  1. As a mechanical keyboard enthusiast myself, you haven't typed until you've typed on mechanical switches. Fortunately, mechanical keyboards have become more and more popular as pc gaming continues to grow, so naturally lots of people eventually want to upgrade, or try out new switches all the time. With that in mind, you can purchase second hand mechanical keyboards really cheap on reddit and eBay, saving you 20-50% on the boards. However, even if you wanted to purchase brand new, you can get something like the coolermaster Quickfire TK for less than $90 usually. Although, if you do decide to get the monitor for Christmas this year instead, I'd recommend the Asus VGxxxx (forgot the exact model) 144hz monitor. Three of my friends have it that I play with frequently and they love it. Now, if you do decide to go this route and have your monitor be your Christmas present, then take a look at the CM Storm Devastator KBaM combo. I wrote a review on it not too long ago here, and for the money it is a fantastic setup. It runs around $30, so maybe you can convince whoever buys your christmas presents to pick one up for you with the Asus Good luck!
  2. You could always just pick up a switch from your local Best Buy if you need something soon. Just plug in another long cable (or a few, depending on the amount of pc's in your room) into the switch.
  3. I don't remember the exact rules about referencing other forums here, so instead of directly linking you to said forum, I'm just going to quote the user. (Lots of lines, so I put it in a spoiler) Frankly if you want to find said forum and thank the user stated above, a quick google search should pop up his name, so you can thank him properly. Nevertheless, this should fix your problem, however if for some reason the aforementioned steps don't fix it, then post back here with what worked/what didn't. Good luck!
  4. The biggest help here would be the exact message that comes up when your PC BSODs. For instance, almost a year and a half ago my PC constantly blue screened and it was because my SSD's drivers weren't updated properly (watchdog error I believe?)

    DVI vs VGA

Frankly I would use VGA just so I can leave the DVI port open for other things in the future. (e.g. laptop, pc, etc) As long as the VGA cable isn't too long, the only real difference is how the information is being carried. (Analog Vs. Digital)
  6. Mind listing your specs for us? I checked your profile and couldn't find them there either. Also, it depends on the MMO. Most of them are heavily bound to CPU, e.g. WoW.
  7. Alright, so I found out the problem. Long story short: I'm an idiot. Basically, I have a graphics tablet that I use for osu!, I don't play the game a whole lot, but when I do I enjoy it a lot more with a tablet. Nevertheless, when I am not playing osu, I push the tablet back behind my mousepad. Therein lies my problem. My Mouse wire would continuously "tap" the tablet, and register it as a hand/finger touching the tablet. All of the mice I had tried to use had braided cables, which I believe was the biggest factor in these autopresses. So, theres nothing wrong with any of my mice, and I wasted $80 for a mouse I didn't need. GG.
  8. I don't think its a Windows "Malicious" file anymore. I too, used to think that it may have been something like this, however when I went to try to install Ubuntu, it continued to randomly click all the way through installation. I do believe that this would rule out any Windows-isolated errors. (seeing as to I wasn't even on Windows and the issue persisted) Maybe it is something wrong with my USB Ports getting confused and sending mouse button press reports when it shouldn't be? I'm stumped. EDIT: I think it may have actually been a USB 3.0 port issue. I plugged the mouse into my K70, which is plugged into a USB 2.0 port, and thus far (its only been about 3 or so minutes) there hasn't been any more autoclicks. I'll edit this post again if the issue persists, however until then I will consider this to be the solution. If there are no more Autoclicks in the next 4 hours, then I will mark this thread as solved. Thanks to everyone for the help :] EDIT 2: Welp, it didn't fix the issue. While I was screwing around in eclipse it clicked enough to select all the text in my Class and when I typed my next letter it removed everything ;_; (thank goodness for CTRL + Z) Any other ideas?
  9. Running a virus scan now with MBAM. EDIT: Virus scan turned up nothing. I'll try this now, will edit this post in a few minutes. EDIT: Yes, this issue still occurs while no mouse in plugged in.
  10. Hello; To keep things brief, my PC keeps clicking things randomly, without me touching the mouse. It will spam Right/Left click basically whenever it feels like it. At first, I thought that maybe my nearing 2-year-old Roccat Kone was going out on me, however the issue persists with both the Logitech G600, and the ROG Gladius (the latter I had purchased in hopes of it being the Kone that was the problem). So, when all three mice all had the same issues, I thought that it would definitely have to be a software issue. With this in mind, I booted into safe mode, and if it was something driver related, then theoretically the issue should halt while in safe mode. Well, the issue persisted throughout the time I was in Safe mode. (Therefore eliminating the cause of it being driver-related) At this point, it is highly unlikely that all three of my mice have the same exact auto clicking "feature" so I'm assuming it must be another cause. Just incase you don't completely understand what is occurring, I'll give you an example of how this is extremely bothersome. If I'm playing Counter-Strike, and I'm shift-walking around, my mouse will force my weapon to fire, even though I didn't press the mouse button, which gives away all my hopes of being stealthy. This becomes even more so bothersome when trying to watch basic things such as Youtube videos, or movies. My mouse will continually press on the screen, causing it not only to play/pause, but also continuously toggle full-screen mode. This happens at random intervals as well. It might be fine for 10 minutes, then be on and off every 20 seconds for the next hour. Also, I've tried several different USB ports, so I don't think that is a problem either. If you have any other tips for me, that would be wonderful. Otherwise, next I think I might just re-install windows or try out Ubuntu/Debian. Thanks.
  11. I highly recommend the Roccat Kone XTD (or other variants of said mouse). I have used it with many games, ranging from CS to MMO's. It has not only a large number of programmable buttons, but a "Shift" layer that allows you to add another layer of programmable buttons. I have used this mouse for almost a year and a half now, and I have loved every second of it. Also, IIRC the Kone has 5 different programmable modes that you can switch between. Personally I only ever used one, and used a few to autobuy for me in CS, and a few others for PTT in mumble/teamspeak/in-game, but asides from that I just love it as a raw mouse for Basic FPS's.
  12. Vessel Username: CCap Videos I've enjoyed in my time on Vessel: SLI Titan X 5k Benchmarks: this ironically was the first video I viewed on vessel, but it was one I was anxious to see. Although it was awesome to see 5k benchmarks and all, as an owner of a 4k monitor I wish that I could have at least seen a graph or two of benchmarks at 4k with SLI Titans. Nevertheless, there are already a few other videos out there with those numbers, its just a bummer I couldn't hear Luke tell me all about it That video can be found here. Just incase a bot chooses the winner and doesn't like hyperlinks, I'll post the link again here: https://www.vessel.com/videos/JemZ8O7Hy My second favorite video on Vessel that I personally enjoyed watching was the "Insane Storage Server, 10Gigabit NAS" video (Full link just incase a bot swoops by and checks for two Vessel Links in plaintext https://www.vessel.com/videos/LCoY5zfFf). Frankly the entire concept seemed more like a "Dream Nas" than one that someone would actually need. Although, with you guys outputting 4k Pro-res videos daily, I can only imagine the space that would take up over time. I don't know what I was more excited about throughout the entire video though. The $600 motherboard, the hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in Storage, plus a 10Gbps switch, or the sweet rack-style case you have. Insane. Nevertheless, you mentioned around 5:20 or so in that video that you were interested in getting a network video rendering machine, and that is a video I would have no problem watching several episodes on. Just be sure to walk us through the whole process, how you'd connect it to all the employee's PC's, as well as a few Benchmarks to measure how well it outputs things from basic Video Renders to 3-D Rendering, or even F@H. Also, Did I hear you correctly when you said eighteen core Xeons? My goodness would that be sick. Then again, what need would Edzel and Co. have for their old rendering PC's? I mean, Edzel already has a 12 core Xeon iirc, so would you sell their old hardware for more standard gear, or just leave their already powerful hardware in the machines? Looking back, there really was no need for me to type the explanation as to why I liked each video, but in the unlikely scenario that Linus & Co actually do read this post and reward me with a prize from the giveaway, I thought the least I could do would be to give them a bit of feedback. Finally, I would just like to thank each and every member of Linus Media Group for the work they do to bring us quality content day in and day out. Not only do I appreciate and trust the content that you all release on a day-to-day basis, but hundreds of thousands of other tech-enthusiasts share the same thoughts as I. Since I'm still here and have spent way more time that I likely should have on a forum post that most likely three people will ever see, I'll crunch out the numbers (based on current post count) of roughly my odds of winning. At the time of me typing this out, there are 1,122 pages of posts of which people have entered. From what I can tell after browsing through three pages of entries, about 1 in every three posts included a twitter share, and about 1 in every five or so included a facebook share. This is a very rough estimate, but it should suffice. There are 20 posts per page, but only 19 on the first, since the OP's post counts towards that page's 20 posts. Therefore 1122 * 20 = 22440 - 1 = 22439 entries based purely on favorite video count. However, this does not yet account for the approximate number of twitter shares and facebook shares that will also be included to the total, therefore .333 * 22439 (proportion P of users who shared on twitter) = approx. 7472. 7472 + 22439 = 29911 total entries thus far. Then once we account for the number of facebook entires, you must multiply .2 * the original amount of total entries based on favorite videos (or post count, depending on how you look at it) = .2 * 22429 = 4488 approx. 4488 + the total number of entries based on postcount (22439) + total number of entires based on twitter shares (7472) = 34399 total entires. The chance of me winning on the first prize draw is 1/34399 as of me typing this. All of this considered when the giveaway has been open for <24 hours. I'll come back in a few days and check to see that my math is right, and I might update the numbers just before the giveaway closes, but for now I must sleeps. Good luck to everyone, and may the statistics be with you.
  13. Slightly off topic, but I highly recommend checking out http://alientube.co/which, simply put, is a replacement for Youtube comments. What it will do is search reddit for any link posts that reference that video, and then leaves the reddit comments where the youtube comments normally are. You do, however, have the option to click between reddit posts and Youtube comments by clicking the "G+ Comments" button on the top of the comments section. Which is a nifty feature for when either A) The only reddit posts this video has are those that are on dead subreddits, or the video got no traction on the subreddit it was posted on or B) The video has never actually been posted to reddit (this mostly happens with unpopular videos, or new videos). Frankly ever since I installed this Youtube has become exponentially better. The only real exception to this is Linus's videos, which usually link to a dead subreddit with a post with very few comments, so I end up just reading the Youtube comments there or coming over here to check out the discussion thread if the topic interests me. I recommend the same to you :^) --- As for the actual dislike button thing, I believe that Youtube has some sort of check in place to ensure that an abundance of dislikes don't all originate from the same IP. e.g. If I make 10 youtube accounts and go and dislike a youtube comment, then most likely only one or two of the dislikes will actually dislike the comment. The rest are ignored as spam. However, there are many people that have Botnets (or an abundance of RATs) at their disposal, which is why you'll occasionally see those "W0W FR3E STE4M M0NIES!!11!!" posts with 60+ likes and 20 comments of spam, which are clearly all from the same person (across different accounts). However since the botnet has a wide range of "slave" connections (all with their own separate IP address), they are all registered by youtube as individual clients, thus allowing those likes/dislikes to actually occur.
  14. It would be fine for gaming, if that's what you're asking here. 2ms response time, 60Hz, you're good to go. The only thing that I'd be weary of is that 27" @ 1080p has some noticeable pixelation (up close, at least), I would consider going for a smaller monitor size such as 23" or 24" if you have plans of being a few inches away. Besides, that monitor is reconditioned, you can almost get monitors for that price brand new on amazon. For instance, I'd recommend this monitor. It's 23.6", has a TN panel (better for gaming, barring that you are going to be playing games like CS:Go that demand lower response times) and after MiRB it's $135. Here is a link to said monitor.
  15. Here is an imgur album comprised of a few cleaning your keyboard after a spill tips. Made by the /u/ripster55 himself. http://imgur.com/a/9sHx7 Follow all the tips in that album and you should be fine in a few days. Granted I doubt you'll have a lot of those cleaning tools handy. Good luck cleaning your keyboard nevertheless

  17. This website describes what the internet would be like without net neutrality. http://jointhefastlane.com/ Basically, think of it as equality to all websites. If Verizon and Comcast had it their way, they would throttle our connections to things like Youtube, Netflix, and other bandwith-hogging websites. In order to get our full connection speeds that we're paying for, we will instead have to pay extra money to get equal bandwith to those sites, or to 'have a fast lane'. e.g. Verizon might cap all connections to youtube to 500kb/s unless you paid extra to have that unlocked. Net neutrality is very important to us consumers of media. We need to be backing this.
  18. Javascript, jQuery, and HTML can all be learned from codecademy.com - however you'll have to learn SQL somewhere else. Codecademy is free, and what I used to learn Ruby. It is a fair bit of reading, (since all of the tutorials are written in text) but I can safely say that you'll remember what you're doing since it is giving you things to code and allowing you to try them yourself before you are able to move on. It ensures that you have safely mastered a concept before moving onto another, more difficult one. Personally I would have loved to learn C++ on codecademy, but unfortunately they don't offer it. I ended up having to learn a vast majority of it from random youtube tutorials (like bucky, aka theNewboston) and a few other Udemy courses. Good luck on your web development adventure.
  19. I'll just leave this here to contribute to the argument.
