  1. Yes, I do seem to keep TVs for a long time - It's replacing a 9 or 10 year old LCD - so having 4K for the future would be good. I think that in around 12 to 18 months 4K content will be - at least online - available and I would like to be able to enjoy that. Also, I find myself displaying a lot of my own content - pictures and videos - of which a large amount is in UHD, 4k or higher resolution.
  2. OLED would be nice but, and this is a big but, it is not available (as far as I can see) in a non curved format. This is a serious deal breaker as a curved TV wouldn't work in our living room.
  3. Hello, I'm looking to replace my aging 32 inch LCD with something a bit more modern and was hoping you could help. My requirements are as follows: £800 - £1300 50 - 65 inch (preferably at the upper end of that range) From a reputable brand (Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic ect) This TV will mostly be used for films and occasional console gaming I'm currently looking at: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/panasonic-viera-tx-58dx700b-smart-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-58-led-tv-10143739-pdt.html http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/samsung-ue65ju6000-smart-4k-ultra-hd-65-led-tv-10143407-pdt.html http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/sony-bravia-kd55x8509c-smart-3d-4k-ultra-hd-55-led-tv-10122384-pdt.html http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/samsung-ue60ju6000-smart-4k-ultra-hd-60-led-tv-10139068-pdt.html http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/samsung-ue55ju6800-smart-4k-ultra-hd-55-led-tv-10135516-pdt.html
  4. Hello, I've currently have a Canon EOS M with 18-55mm lens and as I'm currently quite into my sports and action I've been finding the slow autofocus (it's so bad I'm completely manual focusing) as well as the 55mm max zoom. I don't see any issues with changing systems as it would require a £100 adapter from Canon to use any ef lenses and I need to really change the body as well. Currently I've been looking at: Nikon: D200 D80 D90 Nikon AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 ED Lens Canon: 40d 50d 60d - If I can find one cheap 1D mk1 (if the lens bellow will cover the slightly larger, but not full frame, sensor?) Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III Things worth considering: I already have 2x32gb SD cards and 2x4g SD cards so would preferably not have to buy CF cards (unless you have a cheap brand that works reliably) I many want to shoot mountain biking, snow sports, and other outdoor sports so low light isn't my top priority Other suggestions besides what I have above are welcome! Thanks
  5. If you want to remove the fan for aesthetics purposes then I would recommend turning all your other fans up quite a lot as a 4790k is quite a lot for such a low end cooler. But I would use the fan if you can, maybe get a better looking after market one if you want.
  6. The article is originally from the BBC linked bellow: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-35237985 In the tests the scientists were able to produce pressures around 3.5 million atmospheres. This compressed the hydrogen so much that it began to reach the stage that it acts like a metal. This has been hypothesised since the 1930s and is believed to be able to dramatically improve the performance of computers as it will replace ageing silicon technology. It may also provide new ways of storing fuel for hydrogen cars and may also be used as a rocket fuel. "We think we've reached a state of the material that is probably the precursor to metallic hydrogen," explained Ross Howie
  7. Dont even get me started on this, dont even go there. No.
  8. It should come like that from the factory, I would pay an extra $3 for that heck I would pay $20
  9. I think the hand held approach makes the view seem like they are involved, obviously it needs to be smooth and controlled shake but I think a perfectly steady shot would make it seem sterile, boring and tutorial like IMO
  10. OD Green 304 sounds good, are you doing it a just a flat green or are you going to weather it and make it look all military and stuff?
  11. I am in need of a new mobile computing device and have looked at all the options. I have come to the conclusion that a Surface Pro 3 would suit my need well, but the first question is Skylake? Should I wait until the Pro 4 comes out or snatch up a 3 while there cheap? Secondly what spec, the best bang of buck seems to be the i5 with 4GB of ram, but I don't know if this will be fast enough for what I want to do: Adobe CC mostly Photoshop, Lightroom, Muse and Premiere Pro (nothing hardcore, no rendering and only basic editing and effects in Premier and Photoshop) Blender (Low Poly 3D modeling) Programing (C#, Python, Java .etc only small(ish) projects for the web and windows store) (Very) Light Gaming, Minecraft, Prison Architect and that sort of 2D and basic 3D games Web Browsing, Chrome with lots of tabs 10-20 on a usual day (is 4gb enough or do I need 8gb) Basic 2D Game Development in Unity Thats all of the intensive stuff I will be doing but 60% of the time it will be OneNote, Excel, Word and 5-10 Chrome Tabs Thanks
  12. So, hopefully this makes sense, I was filming a concert and I had a camcorder continuously recording the whole thing with sound, I then have two cameras (with sound) that stop recording every 30 minutes so have to be restarted, I then also have a sound recorder that stop recording every 30 minutes so required to be restarted. all I need to do it sync all of these up in a premier timeline ready for multicam editing. How do I do this? Is there any free plugins, as I don't want to spend money all the audio tracks can be visually synced via the audio wave forms but as I have to sync 70 diffrent video/audio files I was hopping that they may be a plugin to speed up my editing. Thanks, Oli
  13. Blender is good, does have a steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of it it so go, just a step below Premier CC and Avid MC.
  14. So, hopefully this makes sense, I have one master video + sound track and I have multiple video + sound tracks that are from two separate cameras that I need synced on the two tracks in premiere and some separate sound tracks. If that didn't make sense, try this explanation... 15. What is the best laptop in the £400 range (+- £30 or so) I was looking at the dell Insperon 15 5000 with i5 and 8GB of ram. I will mainly be using for mobile photo/video editing (HD) and programing/web development, both of these using Adobe CC, I will need it to have a decent screen, touch not needed, 15 inch or 17 inch if it does not compromise the spec, I dont care about an SSD because I will upgrade to one soon as I get it as I have a 120GB left over from an old build. Thanks http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15-5558-laptop/pd?oc=cn55804&model_id=inspiron-15-5558-laptop
  16. 2 degrees C for 30 minutes* (with the hard drive on) should do the trick, you may need to tape the door shut to allow for the cabels I am not responsible for the result of this refrigeration and the condition your hard drive is in when it emerges from the refrigerator *don't actually do this
  17. I am trying to connect to a network drive I have share via Samba on my Linux Server, it is the HTML folder for a web server, it requires root permissions, but when I try to map the network drive in windows an login, using "root" as the users and the root password, it cones up with this error, I definably don't have this drive mapped already as I have highlighted in the screen shot but it says I am, I am signed in using a non root account on diffrent network shares on the same Samba server. I am trying to map drive "HTML-Atomic" Thanks, oli
  18. I was watching a video on vessel the other day and saw the logo was actually the YouTube logo, not the vessel. Probably a bug with Chrome, but imagine if YouTube brought Vessel.

  21. Just so everyone knows, this is what it is most of the time, sometimes, at midnight or early morning hours it goes up to 17 down, 1.5 up. Also I am connected via a cable to the router, so no wifi isn't the problem, even if I was using wifi, my computer is 30cm away from the router. And our wifi is "unlimited" so its not because of that either, its just there rubbish equipment and stuff at their end lol
  22. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4337926205 This is a speed test I have just done, I like 20m from the BT exchange, can someone please explain how this is possible? 1.5mbps, we pay for 17mbps but only get this!!! It still odd how some parts of the UK are still in the 2000, I am super anoyed about this, I think we may be getting fiber in a few years though, lol
