  1. HDMI splitter that has toslink out, toslink to soundbar. You would need a DR Hdmi or similiar with HDCP rewrite otherwise.
  2. This is why having variable refresh rate is important - get a display that supports gsync or freesync and then let it ride, you won't be at 144hz but it should much smoother than if you were stuck at 60hz
  3. You need to actively cool the memory modules, hook up a fan, put some heatsinks on the modules, or get a waterblock with active backplate (i'm installing one this weekend so I will let you know ^_^ )
  4. If you are looking for a stupid project maybe you can find (or have crafted) a cable or dingle or adapter board and it would have to have display, power, and pcie all in one breakout then find a cooler (thermaltake orb?) and modify brackets to make it fit. Considering its age? I don't think its worth the hassle. Video cards don't age well, especially niche form factor ones from 10+ years ago.
  5. Its possible the keyboard and elgato pull too much current however generally you would think windows would throw up an overpower warning. USB can be fishy =) Grab a USB C to A cord with a 56k ohm resistor in it and see if that alleviates the issue. (something like this https://www.amazon.com/USB-C-Charger-Cable-Pull-up-Resistor/dp/B072JCL7JC/ ) Edit: Or grab a higher current capable USB Type C PCIE card and plug in the aux power, probably the best longterm solution.
  6. Use a z590 board with 11th gen as you won't get PCIE4.0 otherwise. I would suggest stepping down to an 11600k or 11700k and save a bit of $ - the 11900k is going to use a lot of power and put off a fair bit of heat.
  7. Not really, its got most of the VRM of the xtreme at a fraction of the cost. Better VRM heatsink, better IO section, all that fancy crap. I found myself trying to compare it to the MSI godlike more than the other MSI boards. The x570 Unify looks like a nice board and does have a PS/2 port if you are into that sort of thing. I've got a z490 unify and its been a pain, i've worked with a number of MSI boards x570, trx4, etc and they have all just been a pain in the ass with memory this generation. Edit: Dammit, was looking at the Z590 master and ogling - its a pretty even comparison
  8. This list looks good, maybe save a bit and grab the B550 Tomahawk but otherwise things look good.
  9. I've had less than stellar results with MSI and memory compatibility/overclocking recently (intel and AMD). Be careful and stick with QVL listed combinations. Or, better yet, grab the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master and have better luck with ram than an MSI x570 godlike could do. YMMV
  10. Attached is the QVL - The ram you got is too new sadly, it runs at too high of a base frequency. most of the QVL ram above 1333 is XMP or other overlocked ram running higher voltage than stock. Yours, by comparison, is running LOWER voltage - this is a hallmark of later DDR3 controllers being able to run PC3L at normal speeds. R3G MemQVL20100708.pdf
  11. DIMM_A2 - Populate 4th DIMM_A1 - *Populate 1st * DIMM_B2 - Populate 5th DIMM_B1 - *Populate 2nd* DIMM_C2 - Populate 6th DIMM_C1 - *Populate 3rd*
  12. That is a triple channel motherboard. to use the new ram you would have to leave 1 out and do 3 sticks of 4.. which gets you right back to 12gb. Populate the red slots first, then the black slots. Edit: Also, what CPU do you have in this thing? Its possible it may not like 1600mhz native ram at all, since this is an early DDR3 chipset as opposed to the x79 which is a later ddr3 (1066 to 1333 versus 1600 to 1866)
  13. Lenovo sells a version of its USB type C dock that can be used with Display Port Alt Mode, assuming one (or both) of the ports supports DP alt mode you should be good.
  14. If you are using 16gb sticks they are going to be dual rank out of hte gate (usually) - look to gskill ripjawsV - these are B die dual rank sticks that clock well
