  1. My 5GHz 8700k @ 1.285v nearly thermal throttles when stress testing w/ cinebench or real bench. It reaches 97c when I do that. Though, none of this is really representative for gaming. My temperatures remain around 50c-75c when gaming and 30c-40c when idle.
  2. Ok, thanks. I'll make sure I do that, but what about the fans that I bought, should I use those as radiator fans?
  3. Hey, I just wanted some opinions some parts I am going to be using for my new build. I originally had a system with an i7-7700, but wanted to do an entire rebuild because it was a disaster(tons of things came DOA and my NZXT AIO leaked). I am deciding on a rebuild with most of the emphasis on aesthetics w/ the 8700k. I saved up enough money since I started my first job (I'm 16). Most of the parts are already purchased. Here's the PCPartPicker list - PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor ($399.00 @ B&H) CPU Cooler: Deepcool - CAPTAIN 240EX WHITE 153.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (Purchased For $99.99) Thermal Compound: Cooler Master - MasterGel Maker 4g Thermal Paste (Purchased For $9.00) Motherboard: ASRock - Z370 Extreme4 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (Purchased For $148.98) Memory: Team - Dark Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (Purchased For $199.99) Storage: Samsung - 960 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (Purchased For $240.00) Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (Purchased For $66.00) Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG STRIX Video Card (Purchased For $590.00) Case: Phanteks - ECLIPSE P400 TEMPERED GLASS ATX Mid Tower Case (Purchased For $69.99) Power Supply: EVGA - B3 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (Purchased For $73.00) Case Fan: be quiet! - SilentWings 3 PWM High-Speed 77.6 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $20.90) Case Fan: be quiet! - SilentWings 3 PWM High-Speed 77.6 CFM 140mm Fan (Purchased For $20.90) Case Fan: be quiet! - SilentWings 3 PWM High-Speed 73.3 CFM 120mm Fan (Purchased For $19.90) Monitor: ViewSonic - VX2778-smhd 27.0" 2560x1440 60Hz Monitor (Purchased For $329.99) Keyboard: Cougar - AttackX3-4IS (MX Brown) Wired Gaming Keyboard (Purchased For $74.00) Mouse: Logitech - G203 Prodigy Wired Optical Mouse (Purchased For $39.99) Other: CableMod ModFlex™ Basic Cable Comb Kit – Transparent (x1) & CableMod White Cables (Purchased For $95.40) Other: Phanteks PH-FF120RGBP Halos RGB Fan Frame – High density LEDs, RGB, 120mm fan mounting (Purchased For $9.99) Other: Phanteks PH-FF140RGBP Halos RGB Fan Frame – High density LEDs, RGB, 140mm fan mounting (Purchased For $9.99) Other: Phanteks PH-FF140RGBP Halos RGB Fan Frame – High density LEDs, RGB, 140mm fan mounting (Purchased For $9.99) Total: $2527.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-12-23 16:03 EST-0500 How much of an improvement should I expect with the 8700k? All of the parts are different from my last build, except the GPU, storage, and the peripherals. I am also a bit confused on the AIO, mainly how the fan configurations work. For example, the Phanteks P400 only supports a front radiator and the other fans I am adding for the case are all exhaust. So, if I do a pull configuration will that mean that the radiator fans become intakes for the whole case as well? Also, will it be worth it to buy EK Vardar fans for the radiator, or no? I am also thinking of buying a delidded 8700k at https://siliconlottery.com, should I bother? Overall, what do you guys think about my selection and do you guys have any other tips? Thanks!
  4. I am a little confused about the RMA process of some parts. For example, if I bought a intel processor on Newegg and it comes DOA and the Newegg warranty has expired, how do I RMA it? Could I RMA it through Intel directly since it's a boxed processor? I am asking this because I bought some of my parts for my new build a while back w/ out testing them and I am finally getting around to getting the rest of the parts. I am a bit worried it will be a convoluted process and my last build came w/ 3 DOA parts and I ended up just buying new ones instead returning them. So, I am worried this build may come with DOA parts as well.
  5. Higher speeds/bandwidth will triumph lower CAS in terms of gaming performance. Lower CAS will mostly make a difference in workstation scenarios. Here's a good reference if you want to see how bandwidth can affect gaming performance — https://www.techspot.com/article/1171-ddr4-4000-mhz-performance/
  6. I would suggest this keyboard if you really want MX Brown at a decently low price — Cougar Attack X3.
  7. While, I don't know much about sensors and etc. I am pretty sure Logitech currently has the best gaming mouse. Here's some better information — https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/MouseReview/comments/697z3b/what_mousemice_have_the_best_sensor/
  8. Don't worry too much about a leak because from my experience if your AIO does leak, usually the manufacturer will replace the components affected. That has actually happened to me, my NZXT aio leaked and managed to break my GPU but they replaced it and the aio.
