  1. I have a chance to get one of those 3 CPU : i5-12400 6-Core (6P) for 198$ CAD i5-12600K 10-Core (6P+4E) for 244$ CAD i5-14500 14-Core (6P+8E) for 339$ CAD NAS will run UNRAID, Windows VM, Plex Transcoding 4k (travel a lots). Current setup : Asus Pro WS w680-ace 64 GB DDR5 ECC My questions are : What CPU to get ? I'm thinking longevity and long term for my NAS. Will I go longer using a 14 gen (14 Core) CPU instead of a 12 gen (6-10 Core) CPU? 14 Gen more core don't mean would be better ? How is UNRAID deal with P and E core ? the K is not overkill for a NAS ? lol
  2. Yeah I know I'm use to it. I like the hybrid raid to add different size HD, and ease to add new one.
  3. Currently planing to build my own nas from an old synology to unraid. I already have an unraid licence that I purchase years ago. Just when on the unraid website and just notice that the licence cost is changing? My concern is the only 1 years update for a NAS???? ( Have to pay 36$ for update after that). This seem like a really bad idea for a NAS to not have security update????? What would happen with people with old licence no more update? When is the new Linus software that he invest coming out!
  4. I plan to possibly run a Windows 11 or a Linux distro to remote into easily are mote secure. So basicly not much diff between them realy, so just go for best deal lol
  5. So I purchase a Pro WS W680-ACE motherboard. My question, is there a real world difference between the 12,13 or 14 gen other then efficiency per core per Watt? Should I get a I7-12 gen on sale or get a I5 14 Gen? What are your suggestion? I plan to run UNRAID, plex server to encode/decode 4K on the fly (travel a lots for work) , run some VM. Thanks
  6. I found the issue but don't know how to fix it. Issue seem to be cause by the front panel motherboard power switch connector. Something seem to short and cause the power button to turn the computer on and off without me pushing the button.
  7. Hi So long story my computer is MSI MEG Aegis Ti5. Very custom gaming case by MSI with lots of rgb. Computer was purchase as one new and issue inky start 2 years after purchase. Spec: CPU: Intel Core i7-11700K 3.60 GHz Memory: 32 GB DDR4 Storage: 1 TB NVMe PCIe SSD + 2 TB HDD Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Full system info https://ca.msi.com/Desktop/MEG-Aegis-Ti5-11th/Specification Symptome: Start by iself, sometime when it try to restart, it turn off and on for like 10 sec. 10 sec on, then turn off. Then start again, 10 sec then off. Eventually will start and be in windows. Sometime even in windows, it will eventually turn off. Not crash, just turning all app off and turn computer off. What I try: Memory test multiple time(pass) Stress test both cpu and gpu (pass) Change the entire computer into a new case using a different power supply (no issues) (took a long time to do....) Put original power supply (no issues) Theory of problem: Would something from the case iself cause a short causing computer behavior? Can the rgb strip cause that? What cable I need to disconnect to try this theory? Any other idea what can cause this? This has been supper hard to diagnose and other then a ghost case causing issue, i dont know what causing this. ***** update, when I unplug the front panel motherboard power switch connector the issue seem to be resolved. How can I fix that issue?????***** Thanks
  8. Cleaning it seem to have fix it. Thanks
  9. Thanks will have a look on Monday. The case is tricky to work with but I think that ether bad motherboard or powersupply. But that cable could also be a possibility. Computer is pretty dusty so will try to also do a deep cleaning. Will come back for an update next week. Thanks
  10. Here a video of that my computer does. https://youtube.com/shorts/o-JFbjKJFZw?feature=share4 Basicly as soon as I plug the power cable after like 10 second the computer goes into a boot loop. I dont press the power button at all, just connect the power in the back and the computer start by itself. No usb plug or ethernet. I was able to go in windows after been unplug for a bit. Then once im boit maybe only after a few minute, windows start to shutdown without me doing anything.... it not a power cut, but windows just turn off. Then after it off, 10 seconds and start boot loop as per the video. It is a MSI MEG Aegis Ti5 11th. still a sign of bad motherboard? Power supply?
