Saved up for months to get a new PC. Bought my CPU when I finally found a good deal. Went out and bought a motherboard the same day the CPU arrived because I couldn't wait anymore. Wasn't the motherboard I wanted nor was it a good deal. Worst decision ever.

That product basically just combines the downsides of a tower and a laptop. Without any benefits. How did this review end up being positive at all? (Just for the record: I agree on disagreeing with Linus on the PSU's, they are a horrible idea IMO.)

Just joined with win7 (in browser) and Arch Linux...Is here anyone running f@h on Arch? (I need some help...)

I'd really be interested in some blind testing of SSDs...I don't think anyone would notice any difference what so ever. I normally recommend the Adata SP900 and had no problems with them so far

(Hab nur die letzte Seite gelesen...schonwieder 240 Notificaticons) -> um gleich mal bei "verrückte Experimente", "Speedtest" und expoldierenden Dingen einzusteigen: Ich hab heut 5 SSDs in mein NAS gebaut und will da diverse Benchmarks damit machen -> jemand ne Idee welches tool ich da unter Linux/Ubuntu verwenden kann/soll?

I normally have a NAS with Arch and an Software-RAID (5). For the next few days I will have the same Hardware constellation, but with one slight difference: I put 5 SSD's instead of HDD's in there for benchmarking/bottleneck-spotting purposes. Specs: FM2A85X-ITX AMD A6-5400K (2 x 3,6GHz) 8 GB DDR3 1600 5 x 256GB Adata SP900 (The normal-NAS should be listed somewhere in the 10TB+ thread) My Question: I normally use Atto to do my Disk benchmarks. Which similar or other good benchmarking tools for Linux would you recommend? I'm looking forward to do benchmarks with RAID 1 (max. controller throughput), 5 and 6. Thanks in advance

I have 5 x 2TB Seagate in my NAS and gigabit is nearly always the limit (-> ~120MB/s). I use an dualcore A6-5400K, 8GB of ram and linux software-raid 5.

What I have: An old(er) pc, (green/cooper-ish mainboard), ~100W TDP the desire to put some custom hard-tube water cooling on it a friend with an cnc machine some money & time What I want to do: build a custom, mostly open case for it (just for information) make this thing my first custom loop rigid tubing a custom cpu block What I want to have afterwards: a good looking pc So, I know that it is completely unnecessary to put water cooling on this thing. The main focus on doing this is to have some fun, learn/gain some experience and maybe have some nice looking build afterwards. The hardware I use is dispensable. Event though I want to make this happen for a long time now: The project is in a really early stage at this moment. I have some pictures in my head on how I want this thing to look like, but I haven't brought them to paper jet. What I want from you guys: I will put a list of the parts I picked below, please tell me if they fit together or what I should change. I want to make the cpu block out of cooper with a plastic top (like some of these EK blocks) -> how do I seal this thing up? Alternatively to the copper/plastic block I had the idea to do both parts out of cooper and then solder them together -> would this work? Where can I get more information on how to make custom cooling blocks? some feedback, ideas, ... komm bei Nvidia und Intel auch auf >1000€ . Wenn er einen zukunftssicheren Build will würd ich aber auch das Geld für eine GTX970 drauflegen, anstatt jetzt eine schwächere Karte zum nehmen. Hier fehlt natürlich ein Case, weil der irgendwo einfach Geschmacksache ist ^^ (pcpartpicker holt sich leider keine Preise von mindfactory oder alternate, da sind die teile oft billiger als auf der liste jetz...) SSD hat er schon eine(?) -> die könnte raus würde den ram durch z.B. den hier ersetzten, da er ne dedizierte Karte hat macht die Geschwindigkeit +- keinen Unterschied bei der HDD würde ich entweder eine gleichteure mit 2TB nehmen oder etwas günstigeres von Seagate/WD (korrigiert mich wenn ich da komplett aufm Holzweg bin) Kombiniert mit dem ein oder anderen Angebot sollte da die 970 noch mit drin sein...

So ich geb dann auch mal meinen Senf dazu 1150: Für Spiele Besseres Preis/Leistungsverhältnis DDR3 besser für Spiele (geringere Latenzen) Bewährter Standard, stabil 2011v3 Fürs Rendern/VMs DDR4 besser für Rendering ((bald) höhere Kapazität, deutlich mehr Datendurchsatz) Teilweise noch nicht ausgereift was OC angeht (siehe JayzTwoCents) Early Adopter -> man muss über die nächsten Monate Preisstürze verkraften Sata-Express, Mehr Lanes für z.B. zukünftige Pcie SSDs, zusätzliche Grakas etc bei Asus Boards unschlagbare onboard(!) Lüftersteuerung Sata dass es kracht Noch ne kleine Anmerkung: Ich würde mit 2011v3 noch etwas warten, und wenns doch gleich und sofort sein muss dann würd ich zumindest den Ram noch etwas zurückstellen, der scheint mir noch sehr am Anfang zu stehen...vill erst 8gb und in ein Paar Monaten dann aufs Ganze (es werden theoretische 512GB Riegel angepriesen...) Edit: Kommt heut noch jmd in TS?

Wieviel hattest denn momentan eingeplant für den ganzen Spaß auszugeben? -> Ich will in sehr absehbarer Zeit meinen NAS ein wenig ausbauen...da sind momentan 5 x 2TB Platten drin...nur eben voll Falls interesse besteht: Ich hab die Platten nicht zusammen gekauft, sind allerdings alles die Gleichen (Seagate, kaum gelaufen, liebevoll behandelt ). Bilder, Smart Werte etc. könnte ich noch nachreichen Btw: Ich hatte die Platten unter Linux im Software Raid am Laufen -> so grob abgeschätzt sollte selbst nen schlechter Dualcore mit etwas Ram mehr als 1Gbit Durchsatz hinbekommen...und somit das Lan zum Flaschenhals machen

eigentlich will ich nur 8...aber preislich lohnen sich 16 mehr :rolleyes:
