  1. As long as you unlatch the CPU from the CPU retention arm, then the only thing holding the CPU to the motherboard is the pins and gravity if on its side.
  2. Cooler was glued to CPU via the thermal paste. I did not try to heat it up first, tbh, just knew it was stuck and prayed I wouldnt bend a pin, but did. I used the wiggle, wiggle, yoink method
  3. This is how I bent 2 pins on a 1700 I replaced with a 5600x lol Socket is plastic I wouldnt worry about that. Also I bent the pins straight, CPU works fine now
  4. Swap the kits around to and try agian, should support 3200mhz, but could be the board as a B450 and they just dont have that listed in the specs (as well)
  5. What I was getting at, and had forgotten, is that the CPU itself, has its own memory controller. So does the motherboard Motherboard can go up to 4400mhz per the manual CPU can go up to 3200mhz per the manual Lowest common denominator is spec, anything else is overclocking. Id manually set it to 3200mhz if DOCP is having an issue (and make sure BIOS is up to date)
  6. Terribly, needs a whole bunch of other parts to work If your CPU is jank, likely very poorly, as noted above
  7. Turn off PC, press and hold F2, turn on PC, will go into ASUS bios. But Im an idiot, that CPU is not gauranteed to run at 4400mhz. 3200mhz only
  8. The board doesnt state in the manual that i could find that using both channels can have a reduced frequency (example, my ASRock B450 with 4 sticks runs at a lower speed than in the A1/B1 config per the manual). Are you on the latest BIOS revision? Each update adds more compatibility across brands etc (especially if you are mixing RAM modules of different bins etc)
  9. This is likely the reason: asus prime b450m-a II Ill pull up the owners manual shortly here

To build a new PC this year with x3D zen 4, or…

Id wait if you can stomach it.
  14. Then you have your answer - any GPU that needs up to 75w will work in that slot, and with that PSU setup. GTX 1650 - some of them are able to be powered from the slot alone. 240w PSU -51w at peak CPU usage -75w at peak GPU usage 126w left (BTW that is likely a decent LiteOn PSU that come with these prebuilts) On the high side 15w per stick of RAM 30w for an HDD 50w for mobo (assuming here) 30w for DVD drive So if you are running an SSD and no optical drive I dont see a single issue.
  15. What model motherboard - these prebuilts either provide 50% of the normal power expected to a PCIE slot, or the normal amount (75w)

Its basically down hill from here. Sorry
  17. Secondarily you can replace the PSU, and if the board requires special PSU to mobo connectors get a special cable that modifies all that - I have first hand experience with all of this.
  18. You can run a i5 3470 (77w CPU, yours is 51w) and a GTX 1060 on a 240w PSU. JUST barely Recommend a 1050 ti as pairing, but check first if your board can supply 75w at the PCIe slot or will have to daisychain off the PSU molex connectors if it has an additional power need/brick to plug in.
  19. I dont know enough to get further than I did, mine was very shadetree and luck of the lottery (I have 5 1700's overall and 2 of them are just flat out OC performers. Its like they were intentionally binned as 1700s but could have been 1800x's no problem (at stock voltage I can keep them at 4.0 constant etc) Keep up the lords work!
  20. Nice job! I was once #5 for the R7 1700 OC for a long while when that chip came out, last I looked I was in top 12 but I kind of left OCing behind lol (just ran out of time to really get into the weeds of it). But this post gives me the itch lol. I havent tried OCing on my RTX 2060 or RX 6700 XT yet at all.
  21. Ive used that exact same hub with zero issues in builds but with generic fans Could be faulty components in a batch they shipped. Those fans run at either 7v or 12v perhaps thats just a shitty resistor and its building up far to much heat resisting? What is LOW rated on the hub?
  22. 4c/8t would struggle with 4k playback in Premiere especially as you add layers - need to set the playback resolution to 1/4 to get better playback in Premiere. What version of adobe are you using?
