  • Biography
I was born in New Orleans and decided to join the Army right after high school. The next six to seven years of my life were spent in the military going to Afghanistan twice, Germany, Turkey, and Honduras. Since I got out of the military in 2007 I have been struggling with my health, but the VA has finally got there act together and is now helping me out. I am currently studying computer programming and once my health returns to an acceptable level I might look into the tech industry for a job.

  1. https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2014/11/12/stuxnet/#respond This story is extremely well reported by reputable journalist written in a way that someone like myself, who like most LTT forum users, considers themselves somewhat knowledgeable in the tech industry can follow along and understand about a very complicated subject. It's paints a picture of current affairs in the cyberwarfare going on throughout the globe and it's not scary to look at but thinking about what implications could arise from these type of attacks are scary. I know it is a little long but it's worth the read, the amount of interest and knowledge I gained about a subject I knew very little to none about is amazing. Edit: This is also a very important subject that is limited to only the people capable of understanding it.
  2. I was thinking of upgading the GPU to two in SLI for an even better 1440p refresh rate. Do you think my corsair 860PSU is enough power for those two cards ?
  3. Ok so let me start with giving you my current setup and then asking for your recommendation on what I would be using the setup for. Current setup: Case: Corsair 350D Mobo: Maximus VI Gene CPU: i7-4770K 3.5ghz (overclocked to 4.4ghz) Cooler: Corsair H100i Ram: 16gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866 GPU: EVGA Superclocked Geforce GTX 780 Ti (Overclocked to 1.1ghz) SSD: x2 500gb Samsung 840 EVO HD: 1TB WD Caviar Black PSU: Crosair 860 Keyboard: Ducky Shine 3 (Green) Mouse: Razor DeathAdder 2013 Monitor: Asus VG24QE + G-Sync Module All fans replaced with Corsair AF Quiet Editions(except cooler SP quiet edition) Now I am preparing to upgrade to a new 27" monitor and I am torn between the Asus RoG Swift or the Asus PB278Q WQHD. Now I primarly use this computer for gaming, but I know a little bit of graphic design and would like to improve, I have the time and capabilities to get better. Now Should I trade the G-Sync and the 1ms 144hz for the WQHD and the 5ms ???hz ? Can someone please tell me the hz of the PB278Q? I usually play CSGO, but am finding myself playing it less and less and moving to games like Dark Souls and gonna check out this new Shadow of Mordor game. When I am editing photos it is really more of a hobby of just messing around but I started with ms paint>photoshop1>2>3>Bryce>HTML>Flash all by the age of 15. Yada yada I did some artwork for the wrong person and the FBI showed up and scared me away from graphic design for the past 16 years. So I know a lot of the fundamentals I just need to catch up. I want to start work on a possible podcast with website, I will be getting the MIC, sound card, sound board, ect later. Also will my 780 Ti be suffect enough to run games well at 2560x1440 or should I think of upgrading that as well to an SLI setup? Sorry if this is a long post but I am just coming to understand the difference between these panels. I just bought a Toshiba 2 Chromebook a couple of days ago and it has a 13" IPS panel and it looks so much crisper and better than my current VG24QE+G-Sync. Oh yeah here is the price difference: Asus RoG Swift - $799 and the PB278Q - $459 Thank you for the help
  4. Congratulations on your 1 million YouTube subscribers, you guys deserve it! I have been attached to a PC ever since I first laid my hands on an old IBM from the 80's and enjoyed gaming and technology throughout my 30+ years on this earth. I have always wanted to build my own 'custom' enthusiast grade PC but really lacked the confidence to do it. Late last year I stumbled on to your videos when I was looking at potential PC hardware upgrades and saw your 'how to' videos and really started to feel like I could achieve the custom lightning speed rig I have always wanted. After joining your forums and becoming a member of LTT I felt I had the necessary backups in place if something went wrong in the build to where I could get it up and running with a good overclock. I was amazed after I built the rig and pressed the power button everything came on without one hiccup, i get a little emotional let me explain. After I was medically discharged from the military in 07' I fell into a deep dark hole and only got out late last year through the help of a PTSD/Rehab program at the Houston VA. This PC that I have built with your help was the first thing I attempted after that program and it worked and I saw it all the way through and that was the first 'achievement' on my own since I left the military. It was with you and Slick's help and I can't thank y'all enough, thank you Linus from the bottom of my heart. Now in one month I will be sober for a year and am soon going into a different type of medical treatment to hopefully get one more level higher on the health meter. Thanks again and GL in all your travels and future endeavors.
  5. So I started buying a few action figures of the guys from Portal 2, Gordan Freeman, and a couple Futurama guys. Now I am looking for some Stormtroopers and I saw some a guy on this forum posted with his build that were really nice. They were all different troopers from various parts of the empire, I suppose. I was wondering if anyone on here knew where to get some of these or if anyone knows where to buy high end really detailed action figures? I know it's kind of a childish collection but I am just a big kid.
  6. I just have to ask, does anyone know why there is a twinkies box in the background of 90% of linus videos ?
  7. I just don't get the 9000 for what when it seems like you are using parts from previous builds? Also just because you have 64gb of ram doesn't mean you have to use it all, sell the excess on eBay and get some money to add towards other parts of the build. Although if you really are spending 9000 just keep the money, cause spending over that makes no sense at all. Oh and if you are going to keep this log going I expect to see some pictures of some of these components soon otherwise this just sounds like a troll post.
  8. the corsair obsidian 750d and 350d do come with pre-installed standoffs. Next time your feeling in the dark about something do a google search.
  9. I really should I don't even use the link. I will do that and install this HDD that arrived tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion, wouldn't have thought of that.
  10. I would not call it big or small, it is definitely the right size for me. I am glad I went with the mATX just because I am using mainly for gaming and it has everything the ATX has + can expland to SLi and more memory later on.
  11. GOT EVERYTHING FINISHED! Sorry it took this long to post pictures but I wanted to get everything done first - Install Windows 7/Update Drivers/Overclock. I got my 4770K to 4.6ghz, and the 780 Ti w/ VG248QE 144hz w/ G-Sync looks amazing. The Ducky keyboard is a little smaller than I am use to, but it is awesome and I am getting use to it. Very Very surprised I had no problems with starting it up and getting everything installed/updated. Also surprised at how quiet it is, although my last pc was a dell xps that sounded like a jet engine however it is very silent even during stress testing. Anyway sorry the pictures are not as awesome as the pc but I am not a good photographer nor do I have a good camera. After Overclock CPU is running on average temp of 35c on idle and 75c on 100%
  12. Besides 7zip and CPU-Z what is some essential software I should get ?
  13. I just finished putting all the hardware together and cable management when the DHL guy pulls up and hands me my ducky shine 3! On mobile will post pictures later on
  14. Hurts to say, build + peripherals - 3232.71 Saved for a couple months
