  1. Makes sense but I'm really tight on money. Even getting $150 might take months Edit: this computer is only for Valorant and Overwatch. My laptop is what I work from so I don't need anything other then run Esport games
  2. What is wrong with an i3? And it's a gigabyte b365 motherboard and 8gb of 3200hz ram
  3. I already have a GPU so I don't need to worry about it. That $50 I could save is pretty nice
  4. I posted this on new builds but I'll ask you too. At microcenter they have a deal now to sell i3 9100f + motherboards. I could get that plus 8gb of ram for $150. Is that a good enough deal?
  5. Budget (including currency): $150 (USD) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: VALORANT, Overwatch Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm fairly certain my motherboard died. It's an am3+ gigabyte board with a fx 8350. I don't want to pay $150 for a new motherboard for this platform as it uses so much power already and i don't need these cores. At my local Micro Center I found a deal of an i3 9100f + Gigabye b365M + 8gb ddr4 ram for $151 including taxes. Would it be worth it to instead look at the ryzen 3 3200g and spend a bit more money? Thanks for the help
  6. I'd need ram too. Any recommendations? edit: the only other thing that was plugged in in that room was my laptop and 2 lights. I unplugged the laptop and am running the same test again
  7. It's hard to get am3 motherboards. I don't know which one to go for and what prices are good. I don't want a second hand one because this was second hand and it might be the issue.
  8. So it used to happen very randomly not at all often, I think it's something heat related because as the temperature got hotter it happened more. But it also could be that the part is just dying. I switched the ram spots and it worked for about a week but it started again today even worse then before. Also my graphics card (another 970) died two days ago. Not sure if that would be related.
  9. As i mentioned in the post neither the GPU or the CPU goes above 70 degrees c. I just uninstalled and reinstalled every driver and also did a clean install of windows a week ago.
  10. Hello all, I've been having a weird issue of my computer shutting off while playing video games or running heaven benchmark. I've replaced the PSU, and the GPU already thinking those could be the issue. I feel like it's some heat related issue but I can't quite figure out where it came form. I tried monitoring temperatures while running heaven but nothing was out of the ordinary. Neither the GPU or the CPU is above 70c. Any idea what I could do to figure out the issue? I don't have any more hardware to try and trouble shoot. Specs: FX8350 GTX 970 EVGA 600W 80plus psu GIGABYTE ga970a-ud3 2x4gb ddr 3 ram Thanks for the help edit: the only way i can boot after the crashes is if I turn off the power supply button and wait about 5 seconds.
  11. I don't play any games so yeah this seems like the best option! Thank you you made me realize the xps 13 isn't the most suitable for me!

  13. Alright so what would you do for a 15" under 1400
  14. I hate big laptops... they're bulky and annoying.
