  1. My Favourite thing about the HTC one (m8) would have to be the phones industrial design.
  2. I would want to do Hardware RAID, I am new to all this Hardware RAID stuff never had more then 5 HDD in a Server, is there any cards from Adaptec that you would suggest Eric, for 24 port RAID. Thanks
  3. Hi, I am also building a WHS. I thought that the Intel RES2SV240 was the RAID Controller rather then a RAID Expander, so what way would you connect it up? if it is just a expander then can I just use the Windows Home Server "Software RAID Thingy"?? Or would it be better following the same guidance as above? Thanks Planned Specs: Case: 4u Rackmount - 24 Bays (http://www.xcase.co.uk/24-bay-Hotswap-rackmount-chassis-norco-RPC-4224-p/case-xcase-rm424.htm) HDD: 24 x 3TB WD RED (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Red-Desktop-Drive/dp/B008JJLW4M/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1381962933&sr=1-1&keywords=wd+red+3tb) RAID Controller: INTEL RES2SV240 RAID Controller (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-RES2SV240-RAID-Controller/dp/B0042NLUVE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381916118&sr=8-1&keywords=RES2SV240#productDetails) CPU: Intel i5 4570 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Graphics-BX80646I54570-Generation-Technology/dp/B00CV3E3WK/ref=sr_1_5?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1381963205&sr=1-5&keywords=intel+i5) RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D2LGRPG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maximus-VI-Motherboard-Express-Extreme/dp/B00D41V69Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1381963243&sr=1-1&keywords=rog+hero) Power Supply: Corsair AX1200 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-AX1200-Professional-Series-Modular/dp/B003QP4188/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1381963296&sr=1-2&keywords=Corsair+AX1200)
  4. Aye, will do, but I need someone to point me in the right direction about RAID Controllers?
  5. Hi All, I am planning to built a new Windows Home Server to have Windows Home Server 2011 (then Later Windows Server 2012 Essentials if I think it would be worth it) however I need advise regarding RAID cards, one of the cards I was looking at is the Intel RES2SV240 RAID Controller when I looked at the user guide (http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/e93121003_res2sv240_hwug.pdf) page9, it appears that you need to connect to a SAS Module on the motherboard, I am being thick today and just cant think, it should work via PCI shouldn't it surely I don't need a SAS module on the motherboard?? Also the Case says Mini SAS for the Backplanes is this the SFF8087 connector. This is what my built is: (sorry for the links) I am open to suggestions Case: 4u Rackmount - 24 Bays (http://www.xcase.co.uk/24-bay-Hotswap-rackmount-chassis-norco-RPC-4224-p/case-xcase-rm424.htm) HDD: 24 x 3TB WD RED (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Red-Desktop-Drive/dp/B008JJLW4M/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1381962933&sr=1-1&keywords=wd+red+3tb) RAID Controller: INTEL RES2SV240 RAID Controller (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-RES2SV240-RAID-Controller/dp/B0042NLUVE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381916118&sr=8-1&keywords=RES2SV240#productDetails) CPU: Intel i5 4570 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Graphics-BX80646I54570-Generation-Technology/dp/B00CV3E3WK/ref=sr_1_5?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1381963205&sr=1-5&keywords=intel+i5) RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D2LGRPG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maximus-VI-Motherboard-Express-Extreme/dp/B00D41V69Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1381963243&sr=1-1&keywords=rog+hero) Power Supply: Corsair AX1200 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-AX1200-Professional-Series-Modular/dp/B003QP4188/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1381963296&sr=1-2&keywords=Corsair+AX1200) Again so sorry for so many questions but my brain is on holiday. Thanks again Craig
  6. Hey Folks, I may be making stuff up again in my head. But wonder is it possible to have a scheduler task run within Windows 7 once a device is plugged in (windows sees its hardware id) and then runs a proxyswith.bat which will enter clear all current proxy exceptions then add new proxy exceptions. then once the device is unplugged windows then sees this and removed the "new" proxy exceptions and returns it with a standard set of proxy exceptions that were there before the hardware plugin occurred. As I said more then likely I am making stuff up again. Thanks for your time and discussion. Craig
  7. Same here bartekxx12, just wondering if anyone on the site has had experience with the mdisc product.
  8. Hi Folks, First of all thanks for taking the time to read this topic and if I have duplicated it sorry : ) Just wondering has anyone used the m-disc yet, sounds like a product that I would like to be put into my rigs, but not too sure as the UK on appears to be getting them now and we are only getting the DVD version rather then the Bluray version. That being said, I know that I can use hard drives. Thanks Craig
  9. As far RAM - Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x8GB at what Speed I wouldnt go under 1600MHz to be honest, do you really need Dominator Platimum, corsiar Vengeance is just as good and in fact other brands are just as good as OEM builts the RAM and suppliers stamp their brands on it. the only thing that i can think is that the Dominator Platimum is a custom built board and has the Lights and the Corsair Link compatibility. I have both Dominator Platimum and Vengeance in two of my builts and to be honest I like the Dominator Platimum looks cleaner, and from what I recall the NZXT switch 810 matte black has a windowed side. I think its a good choice.
  10. In work the Media Unit uses quadro 400 with intel i5 and it renders out ok, but they are rendering small projects.
  11. If I was you I would wait for Haswell if you can as it would be a better choice.
  12. Excellent Idea @ionbasa, I have been running folding@home for years on any device that can : ) only down side is the power bill
  13. I have a Razer Black Widow Ultimate 2013 (UK Layout) keyboard on one of my computers and currently thinking about getting different ones for each computer system I have.
