  1. Not always true. For example, Canadian Federal and Provincial Privacy laws apply to both companies and individuals. If you knowingly misuse a Canadian citizen's personal information because the company told you to, both the company and yourself could be held liable. Highly advise you read all laws that apply to everything about your job, cause even if something isn't illegal in your jurisdiction, it very well could be in the jurisdiction of the company's customers. Do you want ants World War III? Because this is how you get ants WWIII. Don't be a "yes" person. Questioning everything. Understand why. Then do the work. (As an added bonus, asking "why" multiple times often uncovers efficiency improvement opportunities, so it's in a business's best interest to have their employees seek out ways to work smarter, not harder.)
  2. Oh, I don't disagree, however, you don't actually "own" digital products - you purchase a license to use them. Again, I think this is just as shitty for the consumer as anyone else, but unless the license guarantees perpetual functionality of the digital goods, it's unreasonable to go after Steam for this. Instead, governments should mandate some kind of regulation that guarantees the same functionality (or better) of any digital goods you purchase under a digital license as when they were originally released, up to and including workarounds developers must provide for a minimum timeframe. Unfortunately, given that we're still using copyright law from the 90's (based on even more archaic laws from years prior), I'm not holding my breath that modern day governments are even capable of understanding how to "govern" anything in the digital realm.
  3. YouTube has given in to... what exactly? All I see here is a UI modal with 2 "x" close buttons. Sorry, not sorry "X" (formerly Twitter) service - if you didn't want people to mistake your logo or company name for being an extra "X" close / exit UI element, you shouldn't have made it look like a UI element used in digital interfaces for over 50 years.
  4. It's a workstation / enterprise / server motherboard. What is "what the?" about it?
  5. Uh, what? Microsoft discontinued Mainstream support for Windows 7 on Jan 13, 2015 - if you want to point the finger at a company for "demonstrating a lack of care" point it at the OS developer first, not third party (to Windows) software developers. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-7
  6. Placing a Gen4 NVMe SSD into a Gen3 slot will indeed "utilize the gen 3 slot at its max" whilst doing nothing to harm the Gen4 drive.
  7. You may find this Google Help article useful. https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6193313?hl=en
  8. Oh good - another Data Broken Removal company to add to my Company Blacklist™. I did a brief analysis of DeleteMe's sister service IronVest, linked below. The results were extremely unfavorable for a privacy / security focused company.
  9. Safe or not, they violate copyright holders in most jurisdictions.
  10. The developer would need to compile the software with support for modern Windows OS themes. Given the name "TuneLab 97" I'm guessing this software is ancient, thus was probably never developed when dark / light mode was a thing within modern Windows OS's. If the developer doesn't wish to update their app and you've no other alternative, you may be able to invert the colors of a single app as a workaround. https://superuser.com/questions/657653/win7-invert-colors-of-one-specific-window
  11. Wow. If a company is going to commit fraud, it's probably best to not be so obvious about it. (Charging a customer for an unreturned device despite having actually received it amounts to fraud in my eyes.) Based on your and @Virixiss recollections above, combined with everything I've read about Asurion on various subreddits, I agree that LMG should not take them on as a sponsor.
  12. Technically they have one for the store, since the store is hosted by Shopify. https://www.shopify.com/ca/bugbounty https://hackerone.com/shopify?type=team
  13. Deal only for Amazon.co.uk buyers. Please ensure you update your thread title to indicate this, as users outside the UK region waste time thinking this deal applies to them / their country. Thanks!
  14. Excuse me, but I think you mean to say "copyright infringement" is actually "Domestically Copyrightious Infingeyminty of the Terroristic Viscosity." This is why I use networking equipment that injects a link to a legal contract in every response packet sent to servers I access. The contract indicates that the server operators agree to only send data to my network that I deem meets my personal "Terms and Conditions" and that by allowing me to connect they agree to the terms. My terms also include a clause about "overruling all other contracts" that would otherwise contradict said terms. You know, the same kind of legal verbiage websites believe they're entitled to use within their own Terms and Conditions. Checkmate, corporations. /s For the record, the above paragraph is partially a joke written to exemplify just how nitty grittily silly this whole argument is. Content creators should be paid for their work, however, consumers deserve safe, secure, private access to the content. Neither YouTube, nor Twitch, nor any other large corporate owned platform currently offer this kind of access. Until savvy consumers can access content without fear of being tracked, their information stolen, devices compromised, etc. they will continue looking for alternative methods to access content that meet their needs. It's a "free market", right? Remember, kids: "piracy is not a pricing issue. It’s a service issue," and always will be until capitalism morphs into a more sustainable model. https://www.gamesradar.com/gabe-newell-piracy-issue-service-not-price/
  15. Site builders like Wix and Squarespace are limited to the confines of however they've designed their system. This allows novice website designers (aka small business clients who can't afford to pay someone or don't need to create something bespoke) to build a basic site within the confines of the system for a relatively affordable price. On the flipside, the platform's design and framework can limit your capabilities or even growth, depending on your needs. IMO, Wix is fine as a means of getting started, but I recommend most of my small business clients go with Squarespace if they don't need / can't afford something custom built, or at the very least a WordPress / Node.JS site. Really, it all boils down to what you're trying to build with this website, and where you see things headed in the future. Feel free to share some details about your site and goals and we can make some suggestions if you want.
  16. You'll want to contact Steinberg and ask for a driver that actually works. If they don't or won't provide one, you'll want to return the hardware product to the store you purchased it from, or replace it with a hardware audio device that's supported on modern Operating Systems. (I see the Steinberg CI1 was first available on Amazon in 2010, so it's done quite well considering we're now 13 years into the future.) https://www.amazon.com/Steinberg-CI1-USB-Audio-Interface/dp/B003WI3LNU/
  17. What @Falcon1986 said; it's impossible for us to know whether or not your router offers XYZ setting if you don't tell us what router you have. More importantly, what is your actual goal? What are you trying to do here? I understand you want to block "domain names" but why? Are you trying to safeguard your network from malicious online services? Are you trying to setup Parental Controls? Are you trying to piss off other network users? I ask because sometimes there's a better solution to achieve your end goal that someone might suggest if you make your end goal known. My favorite go-to resources for learning how to ask good questions are the following: https://xyproblem.info/ http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html Additionally, no amount of network / device security will block access to XYZ thing 100% of the time, all the time. Kids will find a way around Parental Controls (for example: if the kids have admin access to the device, they can just change their DNS settings or route the connection through a free VPN) therefore Parental Controls should never be used as a replacement for actually parenting your kids or other family members.
  18. You'll first want to contact the ISP to ask if they permit such a setup. Most ISPs would much rather prefer every unit in this building have an account at its official Civic Address as assigned by the municipality. Once you find that out, we can make suggestions as to how you might proceed.
  19. What @Donut417 noted about software being unable to fix a hardware issue is entirely true. Also, regardless of the warranty center's "tests," the WiFi card stopped working after they performed their work, so it's their responsibility to fix this, even if it occurred as a result of shipping. You can either try re-seating the WiFi card, even though you mention this might be a lot of work due to how the laptop was manufactured, or you can contact whomever did the warranty work to ask them why the WiFi stopped working right after they performed their work.
  20. Bypass all networking devices except for one of the two problem PCs by connecting one of those PCs directly to the Internet Modem. Test the connection with things connected this way for a period of time to see if the issue disappears. Slowly add network devices back to the network topology until the problem recurs. Bingo bango, you've found the culprit.
  21. TCP Config File for... what exactly? Need a lot more information about what you're trying to do with the router. Based on TP-Link's online user guide, the AX11000 router supports VPN Server functionality, but cannot connect to another VPN as a client. https://www.tp-link.com/us/user-guides/archer-ax11000_v1/chapter-11-vpn-server https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/201930
  22. Sony's official support documentation doesn't provide instructions if license restoration fails, so you'll want to contact Sony support. https://www.playstation.com/en-ca/support/games/restore-licences-playstation/
  23. This is something you'll want to contact X support about. If X operates anything like Facebook, notifications about deleted content should also disappear if the content itself is deleted or otherwise becomes unavailable.
  24. I own an iPad Mini 5 that gets used infrequently for a handful of iOS only music / DJ apps. Now that Apple's latest iPad Mini no longer offers a built-in headphone jack, I see no point in replacing this with the Mini 6 (or 7 when it's released) because DJ'ing over Bluetooth introduces lag and I'm unwilling to purchase or carry around a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle just to use wired headphones.
  25. I don't use Spigot, but perhaps your startup parameters are invalid? Merely guessing based on the limited information provided. https://www.spigotmc.org/threads/exception-in-thread-main-cant-find-resource-for-bundle-java-util-propertyresourcebundle.154185/
