  1. TLDR: A friend and I were lamenting the lame t-shirt options at a Micro Center, and we realized that there could be an opportunity here for partnership. I was really interested in the discussion on last week's WAN show about the merch team trying to expand its marketing reach. Stepping aside from the moral debate about affiliate marketing, I want to ask if the team/community had thoughts about good old-fashioned retail. I am by no means a professional in this kind of industry, but I think that striking a deal with companies like Memory Express or Micro Center (especially Micro Center) would be a great steppingstone for what it seems that they are trying to accomplish. Partnering with a brick-and-mortar store could help secure larger deals while potentially offsetting annoying issues like international/national distribution. Customer acquisition could be lowered since LTT store products will be on a literal shelf. I'm willing to bet that the interplay between electronic store shoppers and LMG fans is pretty high, but there's still plenty of customers who can be reached. Plus, the team could start at electronics stores and then expand into more traditional department stores.
  2. Um ... I can't identify a specific video, but are you talking about flowcode? It's pretty neat, and I think I saved it to my favorites bar about a year ago if that helps with a timeline.
  3. The Firewire connection … I remembered it while looking at a motherboard that came with one of those ports. I feel like it would a useful video for people who wonder what it is, and also its technical competition to the earlier versions of USB deserve some recognition in my opinion.
  4. It all depends on how you use your phone. The S9 has better overall specs if you play intensive mobile games, care about the camera, and have access to a strong signal, but the Pixel 2 is still able to handle all of the day to day features like email as well as be a competent device for gaming and pictures, even though S9 outperforms it.
  5. If you are a Mac user, I would recommend the iPhone for the ecosystem, but I honestly think that performance between the two phones is about equal nowadays. No phone can completely destroy another. If battery is one of your main decision points, the galaxy should be picked because of its sheer size.
  6. Recently I have been looking into buying a nice, budget laptop to use for when I am away from my home and office PC. A trend that I seemed to notice is that a lot of the budget models have otherwise decent specs for what I think I would use the laptop for (media consumption and productivity/office work), but I see a lot of reviewer complaints about 32gb of memory being way to little to run windows. I decided to avoid any products with 32gb and ended up moving to 64gb. There seems to be a lack of reviews and information about the laptops I am looking at, so I decided to ask the wonderful LTT community... Is 64gb enough space for a laptop that will probably be only used for media (not even anything super high resolution) and lots of word files for the ability of portable work? Edit: The only applications I am thinking of installing on the device are a Virus Protector, Office, Dropbox, and maybe a music streaming service.
  7. On the WAN show, I think Luke mentioned that they put exclusive content on FP because of quality and because they don't have to mess with the YouTube algorithm.
  8. https://www.androidcentral.com/samsungs-use-graphene-batteries-increases-charge-speed-five-times Considering that most electronics such as smartphones, tablets, laptops/notebooks, and even cars are powered by lithium ion batteries that have not seen much significant innovation in the past years, the fact that Samsung is introducing this graphene technology would probably take this slow moving industry to the next level. Just in the smartphone world, most flagship phones are becoming more and more similar to each other especially in the processor, display, build, software, and battery areas. As a consumer, the quality and size of the battery in a phone is an important factor on deciding whether or not I should buy it. Although I doubt that this technology will be implemented on the next Samsung Galaxy flagships especially after the credit it has to rebuild as a company after last year, we could finally have commonplace 4500mah+ batteries in our phones that could last us not only a few days (helpful for me since I often forget that unless I charge overnight, I'll end up with 25% power in the morning) compared to phones of today that can't last a day of heavy use without a charge, but also a few years thanks to the improved charge retention, a problem of li-ion batteries. Moving beyond the scope of phones, this tech could help create a world where electric cars can go significantly farther than their fuel based counter-parts with less charging time. The possibilities are endless. Hope Samsung doesn't mess this up.
