  1. https://chipsandcheese.com/2023/02/19/amds-rdna-2-shooting-for-the-top/ Linking this really in-depth article on RDNA2. I tried following it, parts of it go over my head, but seems like a great thing that enthusiasts might want to read
  2. Oh hey the keyboard I got a literal few days ago(the big one with the numpad). I'm loving it. Pricy but now that I've used it a few days I couldn't go back. Really loving it.
  3. Well in the mean time I found the options inside irfanview to have irfanview do it for me. Strange that this would happen. For the moment Windows Update is saying it has no more updates for me... I'll keep an eye on things, but for now I've found a workaround... Still strange. Thanks for everyone who replied, for wanting to engage and put in effort.
  4. Tested again, there's no space before or after. Also, the very article you link has this screenshot, showing the same amount of distance: Moving on, the article also describes this option: But I'm getting this: The button is just not there (file path wiped for privacy). Meanwhile I've discovered that for certain video files I can change the default. Just not file like gif, jpg and png and the like... No such thing happened. Windows tweakers stopped being useful after Win Vista, in my opinion. Had a quick check " Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer." not sure what I should be looking for. I'd also mention: this is an HP laptop. Maybe this is a preconfig from HP?
  5. There's no option to make it permanent. Meanwhile on my old Win10 there is. And I'm seeing online that other people do have the option. So what's going on here. All these menus, I can find them just fine. The problem is: where is the option to make the change permanent? Installing Irfanview has an option to change a bunch of default image associations, to set Irfanview as the default. After reboot, those got reset. What's going on? Why can't I permanently change the default app for a file type?
  6. Nope Or any other. jpg, png, gif, bmp... With or without the dot, nothing comes up. So `.png` and `png` both give nothing.
  7. Screenshot: This is on a recent laptop, came with Win11 pre-installed. I would expect there to be a checkbox that says "Always use this app" and that changes the default app for the file type. For instance, like this: SEO seems to have messed things up, googling for this only gets me links about getting back Windows' default apps if they are gone. Anyone know of this behavior and how to restore the old behavior?
  8. Summary Desktop GPU sales hit 20 year low, shipped 42 percent fewer than last year. Quotes My thoughts Linking this to the increased prices... this feels really bad. It makes it feel as if the price increase was done not just because of cost, but they noticed they'd get less sales and so they upped the price in order to get more income, rather than just accept the reality of the market situation. We've been hearing for months now that prices are high because of crypto miners. So, supply and demand, demand goes up while supply stays same -> prices go up. But now it becomes public that the amount of units purchases has fallen. Which means less of the supply has been bought up. Which means demand wasn't actually as high as we were made to believe. And thus, the justification of the high prices was bullshit all along. Companies selling less make less profits. If demand drops, units sold drop, and amount of income for the company drops. It sounds to me like they artificially claimed that demand was high, as to justify raising prices and thus keep their expected income somewhat stable, in face of the lowering demand. Is that incorrect? Sources https://www.tomshardware.com/news/sales-of-desktop-graphics-cards-hit-20-year-low
  9. Yeah, people are starting to compile all the time he used his position of power to try and get anything negative about him or his products removed from the internet:
  10. Would be an interesting statistic to see how many of your cables, in that cleanup, end up being bad, rather than good. A little? More than expected? WAY MORE than expected?
  11. Wow. It's kind of wild that it sounds like nobody has made something for this specific use case that involves no commandline and no registry editing. Like, just a screen that pops up when you log on that says "Today, do x, y and z" and that you can easily configure in a GUI, no commandline, no registry editing or anything like that.
  12. I've been googling this a bit and reminder-apps a plenty, and registry hacks to put legal noticed on the logon screen, or setting up task reminders that required writing batch scripts, but that's not what I need. Nothing I've found works on the principle: "Display a specific message to the user that just logged in, the moment they logged in". A simple program, enter your message, save, and it gets displayed after you log in. Does something like that exist?
  13. So, suppose I have this as a PDF https://www.amazon.com/UNIX-Linux-System-Administration-Handbook/dp/0134277554 How would that work? Would I need to get is at epub? Or something else? Because I do genuinely want it to also be a tablet I can do regular Android stuff on as well.
  14. I'm looking for a good reading experience, while not getting a dedicated reading tablet.... I don't even know what those are called. Basically I want to have a bigger screen than my regular smartphone to read books, and have the best screen for that. On Android. I'm kinda trying to avoid this being purchase advice, but if anyone knows a good device, feel free to share. But really I'm just asking for the best kind of screen for reading.
