  1. Thanks seems strange to me too, most of all that it only happens the first time but never once I turn off and unplug monitors, I will see if a can return or claim warranty and will let you know how things go, Thanks again
  2. Thanks for the responses I've finally had time to carry out more testing, I'll try and explain whats happening in more detail, The first time pressing the power button the LED's and fans start but immediately turn off, except for the RGB LED's on the GPU which stay on (strange) Trying to press the power button again does nothing now I then turn it off at the wall, the LED's on the GPU are still on! (Stranger) so I think the only place this power can be coming from is the monitors, so unplugging these gets rid of the light, Then switching on at the wall and pressing the power button and plugging in the monitors works as normal with no issues! As advised tried with my monitor plugged into the motherboard I/O this start as normal everytime, making me think it maybe the GPU To make sure it's the GPU I take out the 980ti and replace it with my old trusty 660 and I get the same issue... So I would guess it seems to be a motherboard getting some kind of backround power from the monitors through PCIE problem? If so hopefully its covered under warranty with MSI and I can get a replacement Anything further you can think of?
  3. It posts it just happens intermittently maybe 50% of the time when turning on the PC, once in to windows it works fine, I suspect the Graphics card as for some reason turning off on at the wall and unplugging the monitors from it and restarting seems to solve the issue,
  4. So I recently upgraded my 2500k for a 9700k which is great but sometimes when turning on my PC the led's flash on the fans start to move for just half a second before shutting off, Then I cant turn it on again until weirdly I turn it off at the wall and unplug the displays from the graphics card, which took me a while to find out, Obviously I'd rather not do this when I turn my PC on. Does anyone know whats happening? did I damage my card when rebuilding my PC? and is there a fix? Its a 980ti G1 gaming drivers are up to date,
  5. Thanks for the replies guys, I am definitely going to wait till zen. and I definitely want a new monitor. I'm just hoping monitors like the acer predator x34 come down a little in price.
  6. Good day to you all, I have just got a lovely 980ti for my rig. I am still runnig a 2500k which is obviously getting a bit old but i don't think I could justify upgrading this yet. Even if i got an enthusiast series CPU I don't think I would get much more out of it in most games. I am wondering if anyone is in a similar position who maybe has upgraded and if you think its worth it or if I should wait till something better comes along or mine gives up. (its been running this overclock for years now) Thanks for reading,
  7. So this link appeared on my facebook feed. What do you think? interesting that this industry seems to often lead the way in, using new technologies.
  8. Fair enough I have an i3 to game also, but i still think the older i5 beats it.
  9. go to settings>>battery usage what are your biggest battery drains?
  10. €400 ish, 4TH gen i3 will not be as good as second gen i5 in my book lacking in cores and not enough improvement have been made since gen 2. However the haswell remake pentium looks great check out linus' vid on haswell remakes.
  11. on cpu and gpu and my point about expansion still stands what graphics cards are you gunna be running
  12. Hmmm not sure, but in the bios try booting off the ssd and hopefully it'll boot into windows 8 then just update it and delete the other one.. Or format the ssd and use a hard drive cloning/ssd boot setup tool to transfer stuff across?
  13. lots of psu calculators dont take into account overclocking and also if you get a larger psu gives you further room to expand in future, go for like 750w psu.
  14. Hi there, Ram first, I spent a bit more on not ugly ram and am a bit annoyed coz you can hardly see it past every other cool thing. Also I think latency is more of a boost than clock speed is on performance but both are negligable as far as overclocking the ram I don't know too much but I've heard on z97 you can push ram pretty far. Monitor I personally prefer a high res ips panel but I don't do loads of fps games, but I'd rather play 1440p at 60fps with great colours and contrast than 1080p or 1440p at 120fps on a tn panel personal preference i guess. Id get a 4k dell ips monitor for that much.
  15. Get a 4690k instead and a z97 motherboard should cost much more at all, other than that its all good.
  16. I have 4g on vodafone and will say the following about it: 1. I was happy with he speed of H+ and don't notice a massive speed difference when browsing but I do when downloading apps. 2. The frequency 4g signal works on is better at traveling through thick walls and the like, so I get 4g where previously I couldn't get H+ like at certain spots in my workplace.
  17. he's only running wow a 750ti should be fine for his needs.
  18. I would just get one of these http://www.ncixus.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=94339&vpn=GTX750TI-OC-2GD5&manufacture=ASUS&promoid=1264 see if it solves your problem. It should, if your still not happy come back
  19. His processor is already better than that.. Try getting a gtx 750 or 750ti and you might find an ssd a really nice think to have aswell.
  20. then no the ipod wont limit it that im aware. Also I have a pair of sennheiser momentum on-ear headphones which are my go to out and about headphone I think they are fantastic for the price.
  21. Looks like a good build, and I have almost 3TB of storage used on my pc now with all my steam games and movies.
  22. 1. whats your price range. 2. Ipod touch audio will probably be as good as any other output unless you have say an external DAC.
  23. Kind of irrelevant as he won't max out either of the cards memory. If I was watercooling I'd get a 290x, because I would feel like the water is more worthwhile because it usually runs so hot but performance will still be similar .
