  1. Jesus Christ, can everyone stop all their whining and moaning? No LTX will not be held anywhere other than Vancouver. No they will not do a lottery for VIP tickets. No they will not increase the number of VIP tickets because then what is the point?? If you're too young, too far, etc. to save up enough money that sucks. If your job prevents you from attending that sucks. But moaning to LMG isn't going to change anything. LMG is not going to change a massive event to accommodate the minority. I know we all wish that they could but your whining is why they considered removing VIP all together. So suck it up and realize you aren't going to win everything in life.
  2. We stayed in Surrey last year and I figured I should post my experiences in case people are curious how feasible doing that is. I ended up choosing Surrey because I'm a Marriott rewards member and the civic autograph collection hotel there is significantly cheaper than similar Marriotts in Vancouver. Surrey isn't the nicest city so I definitely cannot speak to other lodging. However, the Marriott is about 100ft from the skytrain rail. Which was super convenient and nice. At around $100 USD per night you get a ridiculously fancy room. The skytrain is super nice, you buy a little plastic card for a dollar or two and then you load it with rides. The day pass seemed to be the best value from Surrey as it was unlimited for 10 dollars (CAD I think). If you have a big pc/monitor I wouldn't recommend staying in Surrey as it's a 45 minute ride to waterfront by skytrain, unless you have access to a car. We drove up from the US last year so we drove our PCs into Vancouver and parked in the garage for LTX19 and used the skytrain for everything else (we visited for a week). Surrey isn't the safest place, there is a lot of homeless/strung out people. They generally seemed to keep to themselves but I'm also 6'3' Army vet with a large beard so experiences may vary. I will say I always had my guard up when I walked around Surrey. On the morning walk to the train station you get to dodge puddles of vomit from the night prior so that's fun! There is an amazing Pho place located next to the skytrain station that I will definitely be going back to next year! It's called: Phở Tâm Vietnamese Restaurant.
  3. I would recommend the recently updated Paul's Hardware build video series. He is very thorough in going through all the nuances in PC building.
  4. All of the tournaments Dreamhack offered for the BYOC were during the convention. I think it would've been better to offer them once the convention closed so that people who wanted to participate in both didn't have to miss the convention.
  5. Linus said on WAN show that they reserved the larger portion of the convention center for LTX 2020
  6. I'm definitely interested in this and I have a beefy enough computer that I could run a dedicated server if we need it.
  7. The $3 subscription will cover you for everything on there.
  8. I've heard 25ft recommended and that sounds like a good length to make sure you'll be able to access their switches.
  9. Good points for both sides! I guess I just get upset when people go on the record without knowing the facts first. Either way I'm just happy that so many creators are attending!
  10. The only way to get refunds is through DMing Colton
  11. I don't know who this is but he seems like an idiot... of course they can't pay for you and everyone you "care about" to come. They have alot of creators attending. Adding +1's would cost a lot of money.
  12. As long as they aren't VIP when you get to the registration desk they will issue you the wristbands for everyone. If they are BYOC you can transfer them to another person on the dreamhack app/website.
  13. The merch packs are only handed out on site unfortunately. If you PM colton he can get refunds issued for the tickets.
  14. Hey everyone! I'm currently sitting in spot S4 and wanted to get to know some of the people who are also sitting in row S. Shout out your seat number!
  15. You should've received an email when you purchased the tickets that allowed you to link them to a dreamhack account. Go find this email and link the tickets to an account and you should be good to go.
  16. Sorry, I'm coming from Colorado so I won't be going that far south
  17. Hey everyone, I was able to snag a ticket to the 4:45pm office tour. I'm planning on driving up to Canada so I will have my car with me and all three of the back seats are open to anyone who would like a ride to and from the LMG HQ. My car is a 2011 Ford Focus, so they aren't the roomiest seats but hey it's a free ride! Let me know if anyone is interested.
  18. Honestly, I think the farthest they'd be willing to travel would be somewhere in the U.S. (assuming they are going to travel at all). The logistics of crossing seas would make it pretty impossible imo
  19. Driving from Fort Collins, CO gonna be 28hrs one way. Definitely not the furthest miles wise.
  20. If your license has one of those stars in the top right corner it can be used to visit Canada. Otherwise you will need a passport, I'm bringing mine, just in case, cause I already have one. Also if you have a DUI you won't be allowed to visit Canada unless you submit a bunch of paperwork to get an exception.
  21. From what I've heard the most common stolen items are peripherals like mouse and headset. My rough plan is to bring a bag and a lock that I will hopefully be able to lock to the table keeping my stuff safe while I wander around.
  22. That is a really cool idea! I was planning on doing both custom and more mainstream style cases depending on demand.
  23. I was thinking standoffs because wood is a great insulator and having the mobo sit that close to essentially a blanket would probably cause overheating issues. I'm still playing around with designs but I figured a slight standoff accompanied by a cutout around the back of the CPU would provide adequate airflow.
