  1. Wrong forum, servethehome would be better, but even then it's still not quite right.
  2. 2xP2415Q 125% scaling You might like this also http://lifehacker.com/fix-blurry-fonts-in-windows-10-with-this-utility-1734246822
  3. I'm glad you pointed this out as I have noticed that the recent LTT videos have been rushed and done without research. And you'll get the fans on here who defend him no matter what, saying things like, "it's comedy", "it's like TopGear". But what they don't seem to understand is when you have a large subscriber count and use words like "science" as you pointed out, or present videos in a more instructional format, It has to be properly researched. You shouldn't try to teach something that you saw on the internet and thought, "that's cool! I'll make a video on how to do this!", but don't fully understand yourself.
  4. I have an IPSec Site-to-Site with 2 other people and we run 6 domain controllers in total (2 per site), each of which is a DNS server that eventually forwards to Google DNS.
  5. Totally agree, I was saying for those that can't do it on the router or don't want to use stupid services like no-ip. Where no-ip or dyndns is usually the only options.
  6. Here's a scenario: Person X likes a YouTube presenter and his channel, and has subscribed. Person X notices that recent videos aren't great, they may be rushed or poorly researched. Person X criticizes the recent videos on the community forum, hoping they get better, so he and the presenter can both benefit. Person X meets an aggressive member that implies that he should go elsewhere, generally being disruptive. Person X does nothing wrong here. Figure out who is.
  7. Do you understand it? Because what you're saying is just pure common sense, it doesn't sound like you know much more than anyone else in this thread. I'd have to agree that the recent content seems less researched and planned. And just because the company may be operating in "less-than-ideal" conditions, does not mean that we can't/shouldn't criticize the content produced. Poor response honestly, I can't understand how you can say that. Linus isn't better than us, he is an ordinary human being, why do you put him on such a high pedestal? Is it impossible for him to have made a mistake and produced content that people aren't happy with? Because if he did, I'm sure he would want to rectify that as he is trying to produce content that people will watch and hopefully enjoy.
  8. I would say that you should learn more networking and server related stuff and then learn how to tackle this issue yourself. The school will monitor active connections and block things you make too many connections that they can't identify. You will have to evaluate the way they run their network and understand and know what will defeat their protections.
  9. Look on ebay for cheap arista switches, they are very cheap second hand and amazingly good. They can run VMs!
  10. If you want 10Gbit: Buy a 10Gbit switch Buy 10Gbit NICs Buy cables that support 10Gbit The only good thing you have is Cat7
  11. Helpful to point out that you don't need dyndns on the router, and most routers support a very small amount of providers. You can run a client on your PC, and if you own your own domain or get a free one from freenom, you can configure dyndns with cloudflare and subdomains.
  12. Honestly while I don't like the way you do the infrastructure in your company, it's none of my concern and I don't care. But when I saw the 10Gbit video where you tell the audience to set the NIC settings to be public IPs and different subnets, I realised that the video was done without much research. I mean you blame the network guy, but you made and presented the video, why would you make an instructional video on a subject you don't understand?
  13. And you know the vessel and youtube videos were replaced with ones that had correct subnetting
  14. The SFP transceiver is not capable of 10Gbit, SFP+ is however.
  15. This doesn't boost wireless or internet speeds guys, it is only connecting 2 computers together. It's not even a 10Gbit LAN in the traditional sense.
  16. So you're saying that clients are following Linus and breaking things? And you watch the videos to know what they messed up?
  17. For your training and benefit, please learn from other sources, Linus himself says he does not know.
  18. Any gigabit switch will do, seriously there is no reason to spend more if you have to hook up computers to a LAN.
  19. I agree with you entirely, only Wendell has shown a broad knowledge of science and technology from the TekSyndicate.
  20. I actually don't have an issue with those things, that doesn't bother me because it is comedic, and it's not instructional. But I have specific complaints like the Ubiquiti AirMax P2P, the title is "Long Distance Wi-Fi (Up to 25 KILOMETER range!?) " But to most that implies the standard WiFi implementation, so people are mislead to believe they can hook one up and their phone will have WiFi signal 25 kilometers away... Or the 10Gbit local network, which is actually just connecting 2 computers directly together, not a 10Gbit LAN as it would seem by title. And then the idea that he has to use a different subnet on each NIC on either end of the SFP+ cable, and uses public /16s to do it. And yes he did say that he knows no networking in the WAN show, but that video is almost a guide in presentation and apparently no prior research was done apart from asking some guy. Would Linus also make videos about a new GPU based on what some guy said and not do his own research? No I think not.
  21. Some of the videos are based on the flaky knowledge of the presenter. Some say Linus doesn't intend to do guides, but I'm sure Linus also does not intend to spread misinformation. So here is a short but sweet summary for those that don't seem to read the OP. No more click-bait titles Actually know what you are teaching! And my advice is to make EVEN BETTER server and networking videos that are more accessible to the viewers and with prior research done. Some of the arguments I simply don't understand are that Linus intends to do things the bad or wrong way., Linus DOES know what he's talking about when it comes to consumer PC gear, so what makes it different for things like networking or home servers? Why is it that I can trust Linus for GPU advice, but I would never listen to him when I set up my LAN or buy any networking gear or server hardware?
  22. Here is an analogy I think works pretty well. I don't know how to rebuild an engine from a car, so when I'm talking to someone about it, I don't act as if I know. I'll also never instruct anyone on how to do it. However I would document my experience of doing it if I have a fair idea of how to do it beforehand.
  23. I get that he doesn't do proper guides, then again he does seem keen on demonstrating things like connecting 2 computers together, but the specific parts of the video which are to INSTRUCT are completely inaccurate or just wrong.
