  1. Firstly thanks for the help! A couple questions though. How much better is the psu because that one is both non-modular and a lower wattage. Also the case she would like to keep it small without sacrificing too much upgradabilty, so is there any similarly priced but smaller ones you would suggest?
  2. Budget (including currency): Around $500-600 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly school work and very light gaming for now such as osu, danganronpa, and undertale Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): She's used a chromebook for a while and wants to upgrade to a windows 10 computer, so we've looked around for a while and come up with this parts list. She would have liked to buy a gpu but since they are all out of stock we decided it'd be best just to use integrated graphics for now and upgrade when she wants to, as the programs she wants to use aren't that demanding. She already has a 1080p 60hz monitor but no mouse and keyboard, which she hasn't decided on yet. We have a microcenter nearby which is why most of the parts are from there and it's not a pcpartpicker. Also wifi is needed but windows 10 key isn't . Thanks for any advice! 3. Don't let people tell you if you need to upgrade, determine that yourself. Firstly are you not getting desired performance, and if not, check task manager while playing and is your gpu not at 100% and your cpu is? I don't personally believe you'll see a massive difference, especially for how much you'll be paying because you'll only be upgrading from 1 or 2 generations of cpu but that's up to you. If you do find that you want to upgrade I'd wait for prices to come down or a 5600 to come out as well.
  4. Best bet is to just wait until reviews are out, but why not consider a macbook air if she's only doing basic things on it?
  5. I doubt they'd really mind, should be just fine for light web tasks which most people do anyway. No reason to let it waste if you can find someone that would want it.
  6. I've been using an HP 22cwa 1080p 60 hz montior for the past few years and it's been working well, just it's a bit small and limiting for some games. I'm going to be using this monitor for a project and want to get a decent upgrade to replace it. You can see my specs on my profile (Basically Ryzen 3 2200G RX 580) and I'm not sure when I'll upgrade but I play games spanning a wide range of demandingness for the hardware along with basic school work. While for newer titles it'll definitely struggle on anything above my current monitor spec I'm not sure if it'll be worth getting a higher resolution/framerate for the desktop and lighter games. Also I want a monitor that I won't be compelled to upgrade and not bottleneck my hardware if I want to upgrade those in the future. What type of monitor would you suggest and which ones specifically and how much of an upgrade will I feel? (I'm good with 1080p 60 I just don't know how much better it can feel) I don't quite have a budget I'm more so looking for bang for buck. Thanks for the help!
  7. A lot of this just seems so unnecessary for a mid-range build. A lot of the things you seemingly added for an upgrade path can easily be upgraded itself and is crazy overkill. Just some examples, I'm pretty sure for just gaming there's no reason that you'd ever need to upgrade from a 3600 on the same platform for however long AMD still supports AM4. This means you really don't need a higher end motherboard. Ram you do not need more than 16gb. I'm still running 8gb on a mid range build and even though its like $30 for another kit (1/3 what i paid for lol) I just have never reasonably run out of ram. Also you don't need the "amd optimized" ram running at 3600mhz any 3000 kit will do. You can also upgrade it whenever so don't worry about the future You will in no way notice in any common scenario the difference between your already good amount of ssd the extremely fast ssd you have. The cooling is up to you if you want to overclock but you could get away with a cheaper fan Sorry if I ended up sounding cross but I just want to get my point across. You should really try to save that money for a nice monitor as that's something you have to completely replace when you want a new one. That goes along with a better gpu when you want.

Getting a 2700 is an easy saving of $50 for barely a performance delta and overclocking ability. Ram is so cheep these days I squeezed in 32 but if you feel you only need 16 that's fine, and you can always upgrade. Make sure you have enough storage because 240 is almost nothing. The 580 is a good choice but they're defiantly some cheaper options.
  9. The 2700X won't bottleneck your GPU, but the 3700X is a better investment. Also what are your doing on your computer and what do you run your games at? A lot of the other parts suggest you do some heavier workload type things. Also just in general the extra cooler you added on is not much better than the stock one that comes with both those CPUs

  11. Do you need peripherals? (monitor, keyboard mouse, etc) and what games do you play? Edit: Also do you need Wifi?
  12. I have a friend who has a crappy 2011 macbook air and wants to upgrade. He is on a pretty strict budget with the max being $600, preferably lower with a monitor and peripherals needed as well included. We've been looking at getting an optiplex from ebay and upgrading the graphics card and whatnot but don't know where to start or what to look for. He will mainly be doing some lighter gaming (mostly ksp and waiting for ksp 2) as well as some 3D modeling and school work. Thanks for any help!
  13. The LCD is dying on it to the point of no repair, along with the other signs of age its feeling. I want the more customizability and openess of android, and it seemed like I could get a much better value getting a less than one year old android instead of a 3 year old iphone in that price point. I'm still fine with going with IOS but I feel androids more for me
