  1. On Metro:Last Light On my rig of: 4770K @4.5ghz with R9 280x @1050mhz core and 1500mhz Before: Using 15.5 Total Frames: 8889, Total Time: 171.2141 sec Average Framerate: 51.95 Max. Framerate: 98.00 (Frame: 7160) Min. Framerate: 8.32 (Frame: 1546) Total Frames: 8899, Total Time: 171.294 sec Average Framerate: 51.99 Max. Framerate: 98.46 (Frame: 7155) Min. Framerate: 13.64 (Frame: 2532) Total Frames: 8877, Total Time: 171.2918 sec Average Framerate: 51.86 Max. Framerate: 113.96 (Frame: 7512) Min. Framerate: 14.36 (Frame: 1906) After using 15.15 Total Frames: 8726, Total Time: 171.2245 sec Average Framerate: 51.00 Max. Framerate: 96.98 (Frame: 7032) Min. Framerate: 11.96 (Frame: 1457) Total Frames: 8740, Total Time: 171.2889 sec Average Framerate: 51.06 Max. Framerate: 97.86 (Frame: 7026) Min. Framerate: 8.93 (Frame: 5509) Total Frames: 8680, Total Time: 171.284 sec Average Framerate: 50.71 Max. Framerate: 97.41 (Frame: 6997) Min. Framerate: 11.20 (Frame: 6214) The change from 15.5->15.15 has reduced the amount of dips and its consistency. The min FPS and and average remain unchanged but how often it dips has been reduced. I will be testing other games too to see if this change is occurring in other games. Credit to asder00 from guru3d for providing the modded driver. 2. One thing that can affect the boost frequency is the power options in windows. To save on energy, the core may not boost as high and often if the setting is set to powersaver. Another thing would be that the 3.9ghz should only be the boost frequency for a single core. If more than one core turbos then the core would be less eg. 2 cores boost @ 3.8 and 4 being @ 3.7. These values may not be correct but the principle behind it remains.
  3. Are you kidding me? Best be hoping this is a mistake or it will be another "feature" that was not expressed directly.
  4. Voltage drop is most likely due to BOOST 2.0. Boost balances thermal, clock, voltage yatti yatti yadda. Best work around to the throttling is to use a custom bios for maxwell to allow for higher voltage and power limits..
  5. I don't so I can not answer that question for you.
  6. I went with two A14's in the front, two F12 on the bottom, two A14's at top and one P14 at the rear. The side fan is a waste and yielded no benefit for me. In your case i would go with two A14's in the front and an A14 at the back.
  7. Gotta learn at some point. Also there are video there to help OP learn. In the US/CA MSI allows removal of the cooler to apply TIM without voiding warranty as long as you don't kill the card. The potential to gain thermal headroom is there if OP is willing to try.
  8. Because the temperatures are quite high for that cooler. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_radeon_r9_280x_twinfrozr_gaming_oc_review,9.html T=68C http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/10/28/msi_r9_280x_gaming_video_card_review/10#.VVwgYEbF91A T=74C The temps OP has are unusual for the cooler. I myself get 65C while playing BF4. Granted I do have CLU on the die to keep it that cool while the fan hovers around 35% speed to keep it nice and quiet.
  9. Then you are left with the last two options. Undervolt or replace TIM. You can use Linus's guide on replace TIM, however avoid using ICD on bare dies as it can scratch the die. You can look up guides to undervolting as there are plenty out there due to the mining craze.
  10. Open your side panel and then report back. If the temperature decreases it is due to lack of airflow in your case. If no change then you have several options. You can lower the voltage on the core. This will mean less energy is used and thus less energy that needs to be dissipated. Another way is to increase the fan speed VIA programs like MSI afterburner. Last method would be where you replace the TIM on the die as it may have hardened and thus performing poorly.
  11. http://www.ncix.com/detail/raijintek-triton-all-in-one-cpu-liquid-94-100817-1334.htm Lowest price it has ever been according to pcpartpicker:http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/raijintek-cpu-cooler-0r100018
  12. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/carrizo-coming-soon,29055.html According to Tomshardware we can be expecting Carrizo CPU's. "When Carrizo's predecessor Kaveri launched last year, it was disappointing to AMD enthusiasts that the higher performance FX CPU line did not receive any new CPUs. Carrizo will fix that when it comes out, launching in both the FX CPU and the APU product lines." "Carrizo will use the current AMD AM3+ CPU socket so that a new motherboard won't be needed. Hopefully, the performance increases and greater power efficiency that typically comes with new CPU cores will be enough to attract new customers and get people to upgrade from the older AMD FX CPUs that launched three years ago."
  13. I recommend you read the following:http://www.overclock.net/t/719397/on-ripple-and-its-effects-on-overclocking Your PSU may be affecting your OCing. I don't actually know as I know nothing of the 500B.
  14. If it occurs in a specific game it may be just the game itself. CS GO isn't that intensive even when cranked up to the highest settings. You may be here for answer but capitalizing random words hurts reader access. That is completely different from what a grammar nazi would criticize on.
  15. Artifacting occurs when the GPU either is running at a frequency where it is not stable or it is lacking voltage. Also insufficient voltage supplied by the PSU can cause artifacting. Avoid randomly capitalising letters in the middle of your sentences. It makes it really annoying to read.
  16. You guys realise I said "4K like quality" not 4k monitor RIGHT? At no point did I suggest it would make the monitor 4K,
  17. If you take a 1080p 144hz panel and downsample from 4K does the monitor still go up to 144hz refresh rate? I mean if it does still go up to 144hz it makes pretty good logic to go for a FreeSync or G-SYNC monitor and simply downsample a 4K image to get "4k like quality" while retaining the 144hz smoothness. It would be great for games that are not demanding like CS GO or L4D2.
  18. I believe the reason they do not have it for the H440 and S340 is because they come with filters out of the box. Making filters specifically for them would be stupid.
  19. Grab one of these two: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ssr550rm http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550bbefx Both are Seasonic products with XFX using them as OEM. If you do the rebate you are able to get the XFX psu at around 62$ after MIR.
  20. You guys realise there is a campus less than 5 minutes away from there.
  21. I say no. If another key incident were to occur it could negatively affect LMG reputation. As always trust takes a long time to build and can be lost in seconds. I do not think they are worth the risk.
  22. Thermalright TY14X are as good as the stock A15's.
  23. http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00650P2ZC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 They charge 16$ for every fan and have a min of 6$ shipping. However when I ordered it ( two of them alongside with a two A14's) there was a promotion where shipping was free. Ended up costing 85$ for two F12's and two A14's after tax. From the looks of it the promotional is free shipping when the order from "Memory House" is over 50$ before tax. Here's an item to get you over 50$ if you are buying two or more: http://www.amazon.ca/StarTech-com-SATA18-18-Inch-Serial-Cable/dp/B0000ALXPJ/ref=sr_1_79?m=A1HU0UETW2PFPN&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1424494034&sr=1-79 Ships from Richmond,BC.
