  1. Ever since I installed Spark AR by Facebook my PC has been acting weird, explorer and programs would just crash all by themselves. And my taskbar would look like this, sometimes my screen would just go black and only the mouse pointer is visible, when this happens i cannot do anything but hard reset . I’ve tried reinstalling windows (clean install, wiped C drive) but it did not get rid of the problem, used malwarebytes to scan for malware, it did not pick up anything.

web browsers would just crash and restart themselves, discord would just refresh itself and vscode would just straight up crash.

Please help 😕 this is really getting in the way of my work.

Do you know if PBO is turned on or not on your system? It's the "easy/safe" overclock in that it relaxes some limits and the CPU may boost more, but I heard some mobos might enable it by default these days. Just thinking if it is not on already, to try it and see if it can give you a bit more perf, and what difference that might make.

how do i enable it? I have an Asrock B450 Pro4 R2.0 mobo.

NFS Unbound. I don't need to google but I'm sure the game use that shitty Denuvo DRM that hammer the CPU workcycle so it can peak the utilization of the middle core so it will look something like this ,,l,, to users that paid the game.

Spiderman is CPU and memory sensitive, so make sure your CPU and Memory perform as it should in synthetic benchmark.

I tried the game again just now and no matter what settings i choose it doesnt make any difference. Just now i got around 40% cpu usage and 40-50% gpu usage and 40fps. Isn't this really odd with my specs? the game doesnt even have ray tracing.

Spiderman is another game known to be CPU intensive in some situations.

To double check on the ram, since that can influence CPU performance, you are running it at 3200, and is it dual (2x8GB) or single channel (1x16GB)?

Normally you can go straight to the latest. If you need to do a multi-step update the webpage should tell you that. This might be the case if there are major changes to be done.

my RAM is in dual channel 2x8GB with XMP enabled. I tried the game again just now and no matter what settings i choose it doesnt make any difference. Just now i got around 40% cpu usage and 40-50% gpu usage and 40fps. Isn't this really odd with my specs? the game doesnt even have ray tracing.

Primarily given the GPU usage it doesn't sound like GPU limiting, so I'd still lean towards the CPU. With SMT, at 50% usage you're essentially using all the "real" cores and there's only a little headroom left provided from SMT. It may be this game prefers more single thread performance than multi-thread too. I do note the game recommended CPU is a 3600, but they don't say what their performance target it and it may be 30fps.

@Mark Kainemakes a good point. If a game is badly made, throwing hardware at it wont necessarily solve the problem. Are there other games similarly impacted or just that one?

so far this and marvel's spider-man are the only games i've noticed that would drop to the low 40s

???? wut? Even if it's a 60hz display, you won't normally lose framerate for no reason due to a monitor. This wouldn't fix the issue that you're talking about here.

It depends on your graphic settings. Just because you have a 3070, it doesn't mean you can run every games under the sun at the highest setting forever. Even if it's just "1080p".
This game came out last month. 2 years AFTER the 3070 came out. It's not surprising that it would be more demanding (though some of it could be optimization issue).

yeah that also made me really confused aha but to add - my GPU usage never goes above 60% and CPU usage is around 40-50% both cpu and gpu have temps under 70C

You need to get some real time monitoring up and see what CPU and GPU usage is like when that happens. The overlay that comes with GeForce Experience can do that, as can others. In short, if GPU is near 100% and CPU is lower, you're GPU limiting. Likewise if CPU is high and GPU is lower, you're CPU limiting.

I don't know that specific game but my gut feeling is the CPU is getting on a bit now. Try the above and see what is really happening before we can work out how to best resolve it.

in that particular game my gpu usage never goes above 60% and cpu usage is around 40-50%

  8. ok im really confused about this whole bottleneck stuff, someone please explain it to me. I have a Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 3070 and 16GB 3200mhz RAM but im struggling to get a stable 60fps in some games like need for speed unbound, when things get busy the fps would drop down to the low 40s. On average i get around 80-100fps in that game. what i don't understand is why is my build struggling so much at 1080p, with a card like a 3070 shouldn't it be no problem to get a stable 60fps at 1080p? Some people told me that its my monitor thats the bottle neck and some are saying that its the cpu. But why is the performance worse at lower resolutions? and should i get a 5800X3D and use the same 1080p 60hz monitor or get a 1080p 144hz monitor and stick with the 3600?

    Thanks.

Edit: In Need for Speed Unbound my GPU usage never goes above 60% and CPU usage is around 40-50% both cpu and gpu have temps under 70C

80c is a reasonable temp under gaming load with the stock cooler, so you'll either have to leave the panel off, re-orientate the fans if they aren't in an ideal configuration, or invest in a case with better air flow.  If you aren't seeing the CPU throttle down, which should happen around 95c, then you should be ok, just not a lot of wiggle room there.

alright, i guess ill have to upgrade to a better cpu cooler. Thank you for all the info 🙂

That case looks like it has poor air flow, which is probably why your temps are better with the side panel off. Are your exhaust fans on the top? Where do you have the intake fan, front or rear of case or both?

two intake on the front one exhaust on the back. Front is closed, doesn’t seem to make much of a difference when I leave it open so rn Its closed and then open the side panel. I don’t have fans on top.

  11. It idles at 43-45°C some spikes to 47°C

    When gaming:

    • Need for speed Heat: 77-80°C

    • Valorant: 50-62°C

GPU never goes above 65°C when gaming

I have one Cooler Master Mk120 S2 exhaust fan and two Arctic P12s as intake fans. Case is a Deepcool macube 110. With glass panel on cpu temps reach 90°C. Without the glass panel I get the temps mentioned above. I’ve tried with the front panel removed as well and got around the same results mentioned above.

Is this normal for a 3600 with stock cooler?

    Specs:

    • Cpu - Ryzen 5 3600

    • GPU - Zotac RTX 3070 twin edge

    • RAM - Hyper X fury 8GB

    • Mobo - Asrock b450 Pro r2

    • PSU - Corsair CX650

Is this normal for a 3600 with stock cooler? or are these really bad temps and should I get an aio or a better air cooler?

edit: cpu temps while playing Valorant are 53-66°C

Almost sounds like malware. No logical reason the shift key wouldn't work with only that one key. Does this happen with other keyboards on the same machine? Does this keyboard behave the same on other machines?

    Some possible explanations:

Malware that has removed the @ symbol from your computer's ASCII alphabet.

Malware that is coded to modify Shift key behavior for just that one key (highly unlikely, but possible) or perhaps force a backspace when it is used, which would give the impression it isn't working.

You have inadvertently set your Windows to use a language / keyboard layout similar to yours that does not use the @ symbol.

(Here's a video on how to fix this)

Keyboard's internals are mildly damaged to where pressure on those two keys is interrupting the data / power stream.

Update: if i tap the left shift key and then press 2 very quickly it works, i get the @ symbol but if I press and  hold the left shift key and press 2 it doesn't work.

hmm, ill try to scan for malware. Can't test an external keyboard cause im out of town rn 😕

  14. Please help! my laptop acer nitro 5 keeps booting straight to bios if i turn it on after a shut down, before this it would go straight to bios even after a restart. i updated the bios and it fixed it for a few days but then it started happening again but now it only happens after a shut down.
  15. I don’t know where else to ask, no one is replying. Hope it’s okay to ask here. This happened today, never had the problem before. I was playing sekiro shadows die twice , i minimized it and so the console was on the home screen and then I went to get something to eat. When I came back I saw the screen flickering and when I navigate through the menu to reboot the console , the sound was distorted. After rebooting everything was fine. What could’ve caused it? Should I be worried?
