kid because she was tired of how fast her computers died from Windows updates. I got my iMac partly because of the update thing, and because I program for systems that have a Unix/Linuxish kind of filesystem, and Mac OS has that. My brother wants to get a Macbook when he's older, because it's fairly easy for him to use, and he doesn't want to have to deal with Windows being a butthole with updates since he isn't going to use it all the time. -
Yeah I know it sounds kinda dumb, but I’m wanting to get a Series S for my boyfriend since he’s thinking about getting more into gaming. I just don’t know when it will be manufactured enough for it to basically not be worth scalping. I heard that the ps5 will be available soon, but I haven’t heard much about the Xbox. I’m willing to wait since I’m not about to give one of those greesy lards a handy, but I have no clue if it would be worth trying to get one since Xmas is literally slapping me in the face and they are still snatching them up.

Anyone Know Why My Server Can't Access It's RAM?

I wish I could but I have no way of accessing the bios. I tried using a monitor with it but it wouldn't display anything.
