  2. Massive congratulations to everyone on the LTT team! I found LTT about a year ago when looking at various case reviews, it was one of your traditional unboxings. I think it was of the Corsair Carbide 400R. I don't contribute here much, but I do read a lot of the posts here - especially in the build logs section Anyway thanks for putting this giveaway together, and best of luck to everyone!
  3. My favourite parts about the Z2 have to be the waterproofing and the dedicated camera button - more phones need that! Used to have one on my old Windows Phone 7, it was so useful. The DBrand skins look awesome and use high quality 3M stuff which is great. Love that custom LTT skin!
  4. I like the display! Much nicer than the 1366x768 TN I have now...
  5. Hi, I don't normally post on LTT (I lurk ), but I felt like chiming in here. Regarding Memtest, try using the better Memtest86+, downloadable here: http://memtest.org/#downiso You need to run it for at least 8 passes - it can take a long time for errors to show. Run it overnight. I had a look at your dumps too - please try updating your AMD graphics card drivers. I'm seeing DirectX and the AMD/ATI drivers themselves in the stacks in some of the dumps: fffff880`193c6bf8 fffff802`4485c1c0 nt!KiSystemCall64fffff880`193c6c00 fffff880`061d41af dxgmms1!VIDMM_GLOBAL::UpdateFence+0x6ffffff880`193c6c08 fffff880`061ab000 dxgmms1!DXGADAPTER::DdiQueryAdapterInfo <PERF> (dxgmms1+0x0)fffff880`193c6c10 fffff880`061c4e7c dxgmms1!bTracingEnabled <PERF> (dxgmms1+0x19e7c)fffff880`193c6c18 fffff880`061ab000 dxgmms1!DXGADAPTER::DdiQueryAdapterInfo <PERF> (dxgmms1+0x0)fffff880`193c6c20 fffff880`061c4c54 dxgmms1!bTracingEnabled <PERF> (dxgmms1+0x19c54)fffff880`193c6c28 fffff880`061ab000 dxgmms1!DXGADAPTER::DdiQueryAdapterInfo <PERF> (dxgmms1+0x0)fffff880`193c6c30 fffff880`061c4030 dxgmms1!bTracingEnabled <PERF> (dxgmms1+0x19030)fffff880`193c6c38 fffff880`06031000 dxgkrnl!ADAPTEROWNERTRACKER::~ADAPTEROWNERTRACKER <PERF> (dxgkrnl+0x0)fffff880`193c6c40 fffff880`060698e4 dxgkrnl!__PchSym_ <PERF> (dxgkrnl+0x388e4)fffff880`193c6c48 fffff880`06031000 dxgkrnl!ADAPTEROWNERTRACKER::~ADAPTEROWNERTRACKER <PERF> (dxgkrnl+0x0)fffff880`193c6c50 fffff880`06069da0 dxgkrnl!__PchSym_ <PERF> (dxgkrnl+0x38da0)fffff880`193c6c58 fffff802`44803000 nt!`string' <PERF> (nt+0x0)fffff880`193c6c60 fffff802`44b14410 nt!KiInitialPCR <PERF> (nt+0x311410) fffff880`02b99170 fffff880`02b99190fffff880`02b99178 fffff880`064e997dUnable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\atikmdag.sys, Win32 error 0n2*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for atikmdag.sys*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for atikmdag.sys atikmdag+0x2797dfffff880`02b99180 00000000`00000000fffff880`02b99188 fffff800`6ea33300 hal!HalpInterruptSendIpi+0x551 Information and download link for the AMD drivers - http://sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=atikmdag.sys Try multiple versions if it is still not stable, including beta drivers. If the RAM passes, and updating the drivers doesn't help, I'd stress test the GPU: Try running Furmark to stress test your GPU. Select your resolution and enable: Burn-In Xtreme Burn-In Post FX Settings -> Log GPU Temperature Stop the test if any artifacts appear on the display or temperature levels exceed 90C. If no artefacts or distortion appears on the screen, consider the test passed. If artefacts do appear, make sure the card is properly seated. Then use the Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 to test your graphics card memory. Let the memory test run for at least seven passes; the more the better. Finally run Prime95 (64bit/32bit) Run Small FFTs, In-place large FFTs, and Blend for a few hours each. Report back if CPU temperatures reach dangerous levels, if the system crashes, or if hardware errors are discovered by the diagnostics. A full tutorial on how to do this is availible here: http://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/3908-prime95-hardware-stress-testing.html It is important to keep an eye on your computers temps during these tests. To do so, try the following software. Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor. Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures. HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.
  6. Hi, Please give the following a try before you give up on the SSD. It may just be fixable. Try doing a power cycle of the SSD. The following steps should be carried out and take ~1 hour to complete. Power off the system. Remove all power supplies (ac adapter then battery for laptop, ac adapter for desktop) Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and drain all components of power. Reconnect all power supplies (battery then ac adapter for laptop, ac adapter for desktop) Turn on the system and enter the BIOS (see your manual for the steps to enter the BIOS) Let the computer remain in the BIOS for 20 minutes. Follow steps 1-3 and physically remove the SSD from the system by disconnecting the cables for a desktop or disconnecting the drive from the junction for a laptop. Leave the drive disconnected for 30 seconds to let all power drain from it. Replace the drive connection(s) and then do steps 4-8 again. Repeat steps 1-4. Start your computer normally and run Windows. The above steps were a result of: Why did my SSD "disappear" from my system? - Crucial Community While that may not be your drive, a power cycle should be the same on all SSD drives. See how the system responds after the SSD power cycle. Fingers crossed!
  7. Fair enough - I was just going from personal experience. I've had no issues using MSE on old, low end systems where other A/V's slow the system down too much. But as I said, I've switched to Avast! for free antivirus due to the better protection it offers. I've seen too many BSOD's caused by AVG drivers to be able to recommend it, and in fact found it very heavy on resources. My recommendations are as follows. Free - Avast! Paid - ESET Smart Security / NOD32
  8. I have always found MSE to be very light on system resources, but I haven't been fully satisfied with protection. I have heard good things about the newest versions of Kaspersky. With regards to what I presonally use, the family computer(s) use Avast! Free Anti-Virus, but on my personal machine, I am running ESET Smart Security 7. I have found ESET to be the best combination of security and low impact on system resources. I also use MBAM for on-demand scanning.
  9. I second this idea. Do you perhaps have a bluetooth mouse or keyboard? Or a bluetooth headset?
  10. Hello everyone! Don't want to start my forum experience with a negative note, but I would like to make a complaint about the registration form. It took me about 10 attempts to register. Why? You have two buttons - "Create Account" and "Continue". I didn't spot the create account one, only the continue one under the birthday question. It seems clicking continue just reloads the form. You have to press the "Create Account" button, not the continue one. I would recommend removing the Continue button. And no, I'm not an inexperienced forum user - I adminstrate one low traffic and one medium/high traffic board myself. Anyway, moan over! Hello everybody!
