  1. Hi, I could use some help as I have run out of ideas. I have a Supermicro X8DTH-if-bm003 with 2 X5687 Running BIOS Rev: 2.1 I have 6x8GB DDR3 1333 PC3-10600 ECC REGISTERER The DIMM slots I have is P1-DIMMA1 to A3 P1-DIMMB1 to B3 and P2-DIMMA1 to A3 P2-DIMMB1 to B3 The manual I found, I understood to populate the RAM as P1-DIMMA1 P1-DIMMA2 P1-DIMMA3 P2-DIMMA1 P2-DIMMA2 P2-DIMMA3 Just to note that A slots are Blue and B slots are Black. When I load into the BIOS the system memory is 24GB but when start a Memtest86 it shows 24GB but when you show DIMM info I can see that all the slots are populated I have trying a number if of configuration but with no luck, I have tested each stick of RAM and they are OK populate the RAM as P1-DIMMA1 P1-DIMMA2 P1-DIMMA3 P2-DIMMA1 P2-DIMMA2 P2-DIMMA3 populate the RAM as P1-DIMMA1 P1-DIMMB1 P1-DIMMA2 P2-DIMMA1 P2-DIMMB1 P2-DIMMA2 populate the RAM as P1-DIMMA1 P1-DIMMA2 P1-DIMMA3 P2-DIMMB1 P2-DIMMB2 P2-DIMMB3 when I run dmidecode -t memory i can see the stick in each populated slot. at this point I think that it is the MB or the bios. dmidecode -t memory # dmidecode 3.0 Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs. SMBIOS 2.6 present. 2. If the OS is shot, have you tried a live USB/CD and pulled the files that way you maybe able to boot and then mount the disk
  3. Just hanging around

  4. I agree, most of the time is is just cheap and for me my rig is not online 24/7 like a server
  5. I had a family member that did not know about bookmarks so every time they has a site they liked she was writing them down, her friend then told her that they was a note pad program. That was better then the physical notebook, but the day I showed her bookmarks started the day of almost daily calls for computer help, it was fun lol
  6. So I emailed the sales team at Netgate to see what they would say. I ask if they has any of the old logo pfSense stickers this is what they said "Yes, we actually have a ton of old logo stickers still. Please place an order online for (1) sticker (it will be for the new logo) and then let me know what your order number is so I can tweak your order for the old logo. " I would say if you want to have some of the old logos for later i would email sales and ask for some old stickers... before they are gone for good.
  7. My pfsense box lives in a Rosewill 2U Server Chassis RSV-2600 works well and matches the looks of my 4u server case
  8. This is disappointing as I did not see the logo change and the computer conferences this last year like Linux fest all had the old ones still. The hunt is now on I guess
  9. When this happens have you or can you run this "sudo service network-manager restart" Other info that can help what is the wifi hardware info "lspci -nnk | grep -A2 0280" (guessing that as it is a laptop you are on wifi) When you lose your Internet how do you get back online? Troubleshooting is always fun
  10. Have you made sure all your updated. you can use apt-get update and upgrade to do so this may help. Also as you are dual-boot do you have the same issues on windows?
  11. can you mount the HDD to another PC to see if it is still alive and did not die?
