  1. I had considered Manjaro but frankly the upkeep time of using Arch is too much for me to bear. Thanks for the recommendation! Doing some extra research into this, the vega 8 on the 2200G was released like 2 years ago at this point, so most mature OS branches have some support for it by now afaik. And in terms of the kernel, from like 4.18 onwards it seems that the AMD APUs are pretty stable and quick. Thanks for letting me know, it's settled down my overactive imagination ahahaha
  2. Hey guys, Just bought a small PC for use as an eSports rig. In order to save money (and because it's cool) I'm trying Linux this time around. I have experience USING Ubuntu but not so much installing or battling with drivers etc. Has anyone here got any experience with Navi 8 (or 11) and Linux? Would be much appreciated if you could give me any tips before the parts arrive in 2020
  3. Once in my life have I used the magnetic strip on my card, any guesses which country that was in? I've not used cash in 3 months. Contactless/Apple Pay (identical in my country, anywhere that supports contactless supports Apple Pay) every single day of my life. Visiting the US makes me feel like I've gone back in time. Using cash like a neanderthal...
  4. Do you hear that? It's the sound of 12 people converting to Apple music. Spotify has a terrible approach to security (showing all devices on the same network running spotify etc.) and this move doesn't surprise me at all. Most people don't give a shit though.
  5. Did as you suggested as well as turned up all settings to above maximum. Clocks wont go above 900 still, but FPS started much higher and didnt dip below 140. Overall a win but less than ideal
  6. Never goes above 900MHz specifically in League of Legends. This leads to FPS in the low 100's despite having a 144Hz monitor. No other game has this issue, from Minecraft to R6. It simply refuses to give me anything close to playable framerates. I'm gonna switch to AMD on my next build since I had similar issues on my 1070 a few years ago. GPUboost 3.0 is absolutely dreadful.
  7. Everything I said is under the assumption that the article in question is true. In fairness, with how journalism is today (fake news, circular sourcing etc.) it could very well be that the article is misleading. You're right and we should all be a little more careful how headlines influence our actions (and thinking)
  8. Funny that, but I distinctly remember Apple's entire shtick being about privacy... interesting that people would get annoyed more by someone who claims to do good lying to your face...
  9. This is the entire fucking reason I owned an iPhone. Now I have no reason to stay.
  10. The crux of the issue is that most people don't use adblock afaik. Every system I use I install adblock on (GF, parents computers, uni computers etc.) because using the internet without adblock is simply not feasible. These people don't know what they're missing out on, and they don't care. That being said, this will also affect add-ons such as Privacy Badger, giving even more reason for people to not use Chrome.
  11. Let's hope that the various forks just implement the APIs to be the same as the old one. Every time I've emulated someone else's API it's gone pretty well, although this may be a little bit more of a feat then what I was emulating lmao
  12. How does the 64 perform in VR? I've tried researching it but seemingly every VR user is on noVideo cards.
  13. This is mostly just me wanting to vent how excited I am to be building another PC (my first one was over three years ago wow) but I've finally got a setup I like going on: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor (£132.97 @ CCL Computers) CPU Cooler: be quiet! - Dark Rock 4 CPU Cooler (£53.79 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: ASRock - B450M Steel Legend Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (£79.64 @ CCL Computers) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (£73.95 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Western Digital - Blue 250 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (£39.95 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Seagate - BarraCuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£36.83 @ Amazon UK) Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB VENTUS XS OC Video Card (£259.96 @ Box Limited) Case: Fractal Design - Focus G Mini MicroATX Mini Tower Case (£47.38 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: be quiet! - Pure Power 11 CM 500 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply (£61.98 @ Amazon UK) Case Fan: Corsair - ML120 Pro 75 CFM 120 mm Fan (£16.49 @ Amazon UK) Total: £802.94 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-05-30 18:57 BST+0100 My rational is that I wanted a 2600 (may get 3600 depending on price in my region at launch) and a GTX 1070 equivilant (as that's what was in my first build and I know what performance to expect). I've got limited space (uni) so mATX was a must, and I wanted to spend a maximum of £60 on purely cosmetic upgrades. My colourscheme is just straight black (which is why I'm not set on that Asrock motherboard) with the white accent lights of the Focus G Mini being the only light in my system of note. It's for this reason that I picked a Dark Rock 4, but the stock cooler would've sufficed I suppose. This gives me OC headroom. The additional fan is for the upper exhaust vent (by the CPU) and the PSU just had to be any semi-modular+ black Gold+ 500W+ PSU, which I decided should be the one listed. Ultimately I want to be able to compile code quickly, play any game I want at 1080p144Hz (although I'm currently using a colour-calibrated 60Hz panel) and support a Rift S if I can afford one. If anyone has any ideas or things they'd change, or anything to point out, please tell me. Mostly I'm just excited to finally get some new hardware under my belt.
  14. But if your extension doesn't work with Chrome, then you don't have to make a choice ?
