  1. Update here. I've swapped out the thermal pads. My thermals have improved and so has my Framerate! Can't believe what 0.5mm difference in pads can do. Included photos of the 2mm and 1.5mm difference of pads when I swapped them out. The 2mm thin long one is the recommended size and height, but that was also replaced with a fresh 2mm pad. The rest are 1.5mm. Its so good to be back in the triple digits for watts. Games are stable now. Lesson learned, don't wing it.
  2. After some research I’ve found something which might be the issue or resulting in this issue. The thermal pads I’ve applied are different sizes to what is recommended to the manufacturer XFX specs. Recommended specs are: 1.5mm for the Memory and 2mm for the VRMS. A youtube video of my exact card shows this. I’ve applied 2mm Thermalgrizzly Pads for both the VRMS and the Memory. Could a 0.5mm difference in thickness in pads create issues between the die contact and heating? I’ve ordered the correct 1.5mm pads, they need 1-3 days to be shipped and received to me. I will drain the loop, disassemble and apply the correct sizes to see if these results in a fix. If not, my second option is to reattach the original fan shroud cooling and see if that fixes it. I will update this thread once I receive the thermal pads.
  3. Yep I agree. I know this is an isolated issue with the Card itself. I will attempt to plug in the fan shroud cable either tonight or tomorrow and report back. If I can’t reach the fan port I’ll have to drain the loop. Might as well then also check the pcb for any issues too. Good information though, never thought a simple fan plug could result into this. Here’s hoping this is the issue. Will get back to this thread on the results.
  4. When you refer to normal, are you referring to the power consumption? I haven’t tried this, no. Do you think that by having unplugged the fan shroud a failsafe has kicked in and limited the power consumption? This was never an issue before when I previously water-cooled. I will have to mention that the PSU, CPU and MOTHERBOARD are all new additions to the system. Could I have run into a issue here? Interesting.
  5. No this was never an issue before. The fan shroud was removed and the plug into the PCB was unattached. There are no overheating issues or fan fail safe warnings. The GPU was water cooled a while back too, no issues there.
  6. I've switched back to water cooling after a long hiatus. And I've run into an issue that I haven't experienced before. My GPU is drawing less power i.e. Watts than before, which has impacted the FPS in gaming. This is something I haven't experienced before. The GPU is a XFX THICC III 5700XT Ultra. I did switch out the old thermal pads for thermal grizzly, but I don't think that could cause any issues, as the PC powers on and there are no black screens / hangs / crashes. Google search on this issue only brings up how to lower power consumption, which doesn't directly deal with what I am experiencing. I'm using Hardware Monitor, MSI Afterburner and AMD Radeon to monitor the power consumption, which is driving me nuts. Even a full Furmark / Prime95 Test is not pushing past 60 watts of power consumption. Before, this use to be around the 200-255 watt mark. Specs: Ryzen 5 5600x CPU 32GB Corsair Ram 3600MHZ Ram XFX THICC III 5700XT Ultra (Owned for almost 5 years now) Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite Motherboard Power: Bequiet Straight Power 11 Gold 750 watt. What I've done so far to try and fix it: 1. Swapping out the previous VGA / PCIE. Before, it was one 8pin to two separate 6+2. Now its 2x 8pins to 6+2. 2. DDU Fresh Drivers / Rollbacks 3. Default Performance settings for the Card 4. Bios Update 5. Turned off / on Re-size Bar and AMD Smart Access Memory I'm just short of draining my water build and opening the Graphics Card to have a look if there is anything unusual. But I'm not sure that's the issue. Everything seems to running well, even as I type this. The issues are in multiple games I've tested over the last 2-3 Days. None of my games, with the lowest settings set, are able to crack 30fps minimum. I'm honestly boggled. Short of draining, reapplying paste and giving it another go, I might have to fork out a few thousand for a new GPU, (Australian Prices for GPUs are shocking) which I'm trying to avoid at all costs. Looking to see if the community has bumped into this issue. I feel like I've attacked multiple issue solving angles here. Not sure. Provide your input and I'll be happy to answer any questions / queries. I'll be checking this throughout the day too. Thanks for the Read!
  7. Hey Are there any alternatives to displaying my PC to my smart TV without routing a really long 10+ meter cable from my PC in my bedroom to my smart TV within the living room? Got some buddies coming over this week and thought I might try to get some co-op games going on the big screen. Yes, there is an option to move the PC from the bedroom to the Living room but not too sure on ripping perfect cable management under my desk / room. Simplest solution would be to route a HDMI cable, but a quick google search doesn't really yield me any other results besides wired connections. Anyone got some experience / solution to this? Let me know!
  8. if your still interested, The thermal pads are 2 mm for the VRMs and 1 mm for the memory,
  9. Hey. Thermals pads came with the water-block itself from Alpha-cool. Other than that I too am not sure on thickness.
  10. Im just having trouble how it works. I.e. Do i connect to my wifi router and then steam remote should pickup on my desktop wired client etc.
  11. Yes, so Im using the Backbone Controller on my Iphone 13. Want to stream Witcher 3 on my Desktop steam to my mobile phone. Are there any settings I need to go through to achieve this?
  12. Question as heading. Is it possible to link my device needing steam remote to my Desktop Steam Client through the WIFI Router using a WIRED connection? Any interface / program / settings? Rocking an ASUS Router.
  13. Thank you for explaining, really insightful info. I had assumed coil whine was associated with the fan, but im wrong. I haven't touched any Overclock settings so its just at its base clock. Ive started to limit framerate to my monitor refresh rate, being 165hz.
