  1. Okay, I managed to roll back the update through Settings and all is working now. Strange huh
  2. Sorry for the delay in replying. I really hoped this would work but unfortuanately not. It seems not driver related somehow. What things in Windows could go wrong with Audio?
  3. Hey team. Need some help on this one. I've just updated my Asus UX535Li to Windows 11 22H2 but unfortunately audio has broken. For both laptop speakers and the 3.55mm headphone port, Audio doesn't work. So far I've tried a fairly extensive list of things but with no luck. Is anyone able to shed some light maybe? When clicking Test in Sound control panel, I get an error "Failed to play test tone.". I have Googled this and tried the following sfc /scannow in elevated command prompt (didn't turn up any issues) uninstalled and reinstalled realtek audio drivers (from Asus website for my laptop) Unchecked, checked exclusive mode and hardware accelearion in window below Tried different bit rates/quality settings for audio Disabled audio enhancements Bluetooth speaker works fine when connected to laptop. Just not in built audio. Rolled back part of the update that I could (this didn't help) then updated again (still not working) Ensured Windows update has no updates needed. Restarted many times Restarted Windows Audio Service However, it's still no go and I've kinda given up. I'd rather not reinstall windows if possible. Any ideas? Interestingly, I've done the same update on my PC (specs below) without issue. Gotta be environment related then right?
  4. Figured it out and thought I'd put it here should anyone come across this in the future. Something must have been corrupted on my 960 evo ssd. Even booting into other devices caused it to crash In the bios i secure erased the 960 evo ssd and all working now.
  5. I had it on a USB I made a few weeks ago. I thought that might be part of the problem. Reinstalled it to a different USB with same outcome. XMP disabled doesn't fix it. So DDR5 not at 1.5 but the memory controller (IMC) I think I may have figured out the problem. Will confirm. But I had my 960 evo in the Hyper M.2 card included with the motherboard. when I take that out, the error does not occur. Weird. I'm gonna put the ssd in the mobo slot and see if that works.
  6. Hi all Just built a new PC. Specs here 12700k Asus strix z690-e Kingston 2x16GB KF552C40BBK2-32 Asus Strix 3080ti OC I can get into UEFI Bios just fine, so the system passes POST. But when I load into my windows install usb, it goes to load then gives me the following error (see attached) . Here's what I tried so far with no luck. Updated BIOS to latest version 0811 Bumped memory voltage to 1.35 running XMP II 5200MHz from the stock 1.25 on the profile Ran MemTest86 in UEFI which ran fully with no errors Enabled CSM Disabled Secure Boot Tried booting into existing windows install with same error Increasing memory controller voltage slowly to 1.5 with no difference. I don't really want to push memory voltage much higher and I don't think it will make a difference anyway. Came here for some help. Any help greatly appreciated
  7. It's the other way around. Lower resolution means your gpu has an easier job. So you're more likely to be bottlenecked by your CPU. But I still agree, a GTX 1080 is perfectly capable.
  8. True. I was just thinking OP could use the money somewhere else.
  9. 7zips pretty good. But honestly, the windows one is just fine if you're not a heavy user and don't use .7z extensions. Msi afterburner is literally the best GPU oc program. Geforce experience is easy to use. Essential if you have Nvidia products. Don't use ryzen master for OC imo. Just do it through your UEFI. There's way more room for tweaking. I've used Your Phone but honestly, it's just a waste because I always carry my phone around meaning I get 3 notifications for everything. Once on my phone, once through your phone and once on my computer.
  10. Do you really need such a beefy psu with no GPU. I know its kinda good if you wanna upgrade but you could probably get away with a 650W
  11. Depends if you're able to run games fine now. If you can get way better fps than your monitor refresh rate with settings your happy with, then there's literally no point. I still have my R5 1600X from 2017 (full specs in sig) and I can run games fine. It's a really bad time to upgrade your GPU now because of pricing and supply. Honestly, if you can wait, I would.
  12. Update on the situation. Installed cpu cooler with new paste properly (see picture). Temps are actully slightly cooler. Maybe by about 5-6°C. It is a fairly hot day today of around 30°C. Before, I would get an idle of around 45°C. Now it's more around 39°C at idle (or actually while using zoom). Impressive. I did install some new case fans in the front though. Now I have 2 intake and 3 exhaust (1 back, 2 top). So maybe it's just that but regardless, I'm happy.
  13. Yes. This time, I'll do it without the fan installed so I can see better. I think last time, I put the top clip on, then the bottom clip and didn't realise the centre clip was there. This time, the centre notch goes in the slot first. Then the outer clips go on after.
  14. Yes certainly very lucky. You can see from these pictures how the centre tab is supposed to sit in the cooler. It was offset because this cooler is quite difficult to install.
