  1. I was suggesting that using 8GB dimms are better.
  2. Why did you regret it? I thought about just the 4770 as well and not the K. Did you find that the performance was lacking compared to the price?
  3. This is exactly why I don't understand when users recommend 8GB of RAM for new builds. Usually people get 2x4 GB sticks and lock them themselves out of a better/cheaper upgrade path.
  4. I have an LGA 775 box left over. I might turn it into a router, but i wouldn't count on the performance being good enough for much else.
  5. NZXT - Sentry Mix 2 It's functional, and it looks good.
  6. Sennheiser headphones are THE best.
  7. I have one of those. The software on the website is very poor. There are especially problems when you plug it into a USB 3.0 port. I have the logitech stuff installed, but I just use other programs for recording though.
  8. When do you start getting diminishing returns on your fan cooling solution? Dat Avatar Doe
  9. Do your power saving settings turn off usb devices after a certain amount of time elapses?
  10. So if you visit an open website, you have to pay them to view it? I don't think we want to live in that world. The paradigm is just broken. What if a post forum got revenue based on the number of registered users? That happens right? Would it be wrong to view a forum without registering an account first? What if a graphics card review is spread over 10 pages and the website gets paid based on clicks. Would it be wrong to skip straight to the conclusion and not view all of individual benchmark pages. What if a weekly video podcast has a sponsor segment at the beginning and middle of the video. Would it be wrong to turn the volume down during those segments? What if I clicked on the time stamp just after the sponsor segment?
  11. Who am I stealing from? What am I stealing? What do I have in my possession now that I have stolen it?
  12. I respect your decision to support the websites that you like. But I take issue with the notion that people who use Ad block are stealing. I will take a more affirmative stance on this. I think that Linus Media Group and other similar sites are getting exploited via "free advertising" for companies. I will explain this as concisely as I can. An ad on my browser has some arbitrary value for advertisers. Let's say $0.01. Let's say every time you load a page with a FRACTAL DESIGN banner on it, Linus Tech Tips get's $0.01. SOME OF YOU SEE WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS... Me as a user on this site is ENOUGH. Companies receive dirt cheap advertising from sites such as this one. I understand that the way the system works that Linus Media Group doesn't get "credit" from it, but maybe they damn well should. If someone posts in the case and power supply forums, "suggest a silent case to me", how many people are going to say "Define R4?". That to me, is worth more than any banner or jpg. How many users have their PC specs posted in their signature? That's a lot of free plugs for Intel and NVIDA. Does the site get credit for that? Any paradigm used to justify Ads that can be blocked by Ad block as a necessity can be utterly shattered. They are the equivalent of showering leaflets in a car parking garage. And you accuse users of STEALING???
  13. I don't know about that. At the moment, $160 gets you a card that can play most titles at "high" settings. In the event that NVIDIA releases an "870" in Q4 2014 you'd have an easier time selling the 750ti for 75% of what you paid for it and getting a brand new card. I can tell that you're happy with your GTX 770, but it doesn't make sense to buy one at the moment if you are interested in the next series of cards, and money is an object for you.
  14. What are you doing that 4gb aren't enough for you? I wouldn't listen to people who say that 8GB is enough. It's more about what you are doing or what you may be doing in the future.
  15. I don't fully understand Star Citizen myself, but I do understand that AAA titles are only going to become more CPU intensive over time and the 4 cores and hyperthreading aren't going to hurt, right?
  16. I think you should be more concerned with "Battlefield 5" or whatever the next game might be that you will want to play. I'm not saying that you should get the 4770k because of unreleased games.... wait... no, that's exactly what I'm saying. We would hate for you not to be able to play Star Citizen at Ultra because you got a 4670 and not a 4770
  17. I agree. However, the implementation of ads on the internet is something that needs reform. Your live advertisements on the WAN show, for example, are similar to television and live radio ads. These forms of advertisements are empirically effective and are accepted by the consumer. Effective in the sense that when you talk about squarespace or hot spot shield in your own voice it has more impact than a banner or pop up. It is accepted in the sense that the consumer doesn't feel that it is incongruous with the experience that they want to have when they tune it. Blocking ads is something that is applied to a browsing experience, not just a particular website. Users don't know what kind of ads a particular site they are linked to will have. Additionally, users don't know that ad implementation on a site is going to be consistent on a day to day basis. It is too much to expect. people to "whitelist" out of the goodness of their heart. Ads use unknown resources that are already paid for (in most cases) by the user. Think about a browser like LYNX (anyone here remember that?). By virtue of it's text based nature, all images are eliminated. One can not say then that users shouldn't use that browser because it is damaging to certain website's revenue. I don't like the line of discussion that suggests that blocking ads is in any way similar to piracy. I could go on for a while and make little sense, but the TLDR version would be: I'm not against ads. I just believe they need to be implemented in a way that the consumer accepts. Thus the onus is on the marketing department of a company to solve that problem. That is why they get paid after all. It is also why some ads cost more money than others to implement. Some of them are of higher quality than others.
  18. That isn't an apt analogy, but I think we both agree that blocking ads isn't intrinsically bad. I'm just going to say it. Pop up advertisements and banners are just lazy advertisement. It's not my responsibility to perpetuate that usage model by "allowing" ads when I have the option not to. Appealing to my idea of "viewer loyalty" does nothing but conflate the issue. If you are a for-profit business it is your job to compel me to consume your content.... period. Being picky about the avenue that I take to do that is ridiculous. If advertisement revenue via clicks/pop ups/etc isn't getting you there, then a different model is required.
  19. Johnny Depp has priority over everyone in my opinion.
  20. I take issue with any user on this site that asserts, "if you use some type of ad block utility, then you are a lesser person". It's arrogant, hypocritical, and flat out inaccurate. No one on the internet has the obligation to view content they deem "irrelevant" to them in order to get to the content they would like to view/consume. Exercising that choice makes them no less "good" than any other user.
  21. Get a 750ti while you wait for the next series of GPUs. Problem solved. Problem staying solved.
  22. Damn. The forum came through for you! It brings a tear to my eye.
  23. USB driver issue? Your last shutdown, did Windows install updates?
