  1. I'd go for the 2400G honestly. You won't regret it. It's basically an i7-3770K with a gtx 750 Ti strapped to it. Really good value.
  2. You can probably adjust your CPU Fan's curve in your BIOS settings. But yeah, the fan does spin up quickly. - I do have a wraith cooler from my 1700.
  3. If anything, unplug everything and take your time. Use a soap soaked cloth at first, and rinse the panel off with a water only cloth. This lets you do it on a table or on a bed.
  4. Are you using some surround feature in Nvidia Control panel?
  5. I use my GTX 1070 with a Freesync 1440p 144hz IPS monitor. My card is powerful enough to where I don't have to worry about fps variations so much. High refresh rate > adaptive refresh rate in my opinion.
  6. Use a microfiber with soap and water. Get those greasy hand marks off first.
  7. You might wanna try and boot with only the boot drive plugged in to the pc. If you're able to boot, try to download EasyBCD, it's a tool I used to use to manage advanced boot manager, when I was dualbooting Win7 and Win10. Also it seems that your motherboard using legacy BIOS mode. I'm not sure but I don't think UEFI mode uses advanced boot manager anymore.
  8. Yeah that looks like a dead gpu. Try contacting the manufacturer, they might be able to help you further.
  9. You might wanna look at your GPU temperatures. Disable any overclocks. Try cleaning up your machine, blow out dust out of connections, etc.
  10. Just want to further explain why I think the 980Ti is the best choice right now : most anything below its price is either overpriced or not worth the upgrade from the 1050. And anything better than a 980Ti is extremely expensive right now. I think it matches my GTX 1070 in most situations, but it's not energy efficient enough for mining. I think it's the sweetspot right now. With US$400 you can probably get a used one. Anytime!
  11. If you can find, as mentionned earlier, a cheap, used GTX 980Ti in your area, It would be the easiest way to achieve better gaming performance. You might want to upgrade both your cpu and PSU as well if you end up going this route. Anything over 600 watts and 80+ certified is plenty for a single 980Ti. You might be able to get that psu money by selling some components. Sounds like PUBG worked hard on optimizing the game, that's awesome. I was having trouble running high framerates (100Hz +) with my GTX 1070 when I tried it a year ago! So yeah I'd lean towards the better GPU if you really want better gaming performance.
  12. How much gaming? I mean do you feel like you need more performance right now? Is your system struggling with games? Yeah well if he sticks to lower end, more recent GPUs, there shouldn't be a problem. No need to scare him lol.
  13. Yeah the priorities are right on with the CPU/SSD. So sad to see how expensive GPUs are right now... The only GPU I would consider worth getting right now is probably a used GTX 980Ti, but even then I don't know if our buddy here has a powerful enough PSU.
  14. I think you are right in saying that an SSD would be an important upgrade, along with a better CPU, something like an i5-7600K. But I think only if @dial up internet is going to spend a lot of time web browsing he might want to upgrade his RAM. I'm currently using two 1440p monitors and have 10 browser tabs open, yet I barely use 6gb of ram. Keep in mind that browsers take into consideration your total amount of ram when deciding how much of it they should allocate. Still, I think we need a bit more input from @dial up internet to help him with his upgrades.
  15. I don't think he needs 8 more Gb of RAM, unless he is running out of memory already. More than 8 Gb of RAM doesn't affect gaming performance.
