  1. True. And on G3:s case, the review where the hatred comes from was still positive one. Someone just chose that a bit high opp is something that makes a psu equal to a budget model that's worse on every other aspect. Its like saying a cheap Indian car is equal to a BMW because it the Indian one has a low oil indicator light that turns on more easily.
  2. I was just making a point that the parts are not so bad that you should see a big difference on basic stuff. For that light use case a nuc could be nice. Its about 400$ with the 4c8t i5 you see in mid tier Macbook Pros. So with 16gb memory and 1tb ssd should be about 600-700$ in a nice tiny package. Imo the new Nucs are the best product from Intel in years. https://www.amazon.com/Intel-NUC-Mainstream-Kit-NUC8i5BEK/dp/B07GX59NY8/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=nuc8i5&qid=1556896417&s=gateway&sr=8-1&th=1
  3. There is something wrong with his current system. Just do a fresh install of windows and make sure os is on ssd as the programs he uses.
  4. But do you have any idea why those tests show inconsistencies? Its because some sites use low voltage(Tweaktown 0,95V stock, and 1,14V OC) on tests while others push 220W with a 9900K. Thin tower might be equal to D15 with low watts but push 130-200W and there will be a larger difference.
  5. Does not at all look like the Russians got it wrong. On their site Hr-02 macho with two fans is worse than True Spirit 140. That is exactly why I stick to sites who are known to have at least as scientific approach you can have at a home/office setup.
  6. Ignore idle temperatures and look at the max wattage ones. Maelstrom 120 is equal to Noctua u12s on Techpowerups aida fpu test(while being 9dB louder) and L240 ties with U14 on guru3d 100% load.
  7. 450W is plenty if you buy a unit that gives 450W. Bad budget models might have 450 on box but only 300W on 12V rail. I guess Corsair Vengeance 550m is reasonably priced on that site. Its a bit loud though.
  8. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/t797YJ/msi-b450-gaming-pro-carbon-ac-atx-am4-motherboard-b450-gaming-pro-carbon-ac Better value board that has beefy enough vrm for upgrading to more power hungry stuff. And maybe a better cooler for 2600 so that you can oc it. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/cwPzK8/be-quiet-cpu-cooler-bk009
  9. That case is notoriously bad for air cooled gpu:s. You would make a bigger difference if you swapped to an sfx psu as the gpu would have more room under it and a better supply for fresh air from front intake.
  10. Price perf ratio is better on those than on +420€ models. And with 500€:s you can get a 2070. 2060 is close to 200W on load so it does not need a top tier cooler like 2080ti or vega to be reasonably quiet.
  11. No point to upgrade cpu until 3000-series comes out in summer or autumn.
  12. That Strix has worse vrm than a dirt cheap Asrock b450(m) pro4. 13. But did you make sure you control that 4-pin fan with pwm? If you use voltage control, there is a chance voltage is not high enough for the fan to spin.
  14. Well it can be pretty much anything. Test if memory is stable(with jdec profile, xmp is oc), remove all oc from cpu and gpu. Check S.M.A.R.T values for ssd:s and drives. XMP can be unstable sometimes when using 4 sticks. Updating bios might help.
  15. Provide a source for it? Id like to see a test instead of a random forum post.
  16. There are is only a 8+6 pcie-cable in a 550W psu. 8pin is rated for 150W and 6pin for 75W, wow like in the spec sheet of the connectors. Its funny to see a backlash 16 months after they fixed it in production models
  17. Just connect them straight to motherboard if you want individual control for those two.
  18. 3pin connection for fans so not pwm. Connect the fans to motherboard.
  19. The ocp kicked in because some gpus break the atx specs for power they are allowed to draw for a duration of ms:s. The cap filters these spikes out.
  20. That is a forum post. They already said the caps are back in the wires for everything produced in 2018 or later. I would like to see actual tests with the caps in wires and just random posts with no facts to back those claims up. Plus EVGA g2 has the same suggestion of using two pcie-cables instead of one if possible. Will you drop it down too?
  21. Yes, Seasonic had problems with 2017 manufactured Focus-models. Do you have evidence that their statement was wrong and this was not fixed by putting caps in the wires?
  22. Well it does not mean its used if its reserved. I think it started with the nVidia sponsored Tomb Rider game when they had to show that gtx 970 can more than 3,5GB vram utilized with no stuttering.
  23. lspci should show a shorter list and make it easier for you to identify your wifi card.
  24. If you are not a professional streamer you can just use the gpu nvenc and stream with that with almost no hit for cpu.
  25. Those active adapters cost a lot(140€ here). Id say maybe more than the monitor is worth.
