You have more patience than I have. I can have Windows reinstalled in 15 minutes and nearly all my programs reinstalled in less than an hour. When Windows gets that screwed up, you'll save a lot of time just wiping and starting over.

Good luck though if you intend to stick with it.

I did a in-place install and that should have fixed it. Not luck.

  2. When I run MSINFO32 I get "Cannot collect information" . This all came to light when trying to install Battle.net while I was collecting information for a support ticket. I ran MSINFO32 and got the got the cannot collect info message.

Blizzard tech support called me and tried to help me and told me after that I needed to in contact with Microsoft.

Here Are the things I have down

1 Renamed repository and let winmgmt rebuild it

2 Reset the repository in both ways suggested.

3 Spent hours online trying any solution I could find to fix MSINFO32.exe

4 Made another admin account and tried everything I have before

5 Switched to safe mode with all but MS services off tried everything I had before

6 Did a system restore to a point before all this started

    7 Did a in-place upgrade for Win 10

I am now in queue with MS support, so I thought I would ask you folks.

Any idea on how to fix this short of a full reinstall?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and maybe help

The temps are fine but i guess the cooler is going wild for the upper card. Pretty much the only way to cool both cards equally good is water cooling.

OK  that is good to know. I had the top card under water but after I moved I could not get it to cool righ. I am thinking the pump went bad or air in the system. So until I get time to figure it out everything is air cooled.  Thank you.

  4. I have 2 RTX 2080 TI's linked. My bottom card idles  in the mid 30's C. My top card I cannot get below the mid to upper 40's C.  Under 100% load it gets to the mid 80's.

I'd love to get the top card cooler.  I have 6 120mm intake fans and 1 140mm exhaust.

Am I just worring to much and these temps are fine. Or is there something more I can do?

    Thanks for your time.

  5. Have an ASUS RT-AC68U and 4 Phylink wireless security cameras. And I have an issue that I cannot figure out. The cameras will show up connected to the router and with the program that came with them. At times one up to all of them will not send video and show disconnect to the Phylink program that came with them and cannot be connected to with any of my browsers.( but still show up connected to the router) I have done everything I can to fix this. Right now 2 of them are out of service. One of them brand new and I cannot get it set up due not being able to get to it through the browser. I thought at first it was my daughter's iPhone and Apple Laptop because it seemed to only happen when she was home. But I have ruled that out. I would appreciate any help.

No second modem needed. Acutally the only way you can have a second modem on your account generally is if one if being used for internet and the other is for voice. Besides that one modem per account. You would litterally have to open up a secondary internet account at full price to use a second modem.

Your best bet is to run Ethernet to where the dead zone is and install a wireless access point. You could also install a swtich if you need more Ethernet ports in that general area. If Ethernet is not an option then look in to power line and moca adapters. Moca being the better of the two.

Thanks for the advice. It helps a lot.  It also happens that I need a phone line in my office so maybe I can lump it all together.

Yeah it should auto roll when error occurred. When doing major update, windows will backup all necessary files from the previous version (windows_old folder). That's why it need some free space to upgrade.

I understand that but it skipped over 6 months of backups to get to that one. I checked the one it skipped over and they were fine./ shrug. Only the Pope Of Windows knows what in the minds of windows. thank.

Windows update do have some occasional glitches.

One time i had to reinstall windows due to boot failure.

You are lucky windows can be rolled back.

Funny thing is, I did not roll it back, it did it all on it's own, after it rebooted the last time. I have everything backed up on site and off but I still do not know where it pulled the backup from.

  9. Was upateding my Windows 10 64bit to the latest 1903 version. And my system completely crapped its self.  It somehow rolled my system back to a April 2019 recovery point, plus got rid of my WIFI drivers. Took me 3 hours to sort it all out. Had to rest the BIOS to get my WIFI back.  It even reinstalled programs I had uninstalled. Does anyone have any idea what the hell happened? Or do I need to call in a priest or a vooduan?

  10. I retried from the Army 5 years ago.  But stupid me should have read the fine print that said I was still part of the inactive reserves. For 6 years. And sure enough with 6 months left they dragged be back in to be a trainer and reset the clock. Don't get me wrong I like the money but when I get up in the morning my bones sound like two skeletons tap dancing on a tin roof.  I am to old for this crap. And the next Sgt that calls me gramps I will punch.

From a "national security" standpoint consumer gear could have been left out, but this also being used as a "weapon" in the trade disagreements. I can not speak to as the long game here, but if you look at Australia who where the 1st ones to place a ban on Huawei infrastructure gear, (last August) it took a while for other nations to follow suite but now that they are it puts more and more pressure on China from a trade side, this pressure could be used to push China into a more equitable trade agreement with different parties not just in the US or Australia but globally.

Trade by nations is very messed up, The US is looking to impose countervailing tariffs not just on China, but on any trade partner that "cheats" on its trade deals using currency manipulation and illegal export subsidies (this the EU). As such bans add pressures to force the hand of the other players to agree to changes or in this case to follow the rules. The US has the 2nd lowest tariff rates in the world at 1.6% Canada is the lowest at 0.8% but the US ends up paying much higher rates at the end of the day when dealing with partners as they knew they could cheat the system and for years the US looked the other way. The US is no longer looking the way and is starting to play hardball. Banning China access to US Tech affects China on a globalized scale and one that they might not be able to weather.

We are trying to bring jobs back to the US. As it is now we are a consumer nation, not a nation that can stand on its own two feet.  And if you do not think other countries do not do the same thing you should look into it.  Take lumber a lot of the wood we cut here is exported to China at pennies on the dollar compared to what you have to pay here. Steel is another one. Ask any metal worker what they think of imported Chinese steel. Blacksmiths and Ferries will not use it, any anvil made there they call an ALD anvil-like device. I have seen both anvils and vices made there break.  Sometimes explosively, I have a scar under my left eye from an anivlI I was using basically shattered, violently. Got one now over 150 years old and still rocking. ( if I could still use it lol)  Americans what cheap goods and to me really do not seem to care for the quality.

  12. You cannot sue Federal or State governments unless they allow you or you can convince a Federal judge.  And I see the reasoning and agree with it. If you do not think the Chinese government de-facto controls the company's there you are very naive. I love how when people do not like something the first thing they want to do is sue.  It's one of the many reasons medical care is so high. But that is another subject.  SMDH

If you are only now becoming a grandfather, then you're nowhere nearly as old as I am and, I assure you, getting old IS all that bad (and I have the aches and pains to prove it)!

Oh from 22 years in the Army I have many aches and pains. But I do not notice them as much. I sure as hell do not feel 55.

  14. A few weeks back I was trying to give away free so old tech parts on the Classified board. Free no charge just postage. I followed the guidelines as close as I could since it was free, And it got taken down and I really never understood. What's bad about being altruistic and giving parts away free.?
