  1. hey guys havent been on in a while uni got me running. anyway recently aquired a Sony Vaio PCG-71613W with 1080p screen(needs replacing...again) and was thinking about using it as a mobile gaming laptop, its a bit old AMD 6650 and i5-2410M but hey probably better than the surface ive got for gaming. so was thinking about putting an i7 quad core in it and was wondering if there would be issues with the bios anyone would know of? btw socket is fine. also, anyone know how to set up a laptop to only use external display for everything, bios included? cheers
  2. cheers guys, the two manufacturers i was looking at were Asus strix and the Sapphire Nitro or there's the 290 series, but would have to get in from america..... any thoughts on the two motherboards? regards
  3. Hey guys so im building a new smaller pc to replace my AMD build for when i move (currently a student) Down side to being where i am, i get a bit screwed on PC prices. Anyway so deciding between a few components, the two afore mentioned motherboards, there's about a $100NZD (65usd) difference between them and wondering if its worth it. the other is the old 280 or 960, and their respective 4GB versions (gigabyte) cheers for any help SadisticHades Lord of the Underworld other info i5 6500 16gb adata DDR4 Corsair air 240 case kingston 240gb ssd

  5. yeah ive tried this before on my Dual X card several times, and non heavily threaded games like bioshock infinite and sleeping dogs i eaasily get 50-60fps on ultra at 1080
  6. cheers guys will try reseting clock speeds and cmos and what not for the question to temps underload cpu about 43C GPU about 60C regards
  7. OK cheers guys to answer the heat under load question cpu at 43 degrees C and GPU about 60 ish
  8. hello people ive been having some issues with poor performance with my i5 and 280X especially in threaded games like BF4 and Watch dogs usually around 30fps dipping to th low 20s no matter the settings i tried getting a new gpu going from a dualx to a vapour x 280X but no change in performance to my dismay but running some tests it seems that the cpu is maxed out on all 4 cores and it only seems t be running at 1.6GHZ rather than the OC of 4.3GHZ while gaming, yes i am aware of the power saving stuff just thought it wierd that its running that underload if i cant fix this i may have to replace the cpu or gpu any help appreciated regards
  9. this helped out alot usually staying in the 40fps or higher dipping down occasionally in heavy scenes yeah i am running mixed ram frequencies, did have the 1333mhz overclocked but that might have been lost so will try that sometime card core clock is 1020mhz and runs that consistantly thanks for all the help, will run a few more tests and what not and post results
  10. right sorry forgot to mention that, just standard 1920x1080p resolution so it shouldnt be pushing it to hard, so yeah ive been thinking it might be faulty since my old 7850 did just as well kinda hoping it wasnt that though
  11. hey guys for a while ive had my Sapphire DualX R9 280X and now im getting fed up with what i perceive to be bad performance in Battlefield 4 i hit lows of 20 fps not exceeding 60 on ultra or high changing the settings doesnt appear to have any effect and performance is similar between mantle and direct X this is the same story in pretty much all my modern titles saints row 4 and far cry 3 both hit about 40fps during gameplay i dont know if this is normal but it feels wrong for such a beefy card any help or suggestions would be great thanks PC specs NZXT Tempest 410 i5 2500K @4Ghz Asus P8Z68-V LE 16gb (4x4gb) DDR3 ram (8gb G-Skill 1333mhz, 8gb kingston dominator 1600Mhz) Sapphire Dual-X R9-280X 3gb GDDR5 thanks
