  1. Falco5150 I downloaded crystaldiskinfo and its reporting my 970 evo 250gb, 860 evo 500gb, and seagate nytro 512gb all "good" status with no warnings or irregularities. when i booted my PC tonight (im typing this reply on my desktop through firefox) i encountered zero issues. im really confused by what occurred. i wouldnt be concerned if it was one of those things where a simple restart fixed a situation where windows was being weird but it took me several cold boots and the attempt at system recovery to get back into my OS. anyone other ideas?
  2. Update, i pressed F8 at startup to go through recovery options in windows and tried a system restore to the 15th of this month and the restore failed for some reason. I had no other option but to select 'OK' and my PC booted to my login screen where I input my password and im now into windows, my mouse cursor is working, and im writing this message from my working OS in firefox. Could this be the culprit of a failing drive or something of the like? As i stated above i appreciate any assistance from individuals familiar with these issues. Thanks!
  3. Hello all, I’m having issues booting into windows. My PC (i7 8700k, Z370 MSI Gaming M5, Samsung 870 EVO 250 <- boot drive and 500gb NVMe SSDs, 512gb seagate nytro, evga hybrid 1080ti, current drivers and windows update as of last night when I last used my PC) will start up and go to the MSI brand loading screen (like it always does) and then get stuck and display no signal. Also, I’m not sure if this is related, but this issue began after I successfully booted into windows when I first turned my PC on tonight and restarted it after my mouse cursor wasn’t moving with the actuation of my mouse movements. Any suggestions or troubleshooting advice is appreciated.
  4. The cpu cooler orientation is upside down because I like the way the tubes are run that way. And I don’t mind the NZXT being flipped; actually think it’s kinda cool. Yea... need to fix my GPU sag. Anyone have any idea on products? I don’t want crazy rgb brackets or unicorn dicks... I was hoping for a metal, low profile stand I can use to support the power cable end of the GPU. It’s actually not as bad as it looks on the pictures lol but it’s definitely something I want to fix.
  5. Thank you so much! And I’ll definitely give that a try!
  6. Hey everyone, thanks for checking out my build project. Parts and pictures listed below. I’d also be happy to answer any questions anyone may have. This build was a ton of fun and sitting in my chair at my desk is literally like plugging into my own personal command center. Thanks again for looking! Parts List: [PC] Case - NZXT H700i CPU - Intel i7 8700k CPU Cooling - NZXT Kraken X72 AIO Motherboard - MSI Pro Gaming M5 Memory - 32GB (4x8 kit) Corsair Vengeance RGB 3000mhz GPU - EVGA FTW3 Hybrid 1080ti (liquid cooled) Airflow - 3x NZXT 120mm (SP series for 360mm radiator) fans, 2 x NZXT 120mm (AF) fans, 1x NZXT 140mm AerF fan (exhaust), 1x EVGA 120mm (SP series for 120mm GPU radiator) Storage - 1x 250GB Samsung 860 EVO NVMe M.2 SSD (with EK Heatsink), 1x 500GB Samsung 860 EVO NVMe M.2 SSD (with EK Heatsink), 1x 512GB Seagate Nytro 2.5in SSD [Monitors] 2x Viotek 32in Widescreen (curved) 1440p at 144hz, 2ms response time and Freesync enabled (with the new Nvidia driver release these are now GSync enabled) [Peripherals] Corsair Rapidfire RGB Aluminum Series Keyboard (Cherry MX Speed) Corsair Scimitar MMO Mouse Corsair Extended Mouse Mat Corsair Void Pro Wireless Headset Corsair RGB Headset Stand [Desk and Chair] La-Z-Boy Big & Tall series Executive Chair (I’m 6’4, 310 and this chair is super sturdy and comfortable) Officemax Genuine Wood Writing Desk Notes: My Viotek monitors are technically VESA compatible but the mounting holes don’t support VESA mounts. There’s a proprietary metal fixture on the back of these monitors that you use to install your traditional monitor stand and I found a seller on Etsy.com that custom makes adapters for these and other Viotek monitors (and I think a few other brands that are similar as well) and after getting the adapters I was able to affix them to VESA arms which I mounted to the wall and installed the monitors in a vertical orientation. I did so because of horizontal space constraints and wasn’t sure if I was going to like it but I absolutely love it. The wall mounts give the monitors a ‘floating’ effect; very cool! On a balanced fan profile, my system is practically inaudible even while sitting adjacent to it (and without my headset on). Idle/Web and OS browsing temperatures for my 8700k sit between approx. 24 and 42 degrees centigrade. Idle/Web and OS browsing temperatures for my 1080ti sit between approx. 25 and 32 degrees centigrade (these are according to Corsair LINK). The highest I’ve ever seen my 8700k during a stress test (Unigen Heaven for 4 hours) was 62 degrees centigrade average across the 6 cores and my 1080ti maxed out at 60 degrees. When gaming I usually never see my CPU or GPU go above 57 degrees. I’m literally amazed at the performance of the Kraken X72 and my FTW3 hybrid. Granted, I keep my apartment pretty cool and the AC is set to 74 and blows cold, but even when I try stressing out my components they just don’t heat up. Again, I’m happy to answer any questions anyone might have. Feel free to comment or roast me if you don’t like my setup lol. Thanks again for looking!
  7. What about the fact that I was back at default and set my Enhanced CPU Turbo mode (that would have OC'ed me to 4.7) and still wouldnt boot? Does that mean I'm for sure looking at a hardware problem? Any thoughts on what it might be? Ugh. My heart cant handle this.
  8. Hello everyone, First off, system specs: Intel i7 8700k (NZKT Kraken X72 AIO) 32gbs Corsair Vengeance RGB at 3000mhz MSI Gaming M5 Z370 EVGA Hybrid 1080ti and its in an NZHT H700i case if that matters any... I built this computer by myself and was incredibly proud of it, and the goal was to build a machine that was powerful enough to not require overclocking as to extend the life of my PC and its respective components but everything that ive read solidifies that overclocking in a safe manner is free performance that results in practically no hardware degradation. Im (obviously) not very adept at this stuff, so my first poke around the BIOS I noticed that my RAM was running at 2133mhz. I set the clock of the RAM to 3000 and rebooted and it worked fine, but after I went back into the BIOS I set the RAM clock back to auto and enabled XMP, which set the RAM clock back to 3000mhz and which I figured would be better if the system needed to adjust voltage it could do it automatically or under the settings XMP had outlined. In the MSI BIOS my 8700k is listed as running at 3.7ghz. I'm literally terrified of frying my very expensive computer which was a massive achievement for me to create, so I looked online for exact overclocking settings for my CPU (8700k) and motherboard (MSI Gaming M5). I found this link on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/78g4qh/msi_z370_8700k_overclocking_tips/ and manually input all the settings exactly (I checked them over several times before saving the profile) to attempt and achieve a 4.8ghz overclock on all cores. Upon saving the profile, my system shut off immediately (in a way it would as if there were a power outage or something) and cycled a few times before I received a black screen on one of my monitors stating that the overclock failed and that default settings were restored. After the previous few moments of sh#@ing my pants, I was just happy that it appeared no damage was done and I was able to restore my previous profile that only had XMP enabled and nothing else. After watching some Youtube videos and reading some tutorials and what not, I found a video on TechDeals channel where he had a build almost identical to mine and showed stepped by step instructions for a safe overclock of the 8700k. After the 28 minute long video, the advice I took away was to enable the "Enhanced CPU Turbo" auto mode which turbos the CPU to 4.7 which I would be perfectly happy with. I saved the profile and the system rebooted. After it flashed the BIOS screen during startup, both my monitors went black as they lost signal and although my computer was still on, there was no still no signal. After hard resetting my machine, it wouldn't even let me get into the BIOS. After two more tries with no video signal after the BIOS screen/image, I cleared my CMOS and restarted my machine. I was able to restore my BIOS to default and get back into Windows, where all my previous web browsing tabs and window arrangements/startup applications were just as normal. Sorry for the long winded explanation, but does anyone know what the problem might be here? The ONLY weird thing I noticed as I was staring blankly into my tempered glass window wondering why my PC was smiting me was that one of the CPU power cables to the motherboard appeared every so slightly tugged away/not flush with the PCB on the motherboard. I pushed on it and I honestly dont know if it was placebo that both connectors feel flush now but yea. I haven't retried any sort of overclock or any change to my BIOS whatsoever at this point. Any troubleshooting ideas to get my CPU to a reasonable overclock since it has AMPLE cooling and would be wasted performance would be great. I really appreciate you guys reading this incredibly long post and thank you in advance for your assistance.
  9. Thanks for the response hardy. Also screw you for having two such BADAZZ systems at your disposal. I'm uber jealous lol. I bet they're beautiful rigs as well
  10. Hey guys I'm building my first system; it's panning out to look like a high end gaming/workstation rig. My parts list is as follows: Case- NZXT H700i (includes 3 120mm intake fans and 1 140mm exhaust, 2 LED strips, and integrated smart controller for fans and lighting) Motherboard- Gigabyte AORUS Z370 Gaming 5 LGA 1151 WiFi Processor- Intel core i7 8700k Processor cooling solution- NZXT Kraken X72 Memory- 32gb (4x8gb sticks) G Skill Trident RGB 3000mhz Storage- Samsung 960 EVO NVMe series 250gb M.2 SSD, Seagate Nytro 512gb SATA SSD Video Card- EVGA FTW3 GTX 1080ti Hybrid water cooled GPU Power Supply- EVGA SuperNova G3 750w 80 Plus Gold My question is that I have a local guy here in Phoenix, AZ who will delid a processor and apply Cool Laboratory Liquid Pro liquid metal for 65 bucks. I've asked some people who have gotten it done and the guy seems legit. Do you think it's 1. Worth it to get it done, and 2. Will if be beneficial to my rig considering the parts you see listed above? Thanks for the time you may take to reply!
  11. So bedroom a no... does anyone have a rig cornered in their living room and they and their guests can tolerate it's existence?
  12. New to coin mining and starting to acquire RX580 8gb cards for a new mining rig (shooting for 8 cards in total). What coin would you guys recommend for a setup based on this gpu optimization and based on the gpus alone what guess-estimate would you think I could achieve in regards to hash rate? also, I'm planning on keeping this particular rig in my bedroom. Is that a terrible idea as far as noise goes? In your experience is it tolerable whatsoever or is it going to have to be placed somewhere else?
  13. If you're willing to spend just a tad bit more, I've seen used RX580 8gb cards all over Facebook marketplace and Craigslist in my area (tempe, AZ) for as low as 125-175 bucks which is an awesome price point for the amount of GPU you're getting. I expanded my search area in both applications to see if the pricing was congruent and it seems to be. So maybe check those two options in your neck of the woods and cross your fingers on finding one and at a good price!
  14. I have another question. I compiled this collection of hardware to be fast enough where I wouldn't need any sort of overclock to have a fast and responsive rig. That being said, are there any safe and STABLE overclock profiles that anyone would recommend for this type of setup? Thanks again everyone.
  15. Brob (or anyone else that can explain for me), please excuse my newbness but can you elaborate/expand upon why you would put the X72 radiator in front as opposed to the top of the case and leaving the stock triple 120 fan configuration alone as intake fans? And wouldn't all the hot exhaust air from the system heat up the GPU radiator if it is mounted over an exhaust fan? Am I being retarded? Like I said this is my first build and airflow is definitely not something I'm very well versed in at all. In response to street gurus comment I did a lot of research, including the Gamers Nexus review that had been posted and airflow even with the stock front panel on is in the top 25% of most reviewers cases that they have tested... is there some odd quirk with the H700i that causes airflow issues that end users run into that testers didn't experience? Thanks again for all the replies!
