What CPU do you have, it sounds like you said the igpu had video output while pcie wouldn't display. Get a cmos battery first, but then you gotta look at the power supply and use a known good unit.

My first instinct is pointing me to the power supply or power related error. I would take the motherboard out of the case and put your system together on your desk/table to isolate from a short/ground. Double check that all psu connectors are fully seated.

As mentioned, that power supply is a lil suspect. Also, a 2 or 4 TB HDD isn't much more $ than the 1TB.

Ok, yeah that mobo is kinda crap. AMD is rumored to be supporting ryzen 3000 cpu's on current AM4 socket motherboards with just a bios flash update needed. You could get a nicer full feature AM4 motherboard and just get a placeholder cpu. That way you'll be all set when the new chips drop. I like the Asus Prime X470-Pro. It'll take any ryzen cpu on the market. You could get a ryzen 3 2200g for under $100 but if you are going to sell it in 4 months, I think you'd have an easier time unloading a used Ryzen 5 2600 and getting your money back out of it..

Don't forget to add the price of a new motherboard to the ryzen cpu. And, yes even 2 or 3 generations ago Intel parts (all still 14nm/16nm fab) will game far better than AMD chips due to higher ipc and turbo boost frequencies. Shop around, the i7 8700 non k should be a lil over $300 US where the i5 8600K is around $240. Its the new 9th gen i9 parts that should be around $500 US. Like I said, comparison shop a bunch, $450 sounds very high for last generation parts. Edit: just be sure that you are purchasing an 8th gen intel cpu to replace your 8th gen core i3. Intel messed with the chipset and the 9th gen cpu's will NOT work in 8th gen motherboards.

I'd go for a core i7 8700 k/or(non k) either one. It will just drop in and be a beast. AMD 7nm in the Radeon VII is slightly disappointing, but hey, i've been wrong before. I'd say go with the proven performer i7.

The 2400g can run by itself, The ryzen 5 2600 has no display output onboard.

Okay, its cool. Other than that, I think 550 watt psu might be just a tad low for the rtx 2070. If it was my build, i'd get at least a 650.

Agreed, get the nvme m.2 drive for the os and critical programs, but get a 2tb barracuda for games and stuff.

A 1-2 pwm fan splitter will cause ZERO harm to your motherboard and fans. The more important consideration is that beyond 3/4 fans, any more have a negligible effect on in case air temps. To see any more reduction in hardware temps, you will need to adjust the ambient temp of the air in your room.

I'd go at the front panel first. Most new cases have no media bays. If you can get a couple pieces of acrylic, paint the exterior one black but leave it a couple millimeters gap on all four sides so it has a floating effect. Maybe put an rgb strip behind it to give it a lighting halo or something. Oh, when modding, superglue is your friend. I think the 9th gen core i7 no longer has hyperthreading so you'd be stuck with 8core/8thread. The ryzen 7 2700 is a 8core/16thread chip. The Intel i7 has a much higher turbo boost frequency so it would get you an extra 10-15 fps in gaming. Its also a hundred dollars more. It really depends on your work/game split. If you mostly game, go intel. If you mostly work, go AMD. In my opinion anyway.

Absolutely, so long as you don't try to go for world record overclocks. At factory settings the cpu is rated at roughly 100 watts and the gpu at roughly 200-250 watts. Everything else in the system added up is like another 20 watts, so in total you're at, lets say 400 watts. Plenty of headroom for an 80+ Gold rated psu from SeaSonic. And the monitor runs off your wall power not thru the pc power supply.

Bitwit Kyle, Jayz2cents and Luke when he still worked for LTT all did experiments on airflow configurations and radiator placement. I think the consensus is that it really doesn't matter that much but if you wanted to drop the temp inside your rig by 2-3 degrees C, mount your rad at the top of your case and exhaust thru it out the top.

Ehhh, not really for gaming. If you do more content creation or editing or streaming, sure. But the lower turbo boost frequency will really hurt you in game. Let us know what your primary usage will be and perhaps the total budget for the system.

The i5 is a six core??? I think, but the Ryzen 5 2600 has 12 threads so better for multi tasking, streaming and work related stuff. In general, Intel has higher boost frequencies that games like if that is all you need the system for. The ryzen is a little bit cheaper, but as I said, if all you are doing is gaming, the Intel 8600k will do alot better for you.
