So for those that have been following/reading some of my challenges, I've successfully installed a real GFX card (nVidia GTX 550 Ti) into my Dell PowerEdge 2900 Model III. Ran it under load over the weekend and all was well. So that part worked great.
The twin CPUs are Xeon e5430 with 48GB FBDIMM (and a whole host of other toys inside)
I'd like to put a newer/better/faster card in the system now, but which one? It must only be powered by a single 6 pin connector (all I have connections for so that's the prime constraint)
Obviously I could just go for the latest, but I feel the Xeons would be holding it back, so what's a good match for them where I'm not wasting the GFX card's potential?
