  1. I am sorry to offend you. My first and third post addressed questions and uncertainties to the PSU Tier List specifically, my second post was purely a question for a recommendation wich would qualify as a new thread, true. My bad. Thanks anyway to @Juular for replying. Thanks for clarification, the blue color in the Tier List for the Platinum Version made me think that it is significantly quieter compared to the Gold SP11.
  2. What is the rational here? Because tests and the Tier List suggested me that the Platinum Version is the "newer" refreshed one that is less loud under higher loads. Because I can get the SP 11 Gold 650 W for ~110 € wich would fit my budget and i have no bad experiences with be quiet! Thanks for the list, I will look into those units and the availability/pricing too.
  3. Thanks for your reply. Any recommendations for a Silent PSU ~100 € in Germany. I got lucky and scored a 5600X currently with a GTX 960 but getting any GPU that makes sense in the 500 € price point. Maybe a used 2080 super/ti, maybe Radeon 6800 or RTX3070 or 3060 if one get announced soon. I am looking at used Dark Rock Pro 11 or new Straight Power 11 Platinum Units but i would appreciate inspiration based on personal recommendations now because I made my mistake.
  4. I am about to return the TX650M I bought because it is loud under idle load (disattached all system fans, set CPU fan to 0 RPM below 50 °C, no HDD installed). Im might have misinterpreted the Tier List but I thought TXM 2017 would include 2017 and current. Probably my bad. But if I did interpreted it right you might want to change the color from gold to plain black because it is not a quiet unit.
  5. Well, the meshify C Mini is bought for a good price (70 €). Now I am torn between the B550m Asus Tuf wifi and the msi Mortar wifi. Any recommendations? Seems like I have to wait for the gpu decision until full reviews are out but I can already buy the rest of the build around the r5.
  6. Budget (including currency): 1500 € Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly Gaming: League, Ark, Satisfactory, future AAA Games, maybe some CAD Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 3440x1440p @100 Hz Monitor, Samsung EVO 970 1 TB bought on Saturday for a decent price, a 2,5" Sata SSD from the current system Hello everyone, 2020 seems like an exiting year to upgrade your PC. I am currently running a i7-4790, 32 GB RAM with a GTX 960 wich i kinda inherited from my fathers old business wich was a nice upgrade over my old 2500k with a HD 6950. I am eyeing the Ryzen 5 5600(X) combined with a RTX 3070 or whatever AMD brings to the Party on Wednesday around the 500 € price point. Of cause independent reviews will be taken into consideration. I kinda want to put the case up on my desk and thought mATX might be a decent choice. Do i really need 4 PCI expansion slots? No, and if i go inbuild Wifi I find it hard to believe that i run into an issue. I like the idea of an RAM Upgrade Option so I want 4 Slots. I am pretty sure i wont need 32 GB of RAM 16 GB is probably plenty but it is kinda nice not having to think about RAM limitations so i am currently planning 2x16 GB Modules 3600 Hz, CL 18 or less. With case i would go with the Meshify C mini because Steve taught me you need a good ventilated Case with low RPM Fans for silent operation (having a degree in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on Aircraft Fans also helps i guess). I am open for other suggestions below 100 €. I really like the idea of being able to upgrade the system in a few years from now, just throw in a used R9 5900 with a new gen GPU and be good. But time will tell how big the generational leaps are going to be. Some say Moore's Law is dead but i am open for surprises. For mATX motherboard I choose the highest rated B550 mATX Board the TUF Gaming B550m Wifi and hope it is the same as the TUF B550m and someone was just to lazy to type "GAMING", any suggestions are welcome. I like the 2x m.2 slots with one being PCIe 4.0 plus the 4 RAM slots. Bios Update withoug CPU is nice to have but not mandatory, I have access to a Ryzen 3 2200 G from my inlaws. I definitely going to overclock the CPU and consider the Dark Rock 4, maybe the Pro but also open for suggestions. PSU is also a big question mark for me. Usually i would say 700 W is pretty overkill but the RTX 3000 Series seems to spike a bit. No RGB required. If GPU pricing is way more than MSRP I probably go with 16 GB of RAM. I am basically buying the parts if i find a good deal on them like the 970 EVO, Case, Fans, Cooler, MoBo, PSU and maybe RAM are all the things on my shopping list pre Ryzen and RX 6XXX/RTX 3070 launch. As mentioned above i am open for any suggestions/tips what ever. Is there any point in going 10th gen Intel? I am open to the idea but it looks like AMD won the CPU game for this gen. Thanks for your time.
  7. Well, the response was overwhelming. But I would like to share my decision with anyone who is in a similar situation like I am. I got lucky and found a single AOC CU34G2 for 400 € as a factory return. So I took the deal and I am happy with it. I could not really test the freesync capabilities because of my GTX 960 but this upgrade is due in Q3 2020. The panel is in my eyes really good. Assassins Creed syndicate looks pretty as long if you don't move the camera. I suspect under 20 fps on high. Everything down to low and it gets playable. Productivity is A+. I am currently in homeoffice because of the covid 19 situation and having one side with your worksheet and the other side with the vba editor is a blessing. The picture by picture mode is a bit disappointing. I was hoping to be able to separate the screen in 2x 1720x1440 screens or maybe even a 2560x1440 plus 880x1440. Especially the late option would have been nice to have. Play a game in 16:9 while having a second window with a browser open. But pbp only separates the screen in the middle and gives you two 21:9 screens with huge black bars on the top. No deal breaker for me but sometime in the future I might want a secondary monitor because I am so accustomed to having one.
  8. Hi guys, I am currently looking for a new monitor. My current GPU is a gtx960 but I will probably upgrade later this year. The monitor is meant for multimedia, gaming and some office applications. I like the idea of replacing my current setup, a sad 22" syncmaster from 2012 and an even sadder junk 19" with a single, lightly curved ultrawide monitor. 32:9 is unfortunately not in budget. I would like the option to choose two separate sources so I can sometimes use the monitor in a dual monitor way. I would love to not spend more than 450 € (Germany) but if the upgrade is worth it I will consider it. My current ideas 1. AOC CU34G2 100 Hz VA, freesync and around ~450 €, I thought I found the one, but sadly noone has it in stock. 2. LC-M34-UWQHD-100-C 100 Hz VA, freesync LC power has not the best reputation, but can be bought around ~400 € Both are reasonable slim, some of msi's ultrawides look like a tank. The xiaomi MI surface with allegedly the same panel as the aoc is not for sale in Germany. Does anyone have any experience with one of the above monitors or can recommend another option? I am also not afraid to buy used but it is hard enough to get an overview about the newish marked and I don't really now what to look for in a used monitor. Edit: I also think about the option of two 27" 1440p monitors. One expensive 144 Hz and a less expensive next to it, optimally in the same or similar design, I think same chassis with different panels.
  9. What is your budget? Does the budget include peripherals or do you have everything? Monitor, keyboard, mouse, flight controls?
  10. 1000 - 3000 $ includes everything from getting the job done (3600 + rx580) up to extreme high end (3900X/9900k + 2080 ti)
  11. A friend of mine recently got much more time at his hands (motorcycle accident) and is already heavily into racing sims on PS4. He now wants to get into PC and send me a screenshot of a 8700k + 1080 ti prebuild for 2090 €. He wants to go for 4k @60 Hz. I don't play any racing simulations but i guess 1440p ultrawide 75 Hz or higher with freesync is probably a better place to look. The monitor is not included in the budget. The Games he wants to run: - Assetto Corsa Competizione - iRacing - RaceRoom Racing Experience some pubg I told him about the Ryzen release but he does not want to wait. So my approach Either 9600k (maybe 8700k if he wants the i7 brag bonus, i don't know...) I personally would prefer AMD for future upgrades but i don't think he will touch the PC for anything but dusting it off. X470 only for maybe future PCIe 4.0 support. Could save another 50 € with a B450. I still chose Overclocking capability so maybe i can make a initial OC for him but i guess a DR4Pro is a bit overkill... So I am asking for general advice concerning the build and those games combined with monitor recommendations. Region is Germany. PS: how do you guy insert the pcpp list in the nice format?
  12. In most countries I am aware of those stickers have no legal relevance whatsoever. Just a way for manufacturers to sell customer there overpriced service.
  13. Yeah, i know. It is more like a "where do you live that it is not illegal for a company to claim, opening a panel would void the warranty" kind of meaning. It is probably soldered anyways.
  14. Where do you live? Opening a bottom panel should not void your warranty. If you want to make sure check your manual. SSD upgrades are usually listed as user upgrades. And to do those you have to open the panel. Just make sure not to accidentally spill a drink on it because that would void your warranty for sure.
  15. I am not sure but it seems that ASUS did solder the RAM on the pro 15 (i found teardowns of the UX550VD and the UX580GE). Maybe take a look and open the bottom panel. It should be obvious if there is a slot free or not.
  16. Maybe a used 1070 or 1070 ti? They have 8 GB of VRAM and should be around the same price.
  17. What is your over all budget? Most of the time it is better to put together the best overall build possible for a certain amount of money. Recommendations for specific products make sense if you already have everything else and just one to upgrade one part. Do you have a monitor? What resolution and refresh rate do you intent to run? What kind of games? More esports or cinematic aaa?
  18. Is there anyone who has tested this? Sadly I don't have the money to get ten of each and test clock speed at given voltage. It was my belive, that if you are getting an after market cooler anyway the X offers not much of a value other than convenience. There are plenty of articles comparing 2700 oc vs 2700x stock but I did not find any reliable data that would indicate binning. I am on the phone though, so I got feed up on research pretty fast. If I cherry pick my examples there are benchmarks with OC both and show a higher OC for the non X but no background info on how testing and OC has been done.
  19. If you can wait a month or two Amd will launch ryzen 3rd Gen. And a i9 is kind of ludicrous considering for just gaming a 9600k is fine. If you want to stream or have some professional workloads you can consider the 9700k or the 9900k. And if you want to maybe save a few bucks and don't want the i5 you could get a 8700k.
  20. If you want to oc manually there is no point in getting the 2700X. Just get the non X and a decent cooler. Maybe consider something else than asus in the mobo department. There are better options in the current motherboard generation. Check out gigabytes and asrock x470 lineup. You get a better board probably for less money. If you can wait a bit more than a month the new Ryzen 3000 series is about to launch. Rumors speak of a massiv performance increase. But rumors being rumors and some people get too excited sometimes. we are probably still looking for a decent increase. I would actually only look at ssds with 500 gb or more with that kind of budget. Maybe not Samsung because you pay for a performance plus only very few applications can utilize.
  21. Depending on your location consider a Vega 56 or even a 64. In some regions there are crazy deals.
  22. Well, you are in both cases cooling with ambient air. The water in the aio has a higher thermal mass so it needs some time to hit equilibrium. But if it is hot the radiator and fans need some time to cool it down. An air cooler heats much faster but also need just seconds after the load is gone to get back to idle temp. In both cases you can only get to a few degree above ambient because you don't have a compressor and heat exchanger running wich would turn your cooler in a refrigerator. And a dark rock pro 4 or a nhd 15 will probably outperform 95% of the available aios on the market.
  23. kind of fitting how your profile .gif is turning
  24. You could get a Ryzen 5 1600. Someone said microcenter is selling them for 80 $. You will have a decent enough gaming experience. Upgrade to Ryzen 5 3600 or 3700 (if they stick to the naming schem) and just resell the 1600. Rumors are, that Zen 2 might be way higher IPC and higher clockspeed with a decent core count for the cheap (compared to intel). Rumors usually exaggerate but if the performance improvement is even half of the rumors it is worth the wait in my opinion.
  25. The 2700X is not the best buy considering 3rd gen ryzen is about to launch. You probably don't need a 970 EVO, you could get 500 GB for that price. The PSU is a bit overkill but not completely mad. The RAM seems a bit expensive. There are kits for 80 $ out there.
