  1. Hey guys, I'm currently having a problem with a new NVME SSD that I bought recently. I am trying to install a clean version of windows 10 onto the drive. I made the installation media on a usb drive and then booted to that usb and installed windows onto the new drive. That all processed normally. However when I now boot to the new drive, It goes into the usually set up for windows 10 (so like do and I want this and that or whatever). The problem is I am never actually able to finish this setup before it seems to crash and defaults to a black screen where nothing happens. This happens at random times and isn't tied to a specific place in the setup. Any ideas on what might be causing this? Any help is appreciated . EDIT Never mind... turns out it switches monitor outputs halfway though for some reason... the monitor was being used by something else. There goes about 2 hours of my time...
  2. Mate your a life saver, that's done it. I'm going to try one last time to get windows 10 installed on this drive. (I think my usb installation media might need re-doing). Thanks a lot for that
  3. Hi Guys, really hoping you can help me with something. Been having an absolute nightmare trying to do something I thought was going to be easy. So here's the deal. I recently bought an NVME M.2 SSD. I currently have a normal SATA SSD with my windows 10 install on it. What I wanted to do was install a clean install of windows 10 onto the new drive and then format the old drive so that it was just empty. So I created a windows 10 install usb, loaded it up went though the process of installing windows 10 and... it crashes half way though installing the OS onto the new drive. When I boot onto the drive it takes me though setting up windows 10 (the usual, do you want this and that and whatever and then it will just crash to a black screen requiring a hard reset). Now, I can still boot into my old OS on my old drive. However for some really strange reason the new drive now has a recovery partition, a system partition and an empty partition (with page file). I am unable to format this drive back to completely empty because of the page file (according to diskpart anyway) Honestly I'm just incredibly confused and I just want my new drive to be completely empty now and have my old OS work. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense. I will provide a screenshot of my disk management screen and diskpart below.
  4. I've tried playing minecraft on versions 1.7 and 1.8 and its happening on both. Getting optifine for 1.7 didn't help with the chunk updates.
  5. Hey. So, I've been having some issues in some of my games recently (Mostly in KSP and Minecraft). In minecraft i am getting really high chunk updates 400+ (For those of you that don't know minecraft you shouldn't really be getting any more then 20+). In KSP (Kerbal Space Program) i am getting a Access Violation (0xc0000005) which is caused when ever i try to launch a ship or click certain UI elements. I'm quite sure this is an issue with my RAM as the chunk updates in minecraft relies heavily on the RAM and KSP is also a RAM intensive game. Also I used to have this same access violation back at the end of 2013, at the time i was using some really old Kingston memory and was planning an upgrade to the memory i'm using now (Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 2x4GB) after that the access violations went away. I ran memtest for 18 hours and that came back with no errors. I've also tried testing the stick individually but still happens on both sticks and I've also tried a full OS re-install. I'm really confused as to what to do now. I wanted to ask you guys know any thing about how i could fix this issue before i contact corsair about the lifetime warranty that is on these sticks to get a replacement. This is the KSP crash file - http://pastebin.com/fj4zzB2k Please ask for anything else you would need in helping me, My full computer specs are on my profile. Thanks - Callum
  6. Probably the 1440p Display, The 530+ PPI is amazing.
  7. Most people are telling me to stick with the 1155 socket and that seems more logical now that i see what the price would have been to to change out the motherboard as well as the CPU. Thanks
  8. I'm planning to do an upgrade to my computer in late August and want to upgrade my CPU. I currently have a Intel Core I5 3470 using the LGA 1155 socket. I'm planning to upgrade to a Intel Core I7 3770K but don't know whether i should upgrade my mother bored to the LGA 1150 socket and get a Intel Core I7 4770K CPU (Or the new 4790K) instead. Is it worth me upgrading to the newer socket? or should i just stick with the LGA 1155 socket for now? All replies appreciated.
  9. hmm, Ok, That does seem to be the better option here, but i was also wondering what manufacturer i should buy the GTX 780 from? Like what would be the best option? ASUS, EVGA, Gigabyte, etc? does it really matter?
  10. Hey, I have one GTX 660 in my system and have been contemplating whether i should buy another GTX 660 and put them in SLI or if i should buy a new card like the GTX 780. What would preform better? and what are the pros of having a single card? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also i have a 600W PSU, Would that be enough to power both cards if i choose to go SLI?
