  1. In an interview for Time, TSMC Chairman Mark Liu, suggested that the global chip shortage is now being exacerbated by dealers stockpiling chips “who-knows-where in the supply chain”. Quotes My thoughts This again is bad news for anyone who wants or needs to get their hands on any new (or by trickle down, used) piece of technology, name it video card, car or any in between. And this extra variable of why the shortage exists is even harder to solve because it deepens speculative behavior. In other markets commodities have laws intended to stop speculative hoarding and other similar behavior. Lets see if regulations need to be taken to try to stop or disincentivize this practice. 2. I agree that thunderbolt might not very useful for a Desktop PC. But in my case I use a Laptop, so it makes more sense there. And with how good Laptops GPUs are getting, just docking them with Thunderbolt in large monitors should become more mainstream.
  3. Well, I code for a living, so personally I would choose 1440p just for the extra detailed text. I use glasses, so with my current 1080p screens characters don’t look very crisp and I get eye strain.
  4. Hi everybody! I am searching for a new monitor. And I love super ultrawide monitors (is that the real category name?). Any way, I like how thunderbolt allows to have everything connected with a single cable and all the all chaining involved. So my priority is to have a clean setup. I currently work with 3 displays and replacing them with a single 32:9 is “the dream”. I game casually, but do not expect high fps (but who can say no to a 120hz or higher display?). But my main use is work. I do a lot of coding, so a 1440p is my minimum for very crisp text. Does anybody know if this unicorn screen exists? I love how the Odyssey G9 looks, but it is not thunderbolt . I already know that there are many 21:9 thunderbolts out there, but I am discarding them. (I really want and need that extra screen real state ) also, I wish to future proof as most as possible. So, the better the screen... Thanks everyone!
  5. I know this is an old thread, but In other forums they recommend staying in YCbCr. Why is that? Is there some drawbacks or considerations to have?
  6. Core i5+, i7+, i9+?? Is it worth it? Who is it target to? And why does it matter.
  7. This is a more kind of why "there is not (yet)" type of question. Why there is not a high end video card with USB Type-C (thunderbolt) video output? For example, what if I want a pro-sumer rig, with 3 screens, but don't want all the 6 cables (3 power, 3 video) that come with it. Mabie, only 1 usb type C chaining the 3 screens directly to the video Card, or maybe, just 3 direct cables from the card. Could the architecture support it?
  8. No iOS device uses thunderbolt so I guess... Maybe it wont support it? Apple is clearly making an in house ARM soc.
  9. ... ands peaking of bad divorces, Tunnelbe... ehem... Apple and Intel! (allegedly, by 2020) "Intel days are coming to an end!!!" Or why is and why is not the end of PC's and x86 processors. And if there is some risk of Qualcomm to hijack Windows Linux market from Intel.
  10. Short answer, 2 completely different coding languages for very different types of applications. (Almost front end vs backend for example)
  11. YouTube vs Netflix (streaming technology, dynamic quality, encodings, cdn, etc.)
