  1. Before checking the power supply with another one, take a gander at your temps. If it seems absurdly high at idle, I'd reseat the cpu with some fresh thermal compound, and blow out any dust that may be there. I had a similar problem with a laptop I had. It would suddenly cut out with no explanation after working for a while. Thank goodness for the great repairability of HP's elitebooks! However, judging by your captures in the OP, power is a likely suspect. Anyway, check thermals before you go into looking at power supplies.
  2. Ah, alrighty then! Thanks for the update! I was a bit confusled. For your troubles, I'll let you know that I got Rick Rolled by type racer earlier today...yeah it was a bit weird. I knew I'd heard the words before...
  3. Okay, so I'm having a problem here. When I want to search the forum for something, be it for support, or news duplication checking, it uses just a google search instead of a custom one within the forum. Didn't there used to be a custom search. It's very jarring to search for something here and then be piped to google, and it totally ruins my jive for finding something on the forum. Is there some hidden setting somewhere that can switch on a search that stays on the forum website?
  4. I dunno if it came up earlier, I'm in a hurry at the moment. Aside from outdated software in the industry, there's also the whole matter of embedded systems to think about as well. I would need to do some research to find out what architecture embedded systems use most. However, I wouldn't be too surprised if a lot were based on 32 bit processing. Thus a need for 32 bit operating systems!
  5. Well for one it would be awesome nerd cred to have an enthusiast piece like that! It would also save me a great deal of money for my first build (money hasn't been in the cards as of yet). I would perhaps try a bit of video recording and streaming if I were to win this. Here's hoping that it happens!!!
  6. Thank you very much! I'll be sure to point it out to him. I think it might have been damaged contacts on the mini USB connector to the board. It was bent out of shape a little. The drive still got power and spun, it just wasn't able to make the USB connection. Have a good night!
  7. So, my housemate has a WD Green Drive (Internal not an external hiding in a shell), and he had a little board to covert the SATA connection to USB. This was so he could connect it to his laptop. That little board recently went kaput and stopped outputting a USB signal. Do you have any recommendations for SATA to USB Adapters to replace it? It'll need both SATA data and power.
  8. My oh my ooh my!!! Dem some beastly lookin' cards you got there! If I had a choice, I would chose the Omega. The build I want to do includes the msi M Power motherboards so I think the card would play much better in a theme. I won't hype up my expectations too high though, there's gonna be plenty of people in the drawing!
  9. Hey, I know you've already selected a best answer but just thought I'd put my input in. The build is mostly similar to H4X3R's, however with a couple of changes. I also removed the graphics card since intel's hd graphics is enough to drive two 1080p (it can support 3 altogether) monitors, and the onboard outputs are there for the taking. I also will admit that I am unaware of cost differences between America and the Netherlands due to economies. You could also keep the pentium and add more ram, dependent on whether your OS is 32 or 64 bit. 8GB with two 4GB sticks of the same memory for $404.40
  10. Oh, and every student receives a laptop from the school, and you never have to buy a book for a class, the school has all of the textbooks available for rent within their library. This is all included in the tuition, no extra charges.
  11. Well lets see, they have the same accreditation, Stout offers a strong career services program(companies come to them for the school's students), 2% of classes are 50 students or more, 18:1 student teacher ratio, once the degree is obtained, you automatically have Comp Sci. and Math minor (Not sure about Madison it's hard to navigate and squeeze info out of it), and all that for 10,000 USD less than Madison. I'd say that's a pretty darn good deal. Just because Madison costs more, and is the central university in the system does not necessarily make it a better institution. Stouts gotten students in coops with NASA for crying out loud!
  12. University of Wisconsin-Stout has a Computer Engineering major with a very good value for the quality of education you get. The program wasn't the right fit for me and I just transferred to a CIS/IT major, but the school has some very, very good professors there. I would recommend the school to anyone with a fitting major. Stout is also a polytechnic, so you, and employers will know that you have practical experience as well. And if you come along the tired phrase, "if in doubt go to Stout," please ignore it, it's just been some lame joke that people say since at one point, I think it was kinda a vocational school. Apart from that, Stout is a very good school, and I would recommend you give it some thought.
  13. I just tried it on their 64bit version, and it appears that this easter egg is not hidden in it.
