  1. Oh, it’s a clean install, no tools other than the software for the fingerprint sensor. All be it a while since it was installed. also, chkdsk just finished, and it seems to have repaired it. hm. thanks anyway though
  2. I’m having a odd issue where Windows thought the battery was dead, even though the battery status light AND Ubuntu 18.04 said it was above 50%, and then afterwards my user account logs into nothing but a Windows XP style cursor, blackness, and the widget from OpenHardwareMonitor. Control Alt Delete does nothing, in fact, nothing on the keyboard works as keyboard shortcuts go. However, the other account I have on the machine works perfectly fine. Laptop Config: Make/Model: Lenovo W530 Type 2447 CPU: Intel Corp i7-3820QM GPU: nVidia Quadro K2000M @745 MHz, overclocked by 135 MHz RAM: 32 GB DDR3 Disk Bay 1: Samsung 850 EVO 256 GB, contains GRUB and Windows Disk Bay 2 (normally a DVD drive): 2 TB HDD edit: make and model
  3. I know this thread is dead, but I'm going to say this: I'm (hopefully) getting a W530 very soon. yeeey
  4. Ok, personally, this has happened before to me. And guess what? The motherboard only emits one sharp endless beep now. As of now, no solution is known. Just be lucky it even gets past POST. new HDD/SSD, and a fresh install, preferably not one created with the same computer that died.
  5. It does it rather the battery is in or not. So it's not the battery. I'm not using the W530/T430 cause that isn't what was gifted to me.
  6. I would like to say probably not, but I really don't know. I don't think it would hurt to try though!
  7. As my LG Stylo 2 PLUS doesn't have an AMOLED screen, i have no suggestions.
  8. Well, her phone ALSO was not half the screen, but the entire screen. I forgot about that!
  9. my friend in California had this SAME issue; i had to disassemble the phone, unplug the display, and plug it back in. That seemed to fix it.
  10. Do you mind a suggestion that is a _bit_ more complicated? If so, look at the image. (It's an RCA STAV-4180 A/V Receiver) 5.1 ch audio, AM/FM radio, SP/DIF Dolby Digital support, etc. 100 W per speaker, and there are 5 of them. FYI, gunshots in CS:GO rattle the shelves in my bedroom. 96 kHz 24-bit DAC, too!
  11. Hmmm... This seems like a virus, but then again, Malwarebytes found nothing. Open Task Manager, and with the "Performance" tab open, try running a program. If the CPU spikes, then goes back down WITHOUT the program launching, then the program(s) in question may be crashing,
  12. Ok, so I know it seems like this is a horrible laptop to acquire, trust me, it isn't. I'm just rough on equipment. Anyway, if you pick up the laptop in a certain way, it seems to brown-out / lose power. It's not a battery issue, it still does it with or without a battery inserted. The certain point of "no more laptop" is marked on the image attached. Basically, if your hands/fingers/digits are ANYWHERE near this area when lifted, it does this. Keep in mind, this is not a software issue. It does it, even with a MS-DOS install, so... Does anyone have ANY clue what's going on here? If so, leave me a possible answer, please.
  13. the "core" (heh, see what i did there?) differences between mobile GPUs and desktop GPUs. Perhaps an similar episode with CPUs instead.
  14. Ok, so I replaced the thermal coupound... ITS FIXED i also almost murdered my GPU while I was at it
