the rear isn't open because it's the wall, but it's angled to exhaust outwards. I've taken it apart and reapplied Arctic Silver because the previous owner applied way too much thermal paste and I think that was causing problems. I think one of the problems I'm having is that Phanteks simply needs more airflow especially where it's located. Thank you so much for your experience that actually helps a lot. How do I turn off GPU's individually to test things out?

No I am using a CX750 for this build. What is an acceptable value? I'll try checking the drivers and I think I was having slight issues with Afterburner because it wasn't hitting 100%, but now that I fixed the settings in afterburner it stays a little cooler like 3+ degrees. So it now stress tests and stays under 96.

I've also checked the ambient, and in the cabinet where it is It's gets to about 26+ degrees in there. Would that be enough to affect the GPU temps a lot?

That would be very disappointing if it is about to die. It's only one of the GPU's so would there be a way to possibly transfer the workload over to the one that doesn't run so hot? II know that in SLI the workload isn't evenly distributed and one usually runs harder. The other GPU stays below 80 under load which is expected. So would I be able to tweak a setting to shift it over to that GPU?

I've heard the Fermi runs hot jokes but didn't think it was that bad ? I have a 460 that was used for a little bit and it ran a little toasty Now that I think of it.

Really that's normal? I didn't know that. I know the card is rated for 105 degrees so I was worried about it being near 100. I feel like I just choose to hot a card for the purpose I need it for unfortunately. I still like it though because it's odd.

It wasn't old paste from what I could tell. It was just very fresh and excessive and I think that helped my temps on one of the GPU's stay a bit lower.

I'm going to try that. When I reapplied the thermal paste I wasn't sure how tight I should screw everything back in and I'll double check. Thank you

I think that may just be the case. It's in a small case with only 2 fans intaking and the radiator fans exhausting. I'm going to try undervolting and then see about getting another fan to put in the top mount if I have room.

I was thinking about one of the GPU's not being used, but after checking in Afterburner I could see that they were both being used. What do you mean a bad mount? Like the heatsink isn't applying enough pressure to the chip?

Okay, so I replaced the thermal paste on both the chips. When i uncovered it I discovered an extremely excessive amounts of thermal paste that the previous owner applied. I reapplied and now one of the GPU's stays around 75 degrees when benchmarking, but the other stays at 97. Any ideas as to what would cause this big a discrepancy between the 2?

It had scratches on it which is how I got it so low. I'm going to take it apart and reapply some thermal paste and see what temps I get after. I don't think it visited an oven because from what I've seen it only holds up temporarily and won't keep under heavy stress testing which I did. I ran Unigine on it for a while and there was no signs of anything negative other than the temps. It's also in a cabinet which is why I think it's so high.

I got it mostly to collect, and match the theme of the build I'm working on right now. I saw them mostly going for about $130+ so I just bought it once I saw that I could get it for around $100. Another reason I also got it so cheap was that it had some scratching on the plastic shroud which I didn't care about because once it's mounted in a case you can't even see that.

Yeah for me it's really not worth it. This build the only thing I really had to buy for it was the GPU and PSU so this isn't really worth it sadly. I would consider it one day though because this is a pretty cool card.

How much work is it to put one of those on? I've only done minor GPU repair like fixing a broke fan on my old EVGA 970 and putting new thermal paste on it. So how hard is it compared to something like that?

No, it was about $100 all in which I know I could've probably spent more and gotten a newer/cooler running card, but I really just was intrigued by the novelty of having a dual GPU card honestly. I haven't checked into modern AIO kit's, but I don't think I have any room in that case to put one sadly :(.

Where could I get some good thermal pads from? I'd be up to replacing those if it would help my temps.

I recently got a good deal on a GTX 590 for a little build I wanted to put in my bedroom. I knew the card ran hot, but really wanted it since it was kinda odd and different. However, I noticed that when running Unigine one of the GPU's hits 98 degree celsius and the other one hovers at high 80's. I know part of the problem is it's in a cabinet (with open doors), but I didn't think it would get that hot. I have a Phanteks Eclipse P300 with 2 SP 120 in the front, a Corsair Ram Cooler, and an H60 with a push pull in the back. Is there anything I can do to try and reduce temperatures?

if you want a case like that and have a little to spend get the Antec 900. You can still buy it and it came out around 2007 I think. I use to have one before I sold it as part of a build I made for my friend. It's on Newegg for about $100.

Yeah I haven't seen many old cases that were that great. The best one I had experience with was an Antec 900. That was an amazing case with great airflow and cable management, but unfortunately it's too big and about double what I was wanting to spend lol.

I'm currently working on a 2009-2011 theme build with parts I own from that era. I'm really looking for a case that's from around that time that accommodates a full ATX motherboard, has a side panel window, and is under 17 inches in length. Any suggestions or am I just better off buying a modern case? My budget is under $60.

I would spend a little bit more on the SSD to get an M.2. It's definitely worth it as it makes cable management so much easier by getting rid of the need for the cords leading to it. Plus they're faster. It's a little bit more but so much more worth it imo, and I will never go back to using regular SSD's or HDD's for my main builds. Also I'd suggest getting your Win 10 from Kinguin and save about $80 to either put back in your pocket or get a better cooler.

I had this case a while back until I sold a PC to my friend in it and loved it. If I would've kept it I would have personally painted it white to hide some scratches that were in it. I would also suggest keeping the grill where the GPU fan would go black to add some contrast; then if you don't like it you can always simply spray it white with the rest of it. The black front, white body, and black grill would look very nice imo and I'd like to see how it looks once you're done!
