  1. Athlon X4 750K is AMD A10-5800K without iGPU, so Athlon X4 760K should be AMD A10-6800K, I would suggest go for 760K if its possible, as there are few tweaks and it overclocks better. Get a good A85X and OC crap out of your 760k/750k, but dont forget about cooling. And get a good GPU, 7950 if getting cheaper and GTX 760 is a good alternative. Dont worry about bottlenecks or expensive ram, Athlon dont need hi speed memory.
  2. Well, power from a good PSU is clenaer and will degrade your battery slower. Sometimes charging from the wall will degrade your battery faster, there are other things that can kill your battery faster. Worst case is chargeing in the car on start or/and alternator.
  3. Why air? Well, there are water molecules in the air.
  4. Well, AS5 acts as a capacitor with all consequences. "(While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths.)"
  5. I dropped it near southbridge when I changed thermal compound for it. Just a little bit. I just cleaned big stuff, didnt clean it completely as it was MX-2. BTW, great video from TekSyndicate.
  6. I would argue that. I have my opinion from experience I have with electronic components. Few years ago when I was looking for good thermal compound there was two options AS5 or AC MX-2, I chose MX-2 as its without metal particles so you could say its a safer option. I am not saying its good to cover motherboard with thermal compound, I am saying it would be worse if you spilled AS5.
  7. Well, I have gotten messy with MX-2 and it works fine for few years already, I know I didnt get it all clean, but MX-2 is without metal particles so I am not worried about any problems with it. Still, I cant agree its fine for beginners as it can get messy and damage some components. But I know AS5 and MX-2/4 are both great and are very close, I just chose safer option.
  8. I know, but it still can damage your system and I guess most of people saying that AS5 is conductive means its capacitive and as all capacitors it can be shortened out. So its best treated as conductive material to avoid damage. AS5 is a great product but I wont suggest it to beginners because it can do some damage if you are not careful. I use AC MX-4 and I have no problems with it.
  9. AS5 still can short circuit elements on pcb and technically conduct electric energy. So be extra careful when using AS5!
  10. Well, It would be about Sata3 speed in Raid 0, I have in my PC Sata3 SSD on Sata2 port (old platform) and for everyday use its fine. I have sandforce drive, so it is what it is after some time and when it gets filled. You could use one drive as a storage for OS and other one for software it would be safer and possibly stable option.
  11. How much is it? Well, Vector with 840 Pro are top SSDs, so Its a great deal.
  12. BTW, for Vector 512GB price you can get 3x Vector 256GB, that would be great Raid 0. I am concerned with a price drop because Vector 256GB cost as much as Samsung 840.
  13. So, in Latvia OCZ Vector`s 256 GB price droped from 320$ to 230$, at NCIX it`s 250$ after 50$ instant rebate, Newegg 270$, so should I worry and look the other way or should I buy a new Vector for myself? And maybe extra one just in case.
  14. I have OCZ Agility 3 for year or even more and its fine. Before you install OS flash firmware and it should be fine.
  15. Good contest, I would love to win as I could use upgrade from Q6600. Thanks for making great show, reviews and enjoying what you do.
  16. Well, you could look at FX 6300 and AMD 970 or AMD 990FX motherboards. 970 series would be cheaper and you could go with GTX 660 or AMD 7870
  17. Well, make exact copy of your OS on separate hdd/ssd, make sure it works with your AMD system. Put new system on test bench and try to boot with copy of original OS. If there are some problems with Win7 try to upgrade to Win8 and see if it will solve them.
  18. I have had problems with going from Asrock to Gigabyte on AM2 platform. But when I changed MB for my Q6600 from Intel to MSI, I had no problems. So make a back up for OS drive and try it out. If new MB is unstable or some problems with your current OS you can connect everything back to old MB while you look for solution. Upgrade from Win7 to Win8 could do the trick and solve few problems, if there will be any. And try your new PC on the test bench, like MB box to see how it works.
