  1. Hi. I don't have any new sponsorship ideas, but I am wondering if there is any way to quickly find the most recent video with a specific sponsor. I don't know that I have ever watched a video and immediately decided to sign up for a sponsored product. But when I was ready to sign up for a VPN and an online backup service, I decided to go with PIA (well over a year ago) and Backblaze because they sponsored LMG videos. While I found the forum link to all the current sponsors working with LMG, I didn't see a quick way to find the most recent video sponsored by a specific company. I'd like to watch the most recent sponsor spot so that I can find their most recent/current offer. Finding the most recent sponsor spot would also allow me to make sure LMG gets credit for the sale. Is there a way to easily search for such videos? If not, could someone create a way to do that?
  2. I just tried unplugging and then plugging the cable into a different HDMI port on the TV. Now the sound is working. I have no idea why, but working is working. Thanks for helping me.
  3. I have a PC with a Core I9 9900K, an RTX 2060 and 32 GB of ram running 64-bit Windows 10 Home, Version 22H2 OS build 19045.2364. It is connected via the HDMI port on my GPU to a Samsung Q70 series TV. I've been using the PC and TV together since late 2019 without any issues. But when I turned it on this morning I had no audio from the PC through the TV. The picture/video works fine. The TV audio itself was also fine. It's just the audio from the PC that isn't working. I tried rebooting and then used the Windows troubleshooting function to reinstall my audio drivers. Still no audio through the TV. I tried some bluetooth headphones and I had audio through the headphones. I tried disconnecting the headphones and then tried uninstalling/removing them. Still no audio through the TV. I unplugged the HDMI cable from both the PC and TV and then reconnected it. Still no audio through the TV. Finally, I tried plugging the HDMI cable into the motherboard's HDMI port because that port worked before I installed my GPU, but I got neither audio nor video from it. I am not sure why the motherboard port didn't work, but ultimately it's the GPU port I want to get working. I am not sure what to try next. I would really appreciate any ideas. Thank you in advance.
  4. Thanks for the information. It lead me to a video by the YouTube community manager that says handles were rolling out but that everyone would receive an email about it. Would Gmail have sent an email from YouTube to my spam folder? Now that I know how to change the handle, I suppose I could change the number to my birth year or zip code, but that would only help identity thieves. At least now I understand why it changed. I also learned "my channel" to which I have never posted anything added 7 subscribers in the last 90 days. Imagine how great I could do if I ever posted a video? Maybe I should record some paint drying so my subscribers have something to watch. Watch out LTT, I'm coming for you!
  5. Whenever I commented on a YouTube video, the comment would have my name: Michael McChesney. But starting a few days ago the name on my comments was changed to @michaelmcchesney6645. I have no idea where the @ or the 6645 came from. It is not a social media handle that I use and nothing comes up when I google it. If I remove the @ from a google search, a Linked In page for a Michael McChesney that isn't me is the top result. My name was changed on not only new comments I leave, but comments I left over a year ago. Does anyone know why my name might have changed? Any idea how I could change it back? Thanks in advance for any ideas.
  6. Actually, my data is being encrypted. They call it "invisible encryption" and my data is being encrypted before the upload. That is probably what's responsible for the drain on my CPU. Thank you for the advice.
  7. I knew my PC has 16 threads. What I meant was that even if the backup was using 8 the other 8 should have been enough. I did not set up an encryption key. Do you know if it is possible to encrypt the backup after it has been uploaded? Or would I need to start the upload over? I really do not want to spend another month on this backup. Though I suppose worse case scenario, my only really sensitive files are on my C drive and that's only a couple hundred GBs.
  8. My drives aren't encrypted, but that might be it. I checked the settings and it has a setting for "maximum number of backup threads." The recommended setting is 8 threads. I am not sure if that is the same thing as CPU threads. But even if it was I'm running a 9900K so I would think it would be able to handle playing a YouTube video and playing a game of spider solitaire with the other 8 threads. But I've reduced the backup threads to 1 and restarted the upload. So far it is letting me type this reply. I'll increase the threads to 8 again when I am not using my computer. Thank you for the suggestion.
  9. I have a computer in my living room connected to my TV with almost 10 TB of files spread between 2 HDs & an SSD. I had some of it backuped on external drives, but really didn't backup regularly enough. I figured an online backup solution would be too expensive, but I saw LTT sponsor backblaze offered unlimited storage for $70/year. I started my backup at 8:58 am on 9/9/2021 and am now almost 90% backed up. I have had one problem though. My mouse and keyboard freeze up on me. I am using an inexpensive Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard that use one bluetooth dongle. . At first it was something that only happened occasionally. But as the month has gone on it has just gotten worse and worse, I changed the batteries so I know it's not that. Funny thing though, when I rebooted and paused the backup as soon as it restarted, both are working fine again. I am not so much looking for solutions as just wondering of anyone has had any similar experience? I was thinking the PCIE WiFi/Bluetooth card might have been getting overwhelmed, but the mouse and keyboard connect to a dongle. The backup is almost finished and even if I only run it when I am not using my computer it will be fully backuped in less than a week. While having the initial backup take this long has been a little annoying, it will be nice no longer feel guilty because I know better than not to keep my drives backed up.
  10. Thanks guys. I guess I will try an adapter first and if that won't work buy a USB drive.
  11. My family recently sold the house I grew up in requiring me to remove a number of boxes that I had stored there. In those boxes was a Zip Drive (parallel port version) I had purchased in or around 1996. There were also a number of 100 MB zip disks. I know, imagine a disk that could store a whole 100 MB!!! I don't remember exactly what is stored on those disks. There were probably backups of my 486 PC and files I moved to a zip disk to make room on my 420 MB HD. I would like to find something that will let me read those disks because there may be pictures or other files I would like to have. But since I haven't accessed any of these disks in well over 20 years, there are limits to how much I am willing to spend. I am not sure if the drive I have still works, but as I don't have a PC with a parallel port, it doesn't really matter. There are USB Zip Drives available on eBay for between $16 and $60. I am willing to spend that much, but I am concerned there will be driver and/or Windows 10 issues. Does anyone know if a USB Zip drive will work with Windows 10? I actually looked at some vintage PCs on eBay and saw a 486 clone that from the pictures not only had a parallel port, but appeared to have an internal Zip Drive for $450 with shipping. But what it didn't have was a description, other than a statement that the seller didn't accept returns. I might be tempted to buy that machine if I wasn't worried the only thing in the PC case was a burnt out motherboard and broken CPU. Thanks in advance for any info/advice you guys can share.
  12. I think we really need to cut them some slack because they are attempting something they haven't done before and encountered unexpected problems that they thought could be fixed within a week that actually took longer. So Linus is not going to make any promises as to when it will be ready. That seems reasonable. If on the other hand it was the video itself we were waiting for as opposed to the program the video is going to explain and production problems delayed it two weeks in a row I might be less understanding. I mean if Linus said, "we shot the video this week, but you know what? The video needs to be edited before it can be uploaded. We got some editing software, but our editors need to learn how to use it before they can edit the video." Well LMG's whole business is video production and they certainly know how to edit videos. Figuring out how to add tariffs in the shopping cart for every possible jurisdiction isn't their normal business.
  13. I'm wondering the same thing. It seemed they may just figure that if they announce the program is live in an LTT video, the cards are most likely going to go to regular LTT viewers who are most likely to be gamers. But on tonight's WAN Show, Luke seemed pretty emphatic that they can guarantee the cards only go to gamers. If you are going to confirm gamer status with Steam account names, does that mean they would need Steam to assist with the program? Does anyone have any other ideas about how gamer status could be verified? I suppose they could ask a question about Minecraft that someone that plays it will be able to answer. But not everyone plays Minecraft. Or perhaps they have a way to prevent bots from buying the cards and they figure if you are not a bot, you must be a gamer?
  14. I am not a senior citizen, but I am a retired person. A very considerate sanitation driver was kind enough to rear end my car while I was stopped at a red light. My car was totaled and my back was messed up. Surgery didn't fix it so I got to retire on disability. The City of New York spent about 5 years arguing the accident was my fault but eventually settled. So now I just sit at home watching LTT videos. At least I don't have a mortgage.
  15. I joined AARP a few months ago. I am only 53, but I needed a new pair of glasses and the AARP discount was 4 times the annual membership cost. I got their news paper the other day and it included a full page ad for Wow! Computers for seniors, $200 off!!!. I was curious and went to their page. The computer is an all in one with a 22" touch screen. It was easy to find out it was running a linux distro. It was also easy to find out the price was $1,099 (reduced from $1,299). What was hard to find were the specifications. But I found them. Screen 21.5" High Definition Touch Panel Processor Intel Celeron Quad Core Processor Memory 2 GB RAM Hard Drive 32 GB SSD Flash Drive (Additional Cloud Storage Available) Webcam Built-in 1.0MP Webcam with Microphone Input/Output 6 USB Ports, 1 Microphone In, 1 Earphone Out, 10/100/1000 LAN Wireless 802.11 b/g/n Speakers Stereo Speakers with Premium Sound Input Devices Keyboard and Mouse Included Even for a senior citizen, only 2GB of ram and a 32 GB SSD? A ONE MP webcam? For $1,099? I get that they are making a computer that will be easy for elderly non tech people to use. But at the very least, with everyone locked down and dependent on video calls, they should at least include a better webcam. My parents and grandparents have passed away so I don't have a family member that would need a PC like this. But if I did, I am sure I could find (or build) them a much better computer.
  16. Just for the record, I can now pretty definitively say the detection issue was related to the motherboard. I had originally built the PC using a Gigabyte B450 DS3H WiFi motherboard. I had two of them, one for a PC for myself and the other as a gift for my sister. But one of the boards wouldn't post so I sent in in for service and used the working board for my sister. Rather than wait a month to get the board back, I picked up an Asrock B550M Pro4 board at MicroCenter. The detection issue was with the PC with that board installed. I got the DS3H board back a couple of weeks ago with a note saying they had tested it and it worked fine. Isn't that always the way? I swapped out the motherboards this afternoon. In addition to the detection issue, the B550 board was slightly larger and because of the compact case size my optical drive wouldn't fit. Anyway, the Gigabyte motherboard is working, the optical drive fits and works (for the rare and unlikely event I feel like watching a DVD from bed) and best of all I can turn the computer off without my TV forgetting it' attached. Thanks for all the assistance and advice.
  17. My first PC was an Everex (ever heard of them?) desktop with a 486 66mhz with a 420 MB HD and 8 GB of ram and running Windows 3.1 purchased in 1995. I upgraded to Windows 95 a few months after getting it. I ended up donating it to the Salvation Army after getting a new PC in or around 1999. I really regret doing that. I think it would be cool to have a 25 year old antique like that. I suppose I could find a similar system on eBay, but my apartment is currently completely cluttered as my family home was sold last week. That meant all those boxes of things I was storing there had to be either thrown away or brought here. It also included my mother's 2 most recent PCs. One of them was only a couple of years old. I bought it for her because I thought her then PC was just too slow. I just refurbished it as an HTPC for my nephew's father. I just reconnected and started the older one this morning. I was reminded why I had decided to buy my mom a new one. OMG it is slow. It took 30 seconds to open a picture. It's an HP tower running an AMD E1-2500, with 4GB of ram and a 500GB HD. I looked up the CPU and apparently it was intended for low end notebooks. Which is really interesting because this desktop uses an external power supply like a notebook. But it is soooo slow. It can't just be the lack of an SSD. My mother was constantly getting her PC loaded up with malware. I finally figured out where it was coming from. She would go to infected websites to read spoilers for General Hospital. I had set up her new PC to boot without requiring a password. I ended up creating an account without administrative privileges so the infected sites couldn't install malware. But as I said I just set that up as an HTPC. But I don't know anyone else that needs/would want an HTPC and this PC doesn't have HDMI out anyway, only analog graphics. Any suggestions on what to do with it? I am leaning towards just salvaging the hard drive and maybe the ram. I wonder if I could get Windows 3.1 to run on it?
  18. I looked in to updating my Bios but I've decided against it. While I was in the Bios I tried to adjust the memory speed so I would actually get the 3200 mhz Corsair says the RAM is rated for. But after I did that my screen went blank and even trying 2 different monitors there was no video output. I cleared the CMOS and its working again. But this experience has convinced me to heed the warning about not updating your bios if your system is working well. But thank you very much for your suggestions.
  19. Thanks guys. I unplugged the PC, pulled the CMOS battery, and pressed the power button for 20 Mississippis. It's supposed to be done after 10 seconds but I doubled it just to be sure. then I left it for an hour before I put everything back. I am typing this on that PC so it must have worked. Thank you so much. I think i'll leave the memory speed set to auto. Ultimately this is a HTPC and I doubt I'll be doing much video rendering here. The only reason I adjusted it is because AMD is supposed to benefit from faster RAM and I paid for 3200 mhz and I like to tinker. I was thinking of updating the Bios because it was suggested as a possible fix for an issue I have wit this PC connected to my TV. For some reason, the TV has to "rediscover" the PC every time I turn it on. But it's only an annoyance and there is no guarantee an update would fix it. Smart TVs can be pretty stupid sometimes. Thank you again.
  20. I built a HTPC with am Asrock B550m Pro4 motherboard, a Ryzen 5 3400G CPU and 16 GB of CORSAIR - Vengeance LPX (2PK x 8GB) 3.2 GHz DDR4 RAM. I do not have a discrete GPU in the system. I recall from when I built my first system that 3200 memory doesn't run at 3200 unless you go into the bios and set it to that speed. That worked the first time I did it, though that was with an Intel board. But this time after I saved and exited, my screen went blank. I had a TV connected via HDMI, but I tried connecting an Acer monitor via HDMI and an even older Acer monitor via D Sub, but no video signal. I am thinking maybe I should have left the memory speed alone... I am guessing the memory is unstable and because the integrated graphics use 2 GB of system RAM as video RAM I am getting no video signal. I have 3 ideas on how to proceed. First, I could try removing the RAM and installing different modules from a different manufacturer. That might switch the memory speed setting back to "auto." I have some Team T-Force RAM that is also supposed to be 3200 speed and some DD4 RAM from an Asus prebuilt. My second idea is to try to "clear the CMOS." Am I right that would reset all the bios settings? Third, I could remove the GPU from my main system and temporarily put it in this system. Or if the memory is unstable would that mean it wouldn't even boot into the bios? What would you guys recommend?
  21. Thanks. I'll let you know how that works out. I agree with you about the smart remotes. Remember when you could just enter a channel manually? I have an Asus PC I bought at the same time as this TV and I used to have it connectred to it. But then last year I decided to build a PC and the Asus went into the closet. After I moved and bought a QLED TV for my living room I tried connecting the Asus in my bedroom. I had a few problems with it causing me to have to swap out its SSD. But one issue was that when I first turned it on it would flash on and off. Like 1 second on, 4 seconds off. If I switched inputs for 15 minutes when I came back it had stopped flashing. I tried swiching out the HDMI cable but no change. But if I used am HDMI cable to connect to a monitor it worked perfectly. Other PCs connected to the same HDMI port worked fine as well (aside from this detection issue). Sometimes electronics just have gremlins that don't make sense.
  22. I just realized I added to the thread instead of replying to you. But I just posted a longer reply.
  23. I've contacted Samsung many times. Most recently, they said I should unplug the TV and hold the power button on the TV for 10 seconds, then after a few minutes plug it back in. The problem is there are no controls on the TV, only on the remote. I need to contact them for a 6th time I guess. I just want the thing to stop detecting new devices and leave everything as it is. Yesterday, I left it unplugged about 20 minutes and plugged it back in. The last input was HDMI 2 and it started there and when I turned on the PC I saw Asrock splash screen and it booted into Windows. I thought "wow its fixed." Then about 45 seconds later it started detecting the PC I was already watching/looking at. Definetly a first world problem, but annoying just the same. I think the diference is more to do with the PC. For some reason the TV won't detect this PC when turned off, but will detect other PCs or devices that are off but plugged in. Something is different about this one and I don't know of its the motherboard, PSU or CPU. I think it's probbaly the motherboard or PSU. I suppose I could try swapping them out. I am waiting for Gigabyte to return a B450 DS3H WiFi board I sent in for warranty service because it wouldn't boot. I got tired of waiting and picked up the Asrock B550m Pro 4 at MicroCenter because it was available for only $118 and in stock even as most AMD boards were out of stock most places. Do you know if there is some setting somewhere that might be affecting powered off detection?
  24. Sorry, I wasn't around and didn't get a chance to check back here yesterday. My TV is the second one in the Samsung.com link. The one on Best Buy's website has 2 legs, while mine has the center stand. This is the link to the TV on Best Buy's website. In actuality it appears I bought the TV in January 2018, not 2017. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-55-class-led-mu7000-series-2160p-smart-4k-uhd-tv-with-hdr/5773701.p?skuId=5773701 I took a vodeo of the detection process but the file ended up too large to email to myself so I took a screen capture. I know there are probably easier ways to get media off my phone, but I don't take that many pictures or video. It took 55 seconds from the moment I turned the PC on until it failed. I then hit manual, then cancel and it went to the desktop. Thanks for your help.
