480% improvement, wow is the 550 Ti ever a piece of shit
-
Still, that thing is the only reason that I became a real PC user. Otherwise, I would have been stuck with the GT 520 that I had purchased years ago - and that wouldn't have been able to let me do CUDA/compute tasks. I might not have ever shown up on LTT without it, seeing that nVIDIA also still had driver support for the GTX 550 Ti at the time...
-
@OrbitalBuzzsaw I went on and sent the Friend Request - feel free to accept whenever
-
Oooooof. The oldest hardware I currently have on hand is a 2600k and all of my spare GPUs are Pascal or Maxwell right now
-
Oooo exciting! I love new goodies.
I'm still torn between what monitor to get on Black Friday. Ultrawide or 27" with GSync.
-
@dizmo I'd go to your local Micro Center and pick up an Acer KG1 (1440p, 144HZ, FreeSync, good VA panel) for $300 - and you don't even have to wait!
-
@OrbitalBuzzsaw Except for the fact that getting to Microcenter would cost me....probably around $700
I'd also want to make the most of my GPU and GSync would do that for me. Tempted to see if it makes as much of a difference as people claim.
-
@dizmo It does not. Why would it be expensive to go to an MC? Did you end up moving to Britain?
-
Depends on where you live @OrbitalBuzzsaw
-
@TopHatProductions115 Currently making preparations to move back to Britain (American by birth and accent but I've spent a good portion of my life in England) so I'm acutely aware
-
@OrbitalBuzzsaw Haha, no, but I live in northern Canada. Flight to Chicago $400, health insurance $50, food for the day $25, tax on the monitor $30, transportation $50, duty $20. Ok not quite $700, but $570 is pretty close.
-
@dizmo Okay, fair, but I'd still go and check whatever local stores you have, they often have better deals than stores
