Wh isn't Watts/Hours, It's Watts*Hours (or 3600 Joules, 1 Watt second = 1 Joule). Wh a measure of energy storage, not power draw. Power is measured as Watts (Watts = Volts*Amps, where for consumer devices the voltage is constant and the amps go up or down based of of how many Watts/power draw your laptop needs). To get how many watts your laptop consumes you need to look at TDP (Typical Power Draw) for your laptop, then multiply that by how long you're going to be drawing that power to get how much energy storage you need. We can get your average watt draw while on battery based off of how long your laptop lasts with it's battery's energy storage, but when you plug in the laptop you might end up using far more energy per hour due to losses and because your laptop might be less power conservative while plugged in. Assuming your laptop actually last 15 hours using 83 Wh of storage that means you have a TDP of around 5.5 Watts. if you want to run your 5.5 Watt laptop for a full work week (40 hours) you just multiply watts * hours to get Wh so 5.5*40=220Wh of storage. This is a bare minimum though, you would definitely need more than that especially if you want it with any sort of reliability and planning for degradation of the battery. I would probably double that number and say that you need 450 Wh, I would suggest maybe a bit more than that to be extra safe. Also make sure your source can provide at least 2.5 amps at 100V, as that's the listed input on your power supply.

How does the VRAM affect performance for the GPU? I went with the 3080ti (laptop) because I wanted it's 16gb of VRAM, typically I keep a laptop for around 5 years before getting a different one so I want to make sure it's as future proof as possible. the 4070 (laptop) as I understand has about equivalent performance to the 3080ti (laptop) but half the VRAM (8gb).

I mean you can try, I'd stress test it with your finger on the off switch to make sure it can handle it. also you can put one of your case fans in for the CPU fan, even if the pins don't match in number that just means you lost PWM, which is definitely suggested you don't go without, but you can if you want and with better results than lots of case airflow with no fan.

I am a college student in for Computer Science, and currently I'm looking to change my setup to better adjust to what I want. currently all my classes are online, but i want this setup to last until the end of college (3 years). My current setup is: - A desktop with a ryzen 5 1600 and 1060 6gb https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MZZsnH - Gigabye Aero 15x v8 with an i7 8750H and a 1070 Max-Q - Galaxy S9 phone In particular I need four things that my current setup isn't netting me 1. longer battery life, the laptop lasts 4 hours on average, a lot of the time less even with power saver settings on. I want at least 8 hours. 2. cooler mobile device, the laptop is really hot, again even with battery optimizations 3. the ability to write with a device pen, one of my friends swapped with me because they needed GPU power for one of their projects, and they had a 2-in-1 with a pen that was a game changer for me. 4. smaller device, desk space was smaller than I thought it would be going into my first year and I need to keep these things: 1. Windows, some of my classes require programs that only work on that operating system 2. gaming on 1080p medium/low setting 60fps or greater capability, hopefully for the next 3 years on the go and at home 3. Linux Dual Boot 4. Num-pad is helpful but not required, it allows my to more easily input some special characters and helps for data input as I'm quite proficient with the num-pad and can use it quickly without looking at it. 5. as much of my money as possible so I looked into the options and the only device I could find that sort of worked was the surface book 3 15" with i7 and 1660ti, but that fails at price, with the min spec being $2300 and being very optimistic I could sell my desktop for $500 profit and my laptop for $1000 profit which would put be $800 under minimum spec. It is also bigger than I wanted at 15" and has no num-pad So instead I think I'm going to sell my desktop, hopefully around $500 (probably less, selling used is a bitch) and buy the Galaxy Tab S6 lite for around $250 brand new from Samsung with student discount and Cash back from rakuten/wikibuy/credit card (total 11%, though I don't think rakuten and wikibuy stack which would be 7%). That means that I would have to lug around two devices, totaling around 10 pounds once you account for cases, power brick, mouse and battery pack for the tablet, but it'll all be in a backpack so I'm not too worried. Reasons I pick this is: 1. It doesn't take up much desk space, the entire device including bezels is around an 11.4" diagonal and it can be in my lap much better than a laptop (Ironic). 2. combined with the laptop it fits all my criteria, in fact I gain money if I sell my desktop 3. I can charge it with the battery bank I already carry around for my phone (~24Wh pack, max single port charging speed of 18W). 4. The only things that the tablet can't do are game, windows apps, effectively multitask (it has 4gb of RAM), and long form typing (without a Bluetooth keyboard, which I won't be getting) Now I'd like to hear criticisms and alternatives just to make sure there isn't some fatal flaw to this idea, in particular maybe a 2 in 1 I missed instead of the suggested setup that would be better, or maybe there's some feature missing from the tablet I haven't realized I needed, maybe something I could do with my phone like hook up a screen to it, or anything else, all responses are appreciated!

try booting in safe mode or in linux and see if it still crashes, I would try to find something to stress your system as well that works in safe mode (or something that stresses it in linux, which can be just like a benchmark or something). if it still crashes you probably have a hardware problem (which may just be a problem with drivers, so make sure those are up to date) and at that point you're probably boned without buying different parts unless you have a compatible working system you can test each part individually in. other than that with a fresh windows install the only "normal" problems I can think of is with the OS, or outdated/missing firmware (drivers, BIOS, etc). for the OS you can try rolling back to earlier versions (assuming you're up to date), and for firmware you can also try rolling back but that's usually inadvisable, especially for core firmware like BIOS, and I would instead just make sure it's up to date. on the hardware side make sure that your computer is really clean, and that all your coolers are working and getting proper airflow. other than that not sure that I can help that much, good luck.

@CPotter I mentioned this in a superchat during WAN show (Oct 4, 1:14:35, my phrasing was oof to be fair), but I think it'd be super cool for you guys to make a Halloween costume with infrared LEDs and reflector strips for when people take pictures/videos of that person (because those things would look invisible/normal respectively but under a camera sensor/flash it'd look significantly different than irl). Combined with a black morph suit with normal LEDs for looking cool in the dark I think it could make for a nice video right before/during Halloween. Plus I think this'd make a great segue into talking about how cameras work and how different conditions can effect your photos, and this doesn't work with all cameras cause some of IR light filters, and i think that this'd blow some peoples minds who didn't even know their cameras could do that. If anything those core ideas could make for a cool tech quickie. so this Plus plus Plus infrared lights in like a grid pattern that you could get to say anything which wouldn't be visible without a filter or a camera those lights like above (you can get a lot from "night vision" stuff on amazon or just them straight if you google "IR LED"), except hooked up to a costume in a grid pattern, with some being on and off acting like invisible pixels like:

Mordhau is okay, but I personally didn't super like it and returned it (reviewed overall positive, recent mixed) Anthem got ripped on but it's actually pretty good, it's just not balls to the wall amazing it was promised to be

I really like Dark Souls 3, and while it's multiplayer is still decently alive it's shaved down to almost nothing but try-hards and twinks, but it also makes a great singleplayer game if that's more your style, and I'd also be willing to play with you if you want/need any help. you can look at ChaseTheBro on YouTube for examples of recent multiplayer. And it's not as hard as most people make it out to be, I promise most of the problems people face is that they rush through the game miss/skip half the stuff and are 20 levels below recommended then get creamed by the higher level bosses. Other than that more traditional multiplayer games I'd suggest is Rocket League or Warframe, probably rocket league over Warframe tho cause you pay for Warframe with time and cosmetics, but mostly time it's as grindy or even more than Destiny. local multiplayer I'd recommend Crawl, super fun irl party game, but it doesn't have online in the game other than that there are tried and true games like CS:GO, Garry's Mod, RainbowSix, TeamFortress, most Battle Royales (Fortnite, PUBG, Apex), etc edit: and Minecraft, dat's good there are some good servers out there

Right, It doesn't include hidden files by default, which is why if you looked at my screenshot you can see I specifically included them in my search. The 8GB discrepancy might also be relevant, but that's not as important as the 114GB that is missing.
