  1. Although some people already do it, Its nice to have the end date of the sales in the thread titles.
  2. I would guess faster than a 660. Maybe 660 ti territory. I mean a 650 Ti boost is almost as fast as a 660 (although to be fair its the same chip with locked down cores).
  3. Battlefield 4. Still crashes and Idk why. Usually crashes when paused in campaign mode or when im at a gun vault thingy looking through guns to change too. Haven't tried online much since I feel discouraged. weird thing is the game never crashes if I'm constantly on the move without pausing.
  4. Wasn't Windows 7 and 8 compared by Linus and windows 8 actually had a better minimum fps in games (on average)? I assume same holds true for 8.1 and if gaming is better on 8/8.1 then that alone is a deal breaker for me!
  5. I believe this is the article I read. Its a good read to anyone who wants to get a better idea of how frames work without going into super detail (although still not a short read) http://amo.net/NT/02-21-01FPS.html
  6. Movies stay at a constant 24 fps so it gives the illusion that it isnt laggy and they also use many tricks like motion blur. if you compare a movie in 24 fps and the same movie at 60 you will see the difference. Kinda like buying a regular dvd and the Blue ray version. Also as someone said before humans dont see in frames and yes we can see the difference in frame rates on a monitor. 30 - 60 - 90 - 120 will always look different and smoother as the higher the number goes and Im willing to bet that no matter how high the number goes we humans will always be able to tell the difference. Really I think its just what ever looks good to us looks good to us so if your happy with 30 stick with 30 or if you want 60 aim for 60.
  7. Its impossible to say how many frames a human can see because that's not how things work. I remember looking this up a while back but I totally forgot exactly how it worked (it was a late a.m thing and I was just curious) The way a monitor works and the way the human brain and eyes work is different.
  8. I run MSI GTX 650 ti Boost twin Frozr 2GB Cards in SLI and they dont create much heat. When I bought them I was actually in the market for a single strong card but they where on an incredible sell of 120$ each (after rebate) on newegg so I got 2. This was also before the nvidia price drops but even then I still paid about 260$ for 770 like performance. These cards overclock well too. To me going SLI is a good alternative to buying a single high end card. I.E buying a second 760 instead of getting a 780 or 780 ti will be much cheaper and give you similar performance. It all depends on Power consumption, price, and heat though. I always try to find best price for performance but heat/power is a big factor.
  9. I was hesitant too but last time I RMA'd a broken cooling kit and they said I broke it since the radiator vents where bent weird (didnt tell them anything). It actually came that way...so I had to call them to argue with them. jajlkajldjaldajda now im worried
  10. Tried different ram with CPU but it still doesnt post. Also tried removing gpus and only having the mobo + cpu + ram plugged in and same thing. Pretty sure its CPU so im getting RMA ready on New Egg. Iron Egg guarantee gives me until Jan 31 which is good. Only problem is the clamps where the CPU locks was tight on the mobos I tried and its a little scratched where it clamps down. I emailed them to see if its still ok to send in so im hoping they aren't jerks about it lol.
  11. So Im pretty sure my cpu died on me and I dont know the reason. I tried different motherboards, ram, cases, PSU, unplugging Drives etc. PC wont post and just turns on and reboots. I narrowed it down to the only part I cant test which is the CPU (No spares). My Asus Maximus VI Hero gives me Q Codes 13, 15 and then 03 really quick before it reboots (no post) and manual says 13 means Pre - Memory CPU Initialization is started, 15 is Pre - Memory System agent Initialization is started and 3 is System agent Initialization before Microcode loading. I have no idea what the hell those mean lol. I was wondering if you guys can give me some insight as to what these codes translate to with the information given...in simple terms. Ill post my setup below and help is appreciated! CPU: i7 4770k Case: NZXT Phantom 530 PSU: Corsair cx750m Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero Ram: Corsair Vengeance 1600 cas9 2x4GB GPU: SLI GTX 650 TI Boost Twin Frzr III Drives: 128GB Agility 4 SSD + 2x 2TB Seagate Barracudas OS - Windows 8.1 Oh and everything is within 2 months old.
  12. I was on a budget and was gonna buy a 760 and SLI later but the 650 ti boosts where on an incredible sale. 120$ each after rebate. They where a steal! I couldnt resist and after overclocking they perform quite well. and to stay on Topic 7/10 to the person above me. Thats a really good budget build.
