  1. Roku is amazing. You can download all the network apps and use a friends DirectTV login and boom get all of the channels. Or you can pay for DirectTV, PSTV, Fubio, HULU Live TV and list goes on.
  2. https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16889007642 or https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PP49764/ref=twister_B07PQBF9RK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 So i am looking for a new TV. I really do not need one RIGHT now because I am in Afghanistan and simply 1080p doesn't bother my 3 year old watching cartoons. I get back some time in September and noticed these two are on sell. We have the LG SK10Y 5.1.2 Channel Hi-Res Audio Sound Bar with Dolby Atmos soundbar already and I AM NOT AN AV BUFF type guy so please forgive me on my ignorance if I say something stupid. Considerations: $1,800 budget I was thinking of sticking with LG because of the drivers that push the soundbar and TV were engineered in the same location. So my thinking is they would mesh slightly better then if I paired a QLED from Samsung with my LG soundbar. Concerned with OLED burn in, not a huge gamer on the TV perhaps when the kid get older, but it wont be marathon gaming where a game is displayed all day. Most my gaming is PC based, so please only respond if you know the metrics of the burn in, not if you just read that its possible. I.E sure its possible for OLED to burn in, but would the average person really be effected by this? or is it really only a concern with big gamers that have a HUD up all day. Should I wait because I wont be watching the TV until probably October. My concern is would this be a deal that is to good to pass and I should jump on it, have my wife just keep the box in the bed room, or wait until cyber Monday for another sell? or do you have other recommendations on a TV
  3. Thanks I can't believe I didn't think of a NUC... I have the damn things running all my TV's in my house lol..
  4. If i was putting the ram straight up and down I would just use desktop ram. As for atrocious price we are not concerned with this as of yet. I have no clue why i forgot about a NUC...
  5. This was the board I was looking at, but I was wishing it supported laptop ram to reduce the height of the ram and the prehaps remove the USB so the ethernet is on the board. I was thinking of reaching out to asrock to see what they can do custom, because this is the closest board I have seen that I like.
  6. What are we doing? Collecting massive amounts of sensor data. Do you want PCIE or Sata M.2? I believe I would need Sata M.2, PCIE would be the card in a PCI slot correct? X86 is not important. M.2 I was looking at the Samsung 960 Pro which I believe should average 1.66GB/s. We will only be transferring a single large file. The requirement for write speed though today is only 260MB/s for continuous recording of data. We want the horse power when we offload the data. The computer itself will run software to compile all the data into a single file format. Right now we are looking to test a requirement, to see what we would like to do is possible, then reach out to a developer to create something that is capable of the environmental requirements we need it to sustain. The end all be all is to accomplish this in a device the size of a cell phone.
  7. I am looking for a MITX board that supports M.2 and laptop ram. I need a very low profile board, preferably one with an embedded processor or CPU with low profile heat sink. So the IO ports on the back must also be very minimal also. Second I am looking for a board that could support a battery. We can mod this board for proof of concept, but if there is already a board that supports this. That would be great. I have been looking into PI's but I need the M.2 for data rate. I saw they have an M.2 kit for the PI, but that goes over USB 2.0 which would not work.
  8. Yeah, its 3440x1440p... "only a 100hz screen" I don't think this resolution comes with anything faster then 100hz. I believe the onlything faster then 100hz comes in 2560x1440p. That and I was able to find a Viotek GN34C for $515 new from newegg a few weeks ago. It looks like they raised the prices after the sell ended though. However, I love the Viotek, it is an amazing monitor. The stand is mediocre and the interface for settings is average, however, the panel is excellent and if you can get past being married to the stand they supple with no upgrable stands then its an outstanding monitor. It suites everything for me. As for 100hz I play RPG's, casual shooters, and mobas. So really 100hz is perfect for me, I am not into competitive shooters like CSGO. I play Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch and very casually so 144hz or faster in my opinion for me is pointless. I get more out of having more real-estate on the screen.
  9. Yeah for gaming I don't see a big difference between 4000 series to 8000 series processors. I don't feel that spending money on a CPU, DDR4 Ram, and a MOBO is going to change my current gaming experience. I already game at 1440p ultrawide with 100hz so its not worth spending $700 to upgrade it all. Now if I was still working from home and processing massive amounts of images and needed it for work flow. Then I would upgrade my rig. However for gaming, I have yet to come across a game that challenges my cpu to the point where it effects my gaming experience. There maybe titles out there a one or two, however, I don't play them. Always base your upgrades on your needs not because your system is being out bench marked.
  10. Yeah, but HONESTLY how many people want to have a mic on their desk? I love my Game One's I can easily flip the mic up to mute it, if I want to talk to my wife in game, they sound amazing. I am sure you can get a better set up this way, but for me HONESTLY could I tell the difference, probably not. Perhaps you can really pick out the difference, but I couldn't. Sennheiser Game Ones are extremely high quality and great for gaming. If I was doing a some form of pod cast, streaming, or something where a high value mic is better then sure. My game one gets the job done and I love them... The only complaint I have is from so much wear, the ear foam things ripped, but my wife sewed it together for me.
  11. Sure there maybe a bottle neck, but the question that I have for you? Are any of your games dipping below 75fps? If not then honestly its not time to upgrade. I am running a 4770k non OC with a 1080ti on 1440p ultrawide 100hz getting 115 to 140 fps on average. I play at 100fps, so until I see my frames averaging below 100fps I will stick to my setup or consider overclocking. My low is 80fps also.... I had people say my 4770k is a bottle neck, im sure it is.... but my rig, bottle neck or not.... It gets the job done.
  12. I can confirm.... I have a Bequiet Rock Pro 3 and looking to change it out, the cooler is great, but such a pain in the ass and not wanting to deal with it for my upgrade.
  13. We have all done that to get to where we are all here today. I am 33 years old it didn't happen over night. Took working 15 hour days while going to school and studying for certs. Its a grind thats for sure... good luck and hope you land the job your degree is based off of...
  14. Just picked up my 1080ti... Love it
  15. Issue with making that much money is taxes lol. I remember thinking once I get past this number, then I am set... Then you have kids, different expenses, high taxes, and then you realize you loose 30k a year to the fed.
  16. I just bought the Ziotec 34 ultrawide 1440p 100hz and love it.... Only thing I would improve would be the stand, but for 515$ I will take it.
  17. I have a 1080ti with a ziotec 100hz 1440 ultra wide and average 115 fps on ultra settings for most games. So it just depends what you want out of your ultrawide, a 1070 will get you 60 fps but what hz is your monitor, id say save up or find a used 1080ti.
  18. Thanks, they work fine. After i fixed it, just annoying the amount of time that was wasted for something that should have been a simple job. The LEDs i got though work great, ill be buying more this week.
  19. Aesthetically I am very please 10 out of 10 Quality Control 0 I have to say I am VERY disappointed in the quality and control of this product. I guess you can say my troubleshooting could have been better, however, I did assume that an extension done by a company would have been pinned properly. I spent hours pulling my entire PC apart to do some cable management with their cable extensions. I went to power on my computer and NOTHING... Ok well I swapped cases, perhaps I didn't install my MOBO right pulled it all out and still nothing... Tested my power supply via paper clip and got fans.... mmmm what could it be... So I undid all of my cable management and took out everything from the case. I made sure that there was no screws that fell and caused a short.... List went on. Kind of my fault for not looking at the extension first, I am face palming myself for that because I know better, but upon inspecting the cable I looked closer and one of the entire cables fell out of the connector... WTF..... So I pushed it back in and then added some pressure to each one of the cables to find out that EVERY cable was not secure. After I pushed each cable, I conducted the paper clip test and.... FANS!!! so I connected everything back up for the quadrillian time... Also the Fractal Meshify IS NOT THE CASE YOU WANT FOR CABLE EXTENSIONS.... There is not enough room to tuck away all that extra cable. So it was not easy to deal with at all. Would I buy from them again... Yes, only because I feel where we are in cable moding company's they are one of the better vendors. However, I would would EVERYONE to double check their cables before taking the time to get them all pretty and installed.
  20. Yeah HDMI over Ethernet takes two Ethernet runs to a converter. It works pretty well and for console gaming I don't mind it. Since I really only play my PS4 when I just want to lay in bed.
  21. only bad thing about this in my opinion is the SCDkey version of windows. I can see a younger guy taking advantage of this, but I use to use these for friends builds back in the day and some of the times I have had people have issues with them a year down the road or so. Then I get a phone call saying fix this please for me I can't work. Where I'd rather tell them to pony up 65 more dollars so I don't get that annoying phone call in the future.
  22. This is basically what I use my laptop.... Not saying get a laptop but these are my mobile specs on a 6 year old laptop. AMD A8 16gig gskill ram not sure the speed 250gig Samsung EVO SSD notsure the model but its 5 years old No GPU, just using the APU I have yet to run into ANY problems with this laptop and find no reason to even think about replacing it, when I just use it for browsing on the sofa, word processing, league of legends, and remote access to my servers. I am a crazy browser I will have tons of tabs open on this thing, youtube streaming, different forums, etc no issue. I just run webroot and CC Cleaner on it and never install bullshit I don't need on it. 23. The first thing you need to ask yourself is what do you need it to do? I heard plex mentioned.... Are you going to be transcoding multiple videos at one time? how many people will be streaming off your plex server at any given time? I currently run a gigabyte brix A8 processor as my plex server/sabnzb server. Not ideal, but it works great for transcoding one video for remote stream and for watching movies at home. All of my data is stored on a Drobo5n which has worked great for the past years and never had an issue with the drobo. What I like about the brix is that it is form factor so I just have it mounted on the back of my monitor and use VNC to access it from my gaming computer to manage anything I need.
