yes, do you think its worth trying an older one?
-
Hi, I have a 1440p monitor, can play you tube but as soon as I try to play a game it crashes about 10 seconds into gameplay. The fans still work on it so I am unsure what the problem might be, I have an older card witch works ok (on very low settings). It isn't overheating, just crashing, have tried HDMI, Displayport and DVI, is it possible part of the card no longer works? It is 2 years old, but I have pushed it pretty hard playing on high settings for extended periods, just confused as it still works ok for everything else. Just want to know if the card is fried, or if I can save it? Thanks in advance.

Awesome, I would do an upgrade from my ex58, which is what I wanna do anyway, this would just save me time and money! ( going from an I7 920, I have not really been able to justify an upgrade to Z97 platform as I dont see any advantages from a gaming point of view, but 6 cores would be sweet).

I think people who are already into consoles would appreciate it, but there is just too much you can do with a PC to justify leaving the platform for something you can only use for gaming.

1 Million Subscribers - Thank you all! And a giveaway!
stefan32burke replied to nicklmg's topic in LTT Releases
I found LTT when PC gamer posted a you tube video on FB showing how to build a pc, I was blown away at how easy it looked, so I looked for more videos, found your $1500 dollar build guide and I have been subscribed ever since, and have been tinkering with my PC ever since. I would like to say thank you for getting me passionate about something I did not think I could do untill I saw your vidoes. I am now studying for a diploma in systems tech. L5 thanks to you guys!- 22,217 replies

Will R9 280X crossfire run 2560 x 1440
stefan32burke replied to stefan32burke's topic in Graphics Cards
Awesome thanks guys, works out way cheaper to run in crossfire, this is the answer I was hoping for! -
Hi I bought a R9 280X at the start of the year, and now I have found a good deal on a 2560 x 1440 monitor, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I can get playable framerates ( 40 - 60fps) if I buy another one and run in crossfire. Or would I need to sell it and get a 780 ti or 290X?
-
Yeah im just starting system technology L5, and they cover networking, so I really appreciate the opportunity to study and learn as much as I can now. Thanks SOUTHwarrior, I look forward to reading more of your posts.

yeah, I put in an Adata sp9000 128 gig ssd for my boot drive, and it is awesome, wish I had done it years ago, will there be much of an improvement for my ssd going from sata 2.0 to 3.0?
-
Thanks for that, main reason for upgrade was to get sata 3, I heard there is not much of a performance benefit from PCI-e 3.0? I am just wary about upgrading from x58 if I am not going to see an improvement on the cpu side as well, but 1150 socket looks better feature wise as well ( I was thinking of the z87x).

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help clear the air for me, the H80i is the biggest rad I could fit in my case, my 920 is o/c to 4.0 ghz. After 24 hrs the max temp was only 66 Celsius, I really want to upgrade to a modern cpu but I am finding it difficult to justify, I watched the comparison Linus did with the H80i vs H100i with a 2011 cpu o/c to 4.0 ghz, and the temp was 80+ Celsius with the H80i. If I upgrade I want to achieve a better o/c but I don't see how that's possible if the temps are so high. Can someone tell me why my 4 year old cpu is running 20 degrees cooler under load (about 20 C ambient), I would have thought a modern cpu would be more power efficient and therefore cooler? Would I be better off waiting for Broadwell to be released, bear in mind I only game, I o/c for the fun of it.
