    ORANGE DRAGON

Project: ORANGE DRAGON - Fractal Design Core 1000 mod First mod - A mini itx, black and orange, dragon themed build. Build log: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/100812-complete-project-orange-dragon-fractal-design-core-1000-mod/?hl=%2Borange+%2Bdragon SPECS: Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 (Orange Dragon mod) CPU: i5-3570K Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer GPU: GTX 670 Storage: 256gb Samsung 840 SSD PSU: Seasonic X-series 750w Cooling: Watercooled - EK water blocks - Alphacool fittings - 1 x 140mm rad - 1 x 280mm rad
  3. Thanks very much guys Just updated the first post with the final pics!
  4. Testing out the new orange power switch. Dremeled out the stock switch for an orange LED switch. How do I attach an acrylic stealth panel to hide the PSU cables? With double sided tape, of course!
  5. SSD hidden away. From sickly green to saphire orange, the magic of Mayhems orange dye! No leaks! Time to install some lights, and tidy up the cables...
  6. All painted and polished. Chassis complete! Ready to install the guts... Fans and fan controller installed. Moment of truth! Unfortunately there was a small leak in the pump. Thankfully it was resolved by tightening the fittings, phew!
  7. 280mm rad along the base + 140mm rad at the front = tight squeeze! Ready for painting! Unfortunately after cleaning the case parts of it started to rust ...so I had to soak the whole thing in a bath of vinegar It was as good as new after rubbing it down with some wire wool. Bits of "L" channel used to support the base. All panels sanded, then primed. Internals masked up to protect their black finish. Time for some colour!
  8. Started off with an all black Fractal Design Core 1000 case. Dragon designs drawn onto the top and the left side panels. Designs cut using a Dremel. Had to use a spoon to prop up the wobbly bits while dremeling 2 x 140mm fan holes. Test fit with waterblocks, radiators, and reservoir.
  9. Indeed, also just realised the MSI dragon logo would have fitted this theme perfectly!
  10. Thanks very much everyone! I used a hand file for the rougher areas, and then sand paper to smooth everything down ...definitely the most time consuming part of the build If I was to do it again I'd use a jigsaw to get smoother curves.
  11. ORANGE DRAGON Hi! I'm a long time follower, first time poster... Orange Dragon is my first mod. I'll be modding my current system (so specs aren't super new) into a watercooled, orange and black, dragon themed build. Here's the progress so far, enjoy! All questions, comments, and suggestions are welcome SPECS: CPU: i5-3570K Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer GPU: GTX 670 Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 (Orange Dragon mod) Storage: 256gb Samsung 840 SSD PSU: Seasonic X-series 750w Cooling: Watercooled - EK water blocks - Alphacool fittings __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE: Project ORANGE DRAGON is now complete!
