Alrighty so I figured I'd post this here to see if there were anything better I could do with what I have.
Here's my current build:
Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3
FX-8300 (Stock)
8GB G.Skill RAM (Low for most of what I do, I downgraded from 16 as I hadn't really needed it. Trust me this is covered in this future build.)
ASUS GTX 1050Ti ROG STRIX OC 4GB (Preclocked, and can hold a stable OC of 9-13%, once had it get near 21% but crashed.)
--Current RX 580 Armor OC 4GB (Underclocked by 7% due to running it on a 6 pin and not 8 pin because I don't trust this motherboard enough haha.)
Rosewill Stallion 500M
This PC has pretty much ran everything I've wanted it to with relative ease (Disregarding current ram amount) however, the FX 8300's single core performance is pretty much trash so quite a bit of games flop >>HARD<<.
A core example of this is the insane amount of stuttering I get in CSGO, so I've decided to pretty much base the new build off of that.
Now call me crazy, but this is my current idea of a new build with a price range of 475-500$.
Intel - S5520HC SSI EEB
2 x Intel - Xeon X5660 2.8GHz
32GB (2x16 1066 Memory)
EVGA GQ 650W
When you factor in a new case (Server chasis), heatsinks, and other variables it comes upto around 465$.
Could there be anything better is my only question basing this off of SC performance, MC performance, server capabilities (I'm a linux guy, I'll gladly eat up half of this system with VMs in the background.) based on what I'd likely be doing?
I know it's not the greatest idea, but it has been praised for doing fairly well on most games given the SC performance.
Based on many threads of the same question I know that the CPUs are clockable, my only question is what I could get away with using Thermaltake - Contac Silent 12 74.3 CFM as a cooler.
Few threads stated that they managed 4GHz+ using air, I don't think I'd really push it that far without some extensive testing knowing how used products eventually end up, then again the things are extremely cheap so I'd just be able to replace them anyway.
My main reasoning to all this is how cheap it is, and it beats what I currently have without taking any losses.
What are your thoughts, suggestions, or ideas?
This is just what I've found that's within my price range that would not only improve my gaming, but also unlock new things for me to mess around with. I spend my time messing around with distros and learning how things operate, so I feel this would be a great decision in that regard.
Any info is appreciated.
