  1. Budget (including currency): $2000 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Jellyfin / PLEX. Windows (for occasional gaming). Would like to build all of this from something like Proxmox for Homelab work and testing playground. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): This will be connected to an LG C9 TV and only a few feet away from my router, and gaming desk. I have a Gigabyte 2080Ti laying around that I could use in the build, but I could also upgrade my PC's Gigabyte 3090 to a 40 series and move the 3090 in to this build since it's such a good card for 4K gaming. Bit of a rant here... I'm in an apartment so I don't have a ton of room, but since I work in IT I really want to build a homelab for me to create environments and do some self-learning away from work. I figured the best way to do this would be at least to start by building a NAS, and rather than using a dedicated software like TrueNAS, I'd like to try implementing a Hypervisor like Proxmox and create containers. Since I'm limited on my space I figured building this all as an HTPC would be the most ideal route. I love SFF builds but figured this is too much to fit in to an SFF chassis. Ultimately it would be amazing to have this machine run as a NAS / Homelab / Media Server 90% of the time, then on occasion play Steam games from it on my TV with a wireless keyboard and mouse. (Or maybe even VR gaming in the future if I ever get a headset) How do I fit all of these in to one build? Is it even possible? Where do I start? The NAS and Media Server are the 2 more important parts of this I want to achieve as I'd like to start backing up my own data and be able to watch shows that streaming services don't offer.. Can't wait for the feedback! Thanks!
  2. Simple question. I'm really considering getting myself an ultrawide gaming monitor, but am worried that as soon as I do something "better" will release. I know this is common in the PC community, but I just wanted to see if anyone had sources that show companies have a release date planned or announcements. The monitor I've been conisidering is the LG34GN850-B. I have a 240hz monitor and I just want the ultrawide to have 1ms response time and 144hz (at least) refresh rate. I want it to play those "scenic" games instead of shooters. Thanks LTT forums! love you guys
  3. Hey LTT Forums! Looking for some help and ideas considering my build for my next PC that I'm going to be building this month. The goal is to do a "White" Build, I am having trouble choosing a motherboard to match this build. I still haven't decided to go AMD or Intel, I love the new 3000 series from AMD but have always gone with Intel in the past. I plan on mostly gaming/streaming with editing as a side hobby. I want the computer to be able to do it all, price isn't too much of a concern. I just feel overwhelmed at choosing motherboards and it doesn't seem like manufacturers really make them White anymore. I have considered painting it white as an option but would need a helpful guide before I did it on my own. Willing to take suggestions on other parts as well! 4. Hello LTT Forums! With tons of Black Friday sales coming up I'm tempted to buy some parts going on sale, however i'm not really sure what I should be looking for. I have a very "decent" PC, it's nothing amazing, but it can play games and search the web which is all I need right now. I would like to be able to maybe play games at higher quality and possibly stream to twitch every now and then. So I'm really not sure what parts I should be looking for in order to upgrade my rig. I'm thinking the first thing I should get would be a graphics card / RAM, but again not to sure. Tell me what you think! Current build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/estrasser/saved/jKDTBm Thanks!
  5. Honestly I plan to do some major gaming/streaming and the occasional video editing. I'm getting impatient for Vega, but am really excited to hear more about threadripper. I've always been an intel fan but I really think AMD is winning me over lately
  6. Hey LTT Forum! Just curious to see what everyone thinks about this. Is now a good time to build a new PC? With all the new motherboards shown at Computex and the announcement of Intel's new (overpriced) CPU's, and hopefully some information on AMD's Threadripper coming soon. It's a difficult decision. Is any of this worth waiting for? Or at the very least, let all of this launch and grab today's current products once they drop in price? I personally have been saving for my new build for awhile now but with all the drama from intel and the general disappointed response by some of our favorite youtubers / reviewers. I'm not certain if I should go for my build right now, or actually consider waiting for the holiday season to see what comes of all these launches and announcements. Let me know what you all think!
  7. Is there anywhere I can see a comparison between Ryzen and Intel for streaming/editing? from what research I did I didn't see much of a difference
  8. The main reason I'm getting the 1080Ti is mainly future-proof. Plus, I might end up selling these monitors and getting a 4k one. Lots of people are suggesting Ryzen, is it guaranteed faster for streaming/editing? And thanks, I'll take a look at other PSU's
  9. Hey there LTT Forums! Long time reader, first time posting. I've finally decided to build a new PC and think I've got everything I need. I'm just looking for any suggestions from this amazing community that may help me in any way possible. With that said, I'll keep this short and sweet. I'm looking to build primarily a Gaming PC, but I do plan on streaming on twitch as well as editing my streams in Adobe Premiere. Things to note: -I don't plan on overclocking (but would like to have it available in case I decide to in the future) -I've never done water cooling before. I think it looks amazing but am not sure if it's absolutely necessary for me. -I am an Intel / NVIDIA fan (nothing against AMD Ryzen, just preference) So with that said. Here is the build I've come up with: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/estrasser/saved/dYbgsY (NOTE: the only things I'm keeping from my current PC are my Monitors, my SSD, and my 1TB HDD) If anyone has ANY suggestions for me it would be greatly appreciated. Whether it be hardware suggestions, saving money, or even just some tips I should consider for my build. Any questions let me know! Thanks
