Why does Linus use Asus mobos?
Astralify replied to Antimatter's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Nobody is great, but personally I am a gigabyte guy. I like their stability and durability, their VRMs and features. And no one beats asrock in featres-for-the-price. I haven't had much experience with MSI, but that's because nobody imports them over here.- 25 replies

Why does Linus use Asus mobos?
Astralify replied to Antimatter's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I speak from experience. And I'm not saying they are completely trash. There is nothing wrong in liking asus, it's just they are often not as good as the other manufacturers.- 25 replies

Well as a start, they offer less features for higher price than other manufacturers, some of their implementations (like audio, vrm etc) are poor even on their expensive lines, as well as taking away things like sata ports to save money (but at the same time they put fancy heatsinks paintjobs and what not). And did I mention poor quality control? There a more things, but as I've said, overrated and overpriced is the simplest description for asus. Anyway....- 25 replies

Actually asus boards are highly overrated, and simply not as good as other manufacturers. Asus also spends faar more money on marketing and PR (instead on QC) than anyone else, which is the reason why it appears that all tech reviewers are using/preferring them.- 25 replies

US Senate drafts most disastrous anti-crypto bill ever

Oh come on people.... They are not ignorant. They know exactly what they're doing. -

Why do you think they're doing it? To prevent people from rebelling/organizing in the future, when things get even more ridiculous. So freedom. Much demo. -

Most likely. Is the radiator warm when you touch it?
-
You will notice it at some point, and even if that happens, you are still passively cooling it, so you can't damage your CPU. Returning it might be the best solution. I suggest you buy something from noctua, if you don't mind the esthetics. The NH-U14S is a perfect match for that 4790k (I have that combo btw). Or an NH-D15S if you plan on upgrading to 2011 in the future. They both shit on almost any AIO cooler out there, both in terms of noise and performance.

Get rid of that AIO water cooler junk and put a proper air cooler. It will never fail you.

I have a lead on a Sapphire HD7970 Dual-X GPU for $100
Astralify replied to Euagh420's topic in Graphics Cards
I'm not very comfortable with that 350W PSU. And you plan on overclocking, so it's a no go. 7970 for 100 is a steal though. -
Should I upgrade my CPU and which one should I get ?
Astralify replied to Tthedj122's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
We are not talking about buying new here. ~300€ is a good price in EU for that CPU. And it has advantage out of the box. 4.4GHz vs 3.7-3.9 on the 4790 and xeon (not sure the exact boost speeds of these too) the xeon is a good idea if he could find one for below 200€ though. -

Then you are golden with that one. It is worth it, and he doesn't need to overclock it, since it is already high enough at 4.4GHz. And it will work perfectly with his mobo. -

I would try to find a second hand 4790k. You will be set with this CPU for a long time. Buying new CPUs from intel is not worth it if you are in EU.
